LOTD 11/28/2016 – Mix & Match with Mesh becomes more and more difficult!

I’m gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up
I’m gonna tell ’em that
I’ve got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I’m looking up
I’m gonna soak up the sun
I’m gonna soak up the sun

Mix & Match… still my favourite way of styling even if mesh makes it more and more hard;)

With the mesh body rigged clothing it is even harder as it already was with standard mesh sizes, but if you try hard enough it still works somehow… mostly :p

Especially if you want to wander around with your mix and match styles in SL and not just do pictures, where you can cheat about poke through or bad back views πŸ˜‰

Sometimes it can help that you combine several parts of one designer, but not always you find what you want by just going through several outfits from one designer – plus I really do love the challenge to combine different creators as well πŸ˜‰

sysasteriaemotionsglamistry-4

I had a talk lately with one of my close friends about what is the advantage of standard sizes and mesh body sizes, because many designers do not even offer standard sizes anymore.

Part of that is that the SL community more and more uses the mesh bodies and standard sizes not always do fit on those, even if you can work many especially if you are not going to show too much skin. sometimes it does not matter for a simple pair of jeans, if you can alpha out everything properly what is covered by the jeans, or if you wear a full body suit with long sleeves for arms and legs. The more skin you show the more difficult it becomes because of the default alpha HUD for each mesh body.

But with the bigger usage of mesh bodies, certainly designers will tend towards the appropriate sizes and rigging to those as well. So I guess some when the standard sizes will be gone due the fact that they will not sell to well anymore.

And exactly because of this, I keep some parts even if they are older. I know many laughed when I told about my inventory numbers and called me a fool that needs to rezz forever, but for mix and matches sometimes if you sneak in an older part it can make it interesting again and as well spares you a lot of headaches by fiddling with fitted mesh only πŸ˜‰ (I am not saying i would use my hair from 2008 or really old looking accessories from 2010 all the time, but I do keep some things that are timeless for me and probably useful)

I am looking forward where SecondLife will go and with the new Bento possibilities it will be a new adventure like it was with every new possibility the past years – That keeps SL exciting to me… working out new things and new ways of importing likes and dislikes into a new way of virtual life πŸ˜‰

Maybe in 10 years we laugh about good old times with standard mesh sizes, like we do now about flexible prims and sculpts :p

LOTD 05/22/2016 – Landscape, Scenery or Editorial?

Sometimes it is a hard decision how you want your photo to look like.

This time I was pondering a lot between an editorial look, or just find a matching landscape or if I wanna build a scenery on my platform.

Β

I started with roaming around sims to find an ice location first when Anderian IMed me and we talked about editorial shots. I told her I am looking for something modern hippy looking when she suggested to just try google for 70s editorial fashion shots.

And there my vision of a landscape did go… now I wanted to do an editorial one :p

Enough of story telling about sceneries, let’s get the view on the clothing πŸ˜‰

The amazing “Happy Stroll in the Rain” jeans from Whimsical Imaginarium are the base of my todays styling. I got those amazing pants from Bodza, while we were talking and I fell immediately in love with them. I have a heart for wide flaired bell bottom pants in RL as well… I am not a 70s person, I was born in the 70s so the basic late 70s trends did pass me by while being a little child. Even if I remember some of those being in my wardrobe.. especially those weird wide dresses that started to get wide under the chest…

Now you gonna say ‘Oh yeah there is millions of those pants on the grid’ but well.. those catched my eyes because of the amazing texture and as well with the idea of having one lower leg colored different. To cover the color break on the knee, Bodza put some delicate lace and as well to repeat the colors ( yes I am a friend of no standalone colors… :p ) one oft the back pockets has the same color.

The amazing textured top is made by Asia Rae and it was a perfect addition to the amazing jeans – style and colorwise πŸ˜‰ The “Demy Crop Top” comes with a color HUD so you can customize the top to your needs colorwise.

For the jewelry I decided to go for a mix and match of 2 different Kungler sets and an amazing necklace from Charm. The cool glasses that did underline the modern 70s look I got from agapee. They are kinda funny to use, as they come with a HUD that lets you move the glasses up to your head with an animation and as well you have 3 options for the glasses to fold the front side up.

For the hair I decided to go with a new style from Truth, which was released on the actual round of the Enchantment event.Β  The hair is very versatile too as you get different options for the forehead part and several sizes for all kind of chest sizes.

The best shoes to go for todays look were wedges (Grand I can hear you on that one and believe me, usually I am not a friend of wedges myself, but that look simply called for them!)

The “Oksana Leather Heels” from [MODA] actually did not look that bad and with their huge HUD – all of their shoes have that huge HUD – it was quite easy to match them in color to the rest of the look πŸ™‚

Since I wanted something clean and editorial looking, as well as something with sit poses – which are so underestimated in so many blogs – I tried my luck on the “Lovers Crate Seat” from Shutter Field. The poses in that little cube are quite awesome, they just did not go too well with my outfit, so I just tried random poses out of my inventory to make it work. I realized very fast that having long legs and being a little bit above the average in terms of height, makes sitting a huge challenge :p . But with some minor graphic surgery even that worked out quite well. Since I am not that great skilled in working with editing programs, I can promise it really only was minor fixing πŸ˜‰

So in the end, it was the editorial version for today, but like I said to Tempe lately when we talked – and she agreed with me – … every style, every look, can call for something special. I neither wanna miss the fun roaming around on sims to find amazing locations, nor I would like to just have self-built sceneries or only white screened pictures for my blog. It is a lot about moods, feelings and emotions, that make me decide what the end result will be πŸ˜‰

News from LeeZu, EMO-tions & Finesmith

LeeZu+EMO-tions+Vista+WW 01

Today I am very happy to showcase one of the latest releases from LeeZu. The new “Tangled Top” is an amazing summer addition to every girls wardrobe. The top is just made of chains only and just covers the minimum what is needed to not look naked πŸ˜‰

I am totally in love with it, because this top gives so many options for mix and matches and simply is a super sexy must have. Some of you maybe remind the amazing “La GOa Top” as well from LeeZu, wich only came as a normal avatar layer, but the new “Tangled Top” has some more great options! It comes as a normal avatar layer, as a tatoo layer, PLUS it has appliers for the Slink, the TMP and OMEGA compatible mesh bodies. On top of that you can choose between a color and a black & white version.

The wonderful “Straight Denim Jeans – 2” are from Vista, yes you heard right, Vista which does the wonderful AOs that many of us use mostly ;).

The do clothing as well (I already posted some of them in the past) and the super tight jeans come in many different versions. You have the choice of 5 different sleeve length from long to short, so you can wear boots or shoes as you like and you always will be able to have the right height for your pants. The jeans as well come withΒ  a HUD to change the colors of the jeans to 6 different ones.

For the shoes I am wearing one of our own ones and the first original mesh made shoes for the Slink high mesh feet. The “Aria Stilettos” are available in different colors to mix and match them to your likings and style.

Since I am a friend of swag casual styles I added the “4Minute” jacket to my look. The jacked might be an older one, but it is the best I found in that style, which lets me still modify it to make it fit best for my look.

The great “Ashanti” hair is the contribution of EMO-tion for the actual On9 event. This short and ethnic hair just was the perfect addition for the look. With the loose hanging braids this braided updo should not miss in your closet ;).

Last but not least I would like to drag your attention closer to my fae on the amazing new “Malka” set from Finesmith. The set contains earrings, nose septum and a crown (not used in this post). The combination of filigree metals and a little gemstone at the bottom, matched the “Tangled Top” from LeeZu in a perfect way.

Foreign Warrior Princess

Finesmith-EMOtions 2

Today I was in a kinda ethnic mood when I unpacked the “Karma” jewelry set in red from Finesmith. When I put it on I immediately had an expression of a strong foreign beauty. Something between a princess and as well a warrior type look. The feathers gave me the impression of an old traditional culture and the rich jewelry parts the side of the princess. So what to do to combine this idea…

I went through my inventory to see what would match my idea.

Do you know that feeling, when you have an imagination of something and try to realize it and find everything but not what you are looking for?

It took me hours, I tried different things and many things were close to what I wanted but did not exactly hit the nail on the head until I found the “Xana” outfit from EMO-tions.

The amazing “Bird of Prey” nail polish set from Nailed it! matched the look in a wonderful way. The color was exactly matching the color of the jewelry and the look totally went with the idea of the warrior princess πŸ˜‰

The amazing metal bra was exactly what I wanted for the warrior look, but as well with the golden and blue-ish tone it was elegant enough to fit a foreign princess of a wild and strong culture. Matching to the bra the outfit has a thong with the same metal and colors. Around the waist it has a simple but perfect looking leather belt, which made my look complete.

The hair as well comes from EMO-tions and is called “Honey”. With the high ponytail in the back, it was perfect to wear the earrings and the headpiece of the amazing “Karma” set and the playful curls over the shoulder completed the imagination of my look for today πŸ™‚

“One in a Million Contest”: Mea Culpa – “Shanghai Noon” could grab the win!!!

As well designed for the “One in a million” contest, I would like to showcase the second design Tatanka Kaligawa made for this challenge.

This gown comes with all parts you can see. The hair and shows are part of the outfit and even the amazing jewelry. What I was not able to show on the pics, the gemstones of the jewelry have a very tricky and great texture. It is glittering and glimmering kinda like an animated texture! I rarely saw such before and it really caught my attention. The same texture is repeated on the little balls that are attached on the shoulders. Such a shame that you cannot catch that in a picture but if you make your way to the Mea Culpa Mainstore and get this fabulous gown you can see it πŸ˜‰ as well you can IM me and I will come to the store and show you :). The name already tells some about the idea that was behind that gown – it has a huge asia touch ;). The wonderful fan with the spikes on the right hip and the wonderful flowers that remind on orchids… simply amazing!

The gown can be worn in 3 different versions. I tried to catch all possibilities with keeping one pose to show you what the changes are. Above you can see the first version. For this one you just wear the skirt layer and a special provided leggings under it.

Second possibility would be the so-called mermaid version. For that you just add the prims on the bottom of the skirt combined with the stomach attached prim and the skirt layer.

The last option would be a pants version. For that one you will find an extra made pants layer in your folder that is lightly different to the leggings for the skirt. The incredible hip attachment with the long trains for left and right go well with all versions of them but for sure you can experiment with it as you please. The wonderful shoes are as well part of that outfit as I said and they come with the Mea Culpa HUD to match your skintone perfectly. This outfit really is something special with all the possibilities to wear and all the additions you will get if you purchase that outfit!

Walk like an Egyptian with Finesmith Designs!

One set of Finesmith Designs caught me for longer and I had something in mind about styling that I did not find all the time. I wanted to do something special for the “Egyptian” set and lately I came across something I really liked πŸ˜‰

The “Egyption” set it self contains The fabulous headpiece, the skirt with the long train, nipple shields, necklace, earrings and the incredible eye ornament. With all this parts the “Egyptians set is not only a jewelry set, it is a full outfit where you just have to add hair and shoes and a skin of your likings, for sure you can wear this with your usual skin as well I just was tempted with this golden one I found in a sale at VUI. The hair comes from Purplemoon including the hair base and it is called “Cat” in golden wheat. I chose some golden boots for it that anyways not show in this pics, so anyways :p. The “Egyptian” for me is the total proove of how creative and genius yula Finesmith is. Her endless heart and soul of creativity never will be empty and I am sure she writes history in the SL fashion world with her amazing creations… I saw my new Inspiration set a week ago even longer, it is just a secret till the official release… but I can tell you I never ever before saw jewelry thats so me! Yula puts in so much time, soul, love and effort in this inspiration sets and the turn out so amazing and unique! You really should try the Finesmith Inspirations Muse castings and if it is only to work close with one of the most amazing people in Second Life – yulaFinesmith ! For the perfect posing of the “Egyptian” set I used poses from Body Talking made by Arisia Ashmoot out of the “Mr Egypt” set that you as well can use for females πŸ™‚
