Circus Mystic for Fashion for Life 2014

FFL PC 03

During the .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week S/S 2014 I met a very creative and wonderful person. Trinity Yazimoto, owner and super creative designer of Petite Chat (*PC*). I already blogged 2 of her creations for the :PENUMBRA: Fashion Week and now she is part of the Fashion for Life (FFL) with new creations. One of those new designs is the “Circus Dress”. Again this dress was made from a wonderful picture of herself. I talked to her for a few times now and I only can imagine how difficult it is to bring those amazing paintings on mesh prims. If you ever tried to texture a mesh item, you know how back it stretches, twists and destroys the actual texture. But if you take a closer look on Trinity’s creations you can see that every little thing is sharp and in line on the clothing as it was in the art work.

The “Circus Dress” inspired me to really go against the circus idea. A longer time ago I got a wonderful gift from Daphne Klossovsky, designer of [HANDwerk]. A super sweet and cute wooden horse that looks like as it was taken out of a carousel. The colors just went perfect with the “Circus Dress” and so I finally found something I can post that amazing carousel horse with šŸ˜‰ .

The “Circus Dress” is materials enabled and so you can test all those super cool new windlights with that new feature as well and can see the full beauty of that dress and as well it adds a wonderful uniqueness to the dress.

The original artworks are displayed in Trinitys little art gallery called Petite Chat Gallery (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Haddath/26/106/67).

And to keep the eyes on Fashion for Life please as well take a look at the hair. The “Josy” hair style was made by Mirja Mills, owner and creator of EMO-tions.

“Josy” has a wonderful long and flexible high ponytail and in the front some wisps fall into your face. With all those amazing features and the fact that you can have this in all the well-known colors that EMO-tion offers, this hair is the perfect addition for your everyday hairstyles.

Please make your way over to the Fashion for Life sims and help with enlarging your wardrobe, hair and accessories. All those amazing designs were made for an amazing charity that raises money for those who need the help!

Last but not least I would like to share the music, wich underlined my inspiration for the pictures while I was working on them.

Circus

There’s only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain and the ones that observe
Well baby, I’m a put-on-a-show kind of girl
Don’t like the backseat, gotta be first

I’m a like the ringleader, I call the shots
(Call the shots)
I’m like a firecracker I make it hot
When I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins
Spotlight on me and I’m ready to break
I’m like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage
Better be ready, hope that you feel the same

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus ahhhhha

There’s only two types of guys out there
Ones that can hang with me and ones that are scared
So baby, I hope that you came prepared
I run a tight shift so beware

I’m a like the ringleader, I call the shots
(Call the shots)
I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot
When I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins
Spotlight on me and I’m ready to break
I’m like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage
Better be ready, hope that you feel the same

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

Let’s go

Let me see what you can do
I’m runnin’ this like-like-like a circus
Yeah, like a what? Like-like-like a circus

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

DaneMarkz for the debra charity!

Charity001

Today I would like to focus on something very special. The top and the necklace for today’s post are something very important.

Both was made by Hannah Daviau, owner and designer of DaneMarkz (DMZ) and it is her contribution for the EB Charity Event.

The top is available in 6 wonderful colors and patterns with flowers and butterflies and all what you can imagine under the summer theme :). For todays post I chose the “Nanette” top in peachy green. The beautiful combination of colors and the amazing shape of the top are the right choice for the upcoming season. Together with the “Summerlovin'” necklace in green wich as well is a donation to the debraĀ  (Dystrophic Epidermolyosis Bullosa Research of America) charity. AS well she made some shoes that will probably be part of another blog post ;).

Charity002

What is EB?

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) ā€” The Worst Disease You’ve Never Heard Of.ā„¢

Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB, is a very rare genetic connective tissue disorder that affects 1 child out of every 20,000 births (that means about 200 children a year are born with EB).Ā  EB is actually a group of disorders that share a prominent manifestation of extremely fragile skin that blisters and tears from friction or trauma. Internal organs and bodily systems can also be seriously affected by EB.Ā  The list of secondary complicationsĀ  can be long and may require multiple interventions from a range of medical specialists.Ā  As of today, there is no cure or treatment.Ā  Daily wound care, pain management and protective bandaging are the only options available.

The manifestations of EB, the symptoms the person suffers from, and the overall long term outcome on quality of life run the gamut from mild to devastatingly severe.Ā  This is dependent on several factors including the type and subtype of EB and the inheritance pattern (autosomal dominant versus recessive).Ā  There are many people who are diagnosed with milder forms of EB, which, while they can be extremely difficult and painful to live with, are not disfiguring or lethal.Ā  In these forms of EB blistering of the skin may be limited to the hands and feet which may not result in any scarring or loss of function.Ā  In more severe forms there is generalized blistering of the skin as well as injury to many internal organs and bodily systems.Ā  These more severe forms of EB result in disfigurement, disability and early death, usually before the age of 30.Ā  In fact, some forms of EB are lethal in the first few months of life.

EB is caused by mutations in the DNA code that make up genes.Ā  Genes are responsible for making and expressing proteins.Ā  EB can result from one genetic mutation in any one of the 18 genes that have been found to cause the disorder.Ā  These mutations, or errors in the genetic code, may not allow the affected gene to produce a specific protein, or it may result in the incorrect formation of that protein.Ā  Either way, the mutation does not enable the affected protein to work correctly thus resulting in extremely fragile skin, and other manifestations of EB like: anemia, cardiomyopathy, syndactyly (fusion of the fingers and toes), renal insufficiency, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), malnourishment, cancer, constipation, osteoporosis, muscular dystrophy and pyloric atresia.

There are four types of genetically inherited EB: Simplex, Dystrophic, Junctional and Kindler.Ā  These four major types of EB differ phenotypically (what physical manifestations look like) and genotypically (the genetic makeup) as well as by the area of the skin where there is blistering, otherwise known as ā€œthe site of ultra-structural disruption or cleavageā€.Ā  There is also an autoimmune form of the disorder called, EB Acquisita .

Children with EB are known as Butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly.

There are about 30,000 people with EB in the United States.

EB affects both genders and every racial and ethnic background.

Through the eyes of a child

Sweet innocent child with your open eyes.
You’ve seen us for who we really are.
And I know that there’ll be tomorrow.
So that hope can have it’s glory day.
And I wish that this world would embrace you
from magic stars and mystery.
My open heart …

I know you, I’ve seen your face before
you brought me to this open door
afraid to walk through.
Please take my hand.

I know that there will be tomorrow.
So that hope can have it’s glory day?
And I wish that this world embrace you
from magic stars and mystery.
My open heart …

I see where we’ll go from here.
‘Cause love doesn’t break
with the right amount of care
in your hands is whom you’ve choosen to be.
Life is a freedom.
Now go out there and be free.

Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.

Ā Fashion for K.I.D.S.Ā  is a week-long charity event which will take place from April 14th to April 21st, 2014. that will help to feed the bodies and minds of young children. The two Miss Virtual World 2014 Candidates, Sienna Bellios and Shelby Matfield will collaborate in this effort , and raises funds for K.I.D.S., a childrenā€™s charity that aids in the development of children through nourishment and education (literacy). K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distress Situations) donates 97 percent of donations to the children and families they serve. The charity helps many kids in distress situations such as homelessness, low literacy rate, victims of domestic violence, children with serious illness, and military families. More information on this charity can be found at http://www.kidsdonations.org/about_wwa.htm.

During this event, a host of 18+ designersĀ  willing to set up small vendors of their creations ā€“ with one creation donating 50% or more to the childrenā€™s charity. Since the charity is to aid children, the designers will have an array of bright colors to represent children, and just in time for spring! To cap off this event, we will host a grand fashion show on the BOSL sim, featuring the awesome women of Miss Virtual World 2014! It is our hope that through this colorful, spring fashion event, that we raise a substantial amount of lindens to give to K.I.D.S.

—————————————————————

Each day families all around the world struggle for food, clothing, and shelter. Each day a parent loses their job and with the loss of a job, usually the loss of their home follows. We work hard to make ends meet, rob Peter to pay Paul, struggle to care for our children but the truth is, the vast majority is just one pay check away from poverty. And while as adults we suffer, those who suffer the most are our children. (Sazzy Nirpaw, http://sazzynirpaw.wordpress.com/2014/04/12/through-a-childs-eyes/)

—————————————————————

I really was very happy when Sienna IMed me and asked me, if I would like to participate in that event. I worked or over 10 years in children home for abused and homeless kids and it really touched my heart, when Sienna asked me. All the memories came back, the eyes of the children looking at me, their little hands reaching out for something the would like to have, the sparkling in their eyes for candy if I brought some with me to work…

I was thinking a lot what I could make for such a charity, because I really wanted to have something that has the kids theme in it. The idea of the “Lolliopop Gown” was born. All kids love candy and the idea of a gown made of lollipops just seemed for me the right idea for such a charity šŸ˜‰

The gown comes with the mesh corset, a mesh skirt, the huge lollipop back-fan, the ribbons and ruffles and some little parts like the hair decoration and the lollipop for the hand. I left all the prim parts modify, so that you can play with them and reattach or resize them to your likings.

I hope you all like the idea, my little candy dream because 100% proceeds of the “Lollipop Gown” will go to the K.I.D.S. charity.

Please help those who cannot help themselves!

Sightsavers – Baboom

Sightsavers - Baboom 001

This is a RL charity that works in some of the worlds poorest countries helping to save men, women and children from blindness.

Specifically, we wish to support their work in battling a disease called trachoma. This is caused by a bacterial infection spread by unwashed hands and certain species of flies.Ā  Infection causes scarring of the eyelid, repeated infection causes the eyelid to turn inwards and the eyelashes to scrape against the cornea damaging it.

Years of repeated infections of trachoma cause trichiasis, when the eyelid turns inwards and the eyelashes rub on the eyeball, causing scarring of the cornea, constant irritation and terrible pain. In their desperation, many people pull out the in-turned eyelashes with a pair of tweezers. But the eyelashes always grow back, even stronger than before ā€“ bringing worse pain. Until slowly, they go blind.

The additional tragedy is that trachoma is such an easy disease to prevent. Trachoma can be treated in it’s early stages with antibiotics to clear-up the infection. Antibiotic treatment can be provided for less than $1.00 US dollar.

Once people have trichiasis, surgery is needed to turn the eyelashes away from the eye, reducing the pain and preventing the scarring of the cornea. Just $5.00 US dollars can fund a trichiasis operation.

Kim Rongyu, the CEO of this charity event, has lived in some of the countries where this awful disease exists, Through her RL experience, she knows how damaging this is and as a RL scientist, how easy it is to prevent. We are reaching out to the amazing talents of Second Life, creators and designers, to ask if you would like to join us for this cause, to raise funds to be donated to Sightsavers organization.

Today I would like to spotlight the contibution of Baboom for the Sightsavers event in Second Life.

Kyra Camel, owner and designer of Baboom, made a stunning dress in 3 colors to support the Sightsavers event. For today’s post I decided to wear the green version of the “Flora” mesh dress. The dress is a long tight shaped dress with an amazing shoulder free top end. The mesh prim moves smoothly with every animation and the wonderful light ornaments on the light green it is a wonderful spring dream dress. 100% of the “Flora” dress, anyways which of the 3 amazing colors goes to the Sightsavers charity. Thanks a lot Kyra for those amazing designs!

Fantasy Faire 2013 – Rfyre & The Plastik + News from Finesmith

Fantasy Faire 2013 - Rfyre + Plastik full

From the 20th of April until the 28th of April you can find amazing creations various designers made for themes like fantasy, role play, steam-punk and Sci-Fi and all that is content of dreams at the SecondLife Fantasy Faire 2013. Ā  Incredible builders created awesome sims for that event where you can make fantastic pictures or just explore and get caught away in your dreams and imagination.

The Fantasy Faire is one of the most huge events that take part in the RFL. RLF ā€“ Relay for Life ā€“ is a charity organisation that supports the American Cancer Society.

The last 2 sims are the event sims, where presentations, music events, concerts, auctions and silent auctions take place. To make it more interesting for visitors, a super amazing hunt is taking place where you can find many incredible little items.

Today I would like to take a closer look on the creations of Rfyre and The Plastik.

Rfyre created two wonderful full outfits for the Fantasy Faire and one I would like to spotlight today. The “Lux Fantasy” outfit is part wise made with mesh. The corset and parts of the arms sleeves are mesh made and the amazing bodice comes as a layer. The full outfit as well contains a long skirt, that’s open in the front, but for the post I just skipped that part, because for the aggressive running look I liked it more without the skirt ;). The amazing, cool looking boots with the detailed texture and the awesome buckles atthe side are part of the outfit.

As always Raven Pennyfeather, owner and designer of Rfyre, points with her amazing textures. She has such an eye for the detail and her creations mirror that. If you take a closer look at the textures you can see how filigree and perfect they are made and so she gives the gothic look a very elegant and high fashion touch. The chest part looks like silver plate decorations and give the whole outfit a very strong amazon looking touch. The wonderful chains that run over the cleavage again show how detailed Raven works for her designs. Her creativity seemd to never come to an end as she always comes with new ideas and combinations, that amaze me. It is always a honor to blog her creations :). The black silver look of this outfit really makes a wonderful base for realizing your own fantasies in many ways šŸ™‚

The wonderful huge jewelry is one of the newest releases from Finesmith. The “Truth” set is available for male and female and it contains the necklace, earrings, shoulder parts and a bracelet. The male version just is a little bit bigger sized. The dark silver metal goes wonderful with the black gems and the long spikes already gave a very demon looking attitude and so it was perfect for this styling ;).

The hair is one of my favourite styles from EMO-tions. The “Solitude” hair has a very special option as you have two hairstyles in one that are to change with a menu. If you click it you are asked if you wanna have ‘Style A’ or ‘Style B’ and with a sweet gesture it changed the look after you made your choice. For the “Solitude” style as well one version has the forehead chain like in the post and the other shows without the chain.

The skin as well is a Fantasy Faire contribution and it comes from The Plastik. The “Arkasia” skin in the ‘Paua” color was the perfect addition to my demon style. As I told before in another post you have several options for each skin and color in the pack and this time I decided to go with the ‘bare’ version, that only has a scale framed face and some scales on the body. The “Bloodless Silver” eyes are as well from The Plastik and I had them in the skin folder as well. Together with the “Dark Shadow”, the “Smudgy Shadow” and the “Lip Stripe” that came together with the “Arkasia” too the demon look was perfect and I just added some wings from Material Squirrel.

Today I would like to lead you down into the ocean with EMO-tions, Paper Moon and Plastik :).

As I saw the items from Paper Moon I thought about, wich fantasy direction I could go. Paper Moon offers a top and a skirt in different shades of purple, pink and beige for the Fantasy Faire. As I was playing again with the fantastic skins from The Plastik, I got the idea of a fantasy mermaid looking girl deep down in the ocean. So I took the “Synjarni Silver Tribal Fusion” top fromĀ  Paper Moon to the “Arkasia – Kryv” skin made by The Plastik. In the skin pack you find several versions of the skin, as well eyes and different makeup versions. I decided to go with the Atlantic version, because of the style idea I had. The scales round the eyes and over the body are not blanket the skin too much and let the human side still exist in a wonderful way. The mesh “Synjari” top from Paper Moon with it’s amazing texture and the filigree ornaments made a nice base for the styling together with the mermaid tail from FATEbecome. The wonderful “Paradise” hairstyle was made from by EMO-tions as well for the Fantasy Faire 2013. The long hair is available in black , natural, fantasy blue and fantasy turquoise. For this post I chose the natural version. The jewelry part of the forehead and the beautiful feathers are as well part of the hairstyle and make the awesome fantasy look perfect.

To add a a little playful touch I added some feathers from Fancy Fairy and to underline the underwater look with a jewerly piece, I decided to wear the “Kitsch Couture” necklace from Finesmith as it reminded me of those flexible sea anemones.

Today I would like to drag your attention to the creations of EMO-tions, Plastik and Talevin’s Design.

EMO-tions is well known for quality fantasy and role-play designs since a lot of years. For this year’s Fantasy Faire Mirja Mills, owner and designer of EMO-tions, designed a few very special fantasy hair styles. The “Sunburst” hair style is one of them. It is a wonderful wild hairstyle that comes I amazing fantasy colors. The silver jewelry parts you can see round the face, are part of the hair itself. I only added the “Inferno Horns” to give the whole look a demon attitude šŸ˜‰

The amazing “Draziira” skin as well is one of the fantastic items of the Fantasy Faire 2013, contibuted by Plastik. The black skin comes in different versions for the colored parts and I chose the red one called “Inferno”. Inside of the skin package I found a super cute pair of fantasy long ears, that matched the skin and some red glowing eyes who were perfect for my demon look.

The incredible “Chaos Tentacle” staff comes from Talevin’s Design. With this huge and amazing looking staff you will be able to rule the fantasy world with your cast your spells šŸ˜‰ As well Talevin’s Design offers a wonderful HUD that has lot of effects that you can apply on other avatars to make your magic even look more real. Some of them are really fun as long as you do not bother people with it, that do not want it šŸ˜‰

The Fantasy Faire is one of the most huge events that take part in the RFL. RLFRelay for Life – is a charity organisation that supports the American Cancer Society.

The whole event takes part on 10 sims. The are arranged in a nice way with a path that you can follow to explore all of them. On 8 you will find the creations that were made from all the designers to support the RLF. The last 2 sims are the event sims, where presentations, music events, concerts, auctions and silent auctions take place. To make it more interesting for visitors, a super amazing hunt is taking place where you can find many incredible little items.

Today I would like to start my little row of Fantasy Faire 2013 posts with the contribution of Ezura.

Ezura made different items for the Fantasy Faire and I tried to combine them all in one outfit whats really possible šŸ˜‰

The base is the amazing “Fanatsy Velnyra” outfit. It kinda is a ready to wear outfit as it contains all visible parts like the bra, the stockings, the skirt, the cuffs and as well the panties. The amazing mesh “Thigh High” boots are the second item for the Fantasy Faire. The long over-knee boots underline the sexy touch of the outfit very well ;). What really caught my attention are the super cool gloves with the looooong blades that reminded me about Freddy Krueger :p

To finish the styling I took the “Mai Goth” collar from Ezura with the awesome spikes that matched the blades perfect in my opinion šŸ˜‰

So make your way to the Fantasy Faire 2013 (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fairelands%20Junction/128/128/23) and help while you buy all those amazing dreamy fantasy items!
