Surrealistic Autumn with Asteria, EMO-tions and E.V.E Studio

asteriapurplemoonemotions-1

Surrealism was something, that I liked a lot in school and university when it came to art. The possibility to combine things that do not belong together or even play with sizes to really unnatural proportions can be a lot of fun. To mix dreams and reality as well has a very attractive side for me.

Surrealism:

Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings. The aim was to “resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality”. Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects and developed painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself.

Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists and writers regard their work as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the works being an artifact. Leader André Breton was explicit in his assertion that Surrealism was, above all, a revolutionary movement.

Surrealism developed out of the Dada activities during World War I and the most important center of the movement was Paris. From the 1920s onward, the movement spread around the globe, eventually affecting the visual arts, literature, film, and music of many countries and languages, as well as political thought and practice, philosophy, and social theory. E.V.E Studio lately inspires me a lot, to do more surrealistic looking pictures, because Noke keeps releasing so amazing art pieces which are super cool for little sets. This time it was the “Chained Tree” from E.V.E Studio, that brought me on the idea for todays pictures. The tree is part of the “Whispers Gacha”, which originally was made for Chapter 4. To give the whole set more ambience feeling I added the golden version of the “Ivy Tree” (which as well was part of a gacha from E.V.E Studio), some dry grass from [we’re closed] and the cute “Floating Watering Can” from striped mocha.

asteriapurplemoonemotions-2

First I thought about doing a creepy Halloween themed story, but after looking at all the gold it called more autumn that actually creepy Halloween at me :p.

I remembered a wonderful body suit with a cute leather harness from Asteria, that I did get not too long ago. Together with the awesome “Lost Mind Headdress” from PurpleMoon, the “Jane” outfit from Asteria it made the perfect look for a warm autumn picture series.  Since I was in a total autumn mood by now I added some tights, as I had the feeling, with naked legs, I would freeze like mad outside *snickers*, but the amazing “Sheer Tights” from Izzie’s took care of that ;). The “Jane” outfit from Asteria is made in 3 pieces. The sleeves, the body suit and the little harness. and you can mix and match with different colors as well if you like.

asteriapurplemoonemotions-3

The amazing hair cut is one of the latest releases from EMO-tions called “Melanie”. With the long hair that falls down straight over the shoulders to the front it looked amazing with the head-piece and the outfit and was the right match to get the feeling for the look as I wanted it.

I learned something again… even if you plan on something spooky dark scary, it can turn out as something warm and light :p

LOTD 10/01/2016 – Try to build? Or just pushing prims? Maybe both?

sysevestudio-1

Playing with self-built sets becomes more and more fun :p

I never thought, that I can do that. I see so many amazing builds and sets from other bloggers and I adore them for doing that. When I try that especially with furniture and houses, I always have the feeling I am doing something wrong – I have no clue why but it never looks like I want it :p

That is why I mostly used inworld locations for that kind of pictures. But sometimes, if you are not allowed to rezz, sometimes you come across the issue, that you can’t place your avatar as properly as you would like.

sysevestudio-4

Building your own set means, you can do what ever you want and place yourself as you like. As I said before, I leave the natural settings of wonderful landscapes and realistic environments to those who can do way better than I am :p , but I lately found my challenge in some editorial, artistic looking sets. a great help with those are for example stores like 22769, E.V.E Studio, DRD, Newchurch, striped mocha and Nomad, to just name a few of my favorite ones 😉

E.V.E Studio I do like for their very artistic creations. I love the way Noke sees her art in a very colorful and futuristic world. Her imagination seems to have no reigns and I really do love that as it inspires me a lot.

The “Cyber Flower Pins Lights” were one of the  releases of E.V.E Studio and when I unpacked them, I immediately wanted to do something with them, even if I did not know yet what or how…

The “Cyber Flower Pins Lights” come in 4 different versions – one with and one without fireflies on them. With 8 different colors the structures are perfectly to create a set or use them for deco. To get the full beauty of the flower pins I suggest you turn the advanced lightning on. The flower pins are mod and you can resize them or even play with the lights, something i highly appreciate as you have control over the brightness and sizes and can customize it to your picture idea.

sysevestudio-2

The look for this picture, was not easy in the beginning. I experimented with some cyber futuristic things first but for what ever reason it looked always wrong. Then I tried with something romantic/mystic but again it felt wrong. I kept the flowers up and gave up on the look for a few days, as I experienced if you try to force something together it never will look ‘right’ and taking pictures is just no fun.

Another day I came across the “Trianon” dress, which was released for Collabor88 before. I totally loved the asymmetric look of the dress with the one side jacket. With the longer part on the jacket side we have some amazing ruffles and an amazing detailed shoulder part, while we have a very clean look on the other half with kind of tight body suit. I added the “Occult Sleeves” from a jacket I found at ISON, as I felt something was missing for the look I wanted to have.

sysevestudio-3

The cool hair was made by [sys] as well and is called “Shinzo” with the option to color some wisps they were perfect to the “Trianon” dress colorwise and the sweet rose added a romantic touch to it. The collar as well is part of the “Trianon” dress. With all the pink in the outfit I decided to put some pink on the set as well and used the “Dancing Petals” in pink as well from E.V.E Studio.

Again I has great fun pushing prims and working on my own set, even if doing inworld shots on wonderful sims and locations is fun too and will happen again soon I am sure 😉

Dark Victorian Princess for VERSUS Magazine

Look 1

Read the VERSUS Magazine HERE

When Shena assigned me the trend for the current issue of the VERSUS magazine I was super happy. She said my trend would be ‘Dark Victorian Princess – but in an up-to-date look’ and she totally hit my heart with that 🙂

I always had an addiction to dark stylings… black always will be my favourite color 😉

The victorian princess merged into a more modern looking way was something quit interesting and as well challenging. My first step led me again to Google and I looked for Neo Baroque and New Baroque looks as well as for modern Victorian stylings.

versus-magazine-dark-victorian-princess-look-01

Look 2

I never tried to copy looks I found… more to find my own way of the styles I saw. When I look for a certain style, I try to find as many looks as possible to get the essence of the looks. To me styling a certain trend, theme or category does not mean to copy an existing look of a picture I found. I saw that so many times for challenges, contests or castings – People just open Google and get one of the first 10 pictures they see and try to find exactly that look in SecondLife. To me that is NOT really ‘styling’, it is just copying an existing look without any personal traits or edges, even if it can be a challenge to find all those items :p .

versus-magazine-dark-victorian-princess-look-04

Look 3

Copying looks to me never was fun and thank god I did not have to do that too often. But styling an assigned trend or style is the most fun challenge I can imagine, when I can try to put my own twist to something, but still cover a certain look. When you can bring something alive, that tells a general story about a look but as well a story about yourself… I do not know if that makes any sense but it is what I feel when I do those kind of stylings.

Look 4

Thank you Shena, that I was again allowed to be part of your amazing VERSUS magazine. I always love the assignments you are giving to me, because you always think about, what would be fun for me or what would suit me. It is always an honor and pleasure to work with you and for you <3

LOTD 08/24/2016 – Nautical Vintage Mood

Asteria Nautical 4

Nautical themed pin ups in a retro looking, vintage way always was something that I liked a lot.

When I unpacked the new “Michelle” outfit from Asteria, I immediately got the idea, to try something in that direction, even if the outfit looked modern and not very retro like on the first view.

Asteria Nautical 3

The outfit contains shorts, a small, sporty looking belly free top and the great knitted pullover over the shoulders. The shorts have a cute detail at the backside. One side is kinda ripped with a hole right at the butt, while the bottom seams of the shorts, as well look like used and just cut with all the small frills hanging down loosely.

Asteria Nautical 5

I tried to pull the whole outfit towards my retro idea and so I added some semi sheer tights from Izzie’s and the awesome over knee boots from [MODA]. With the stripes on the pullover and the stockings I already got the feeling of the whole look and wanted some of the amazing vintage looking sunglasses, which I found at Glamistry.

Asteria Nautical 1

Usually the 50s are known for colorful tattoos, but iI never was a huge friend of those and so I took one of the newest releases from my favourite tattoo designer Julie Hastings. The “Allied” tattoo from White~widow is available at the Fetish Fair 2016 in black, red and white.

Asteria Nautical 8

For the hair, I chose one of the newest EMO-tions hair called “Talon” the neat one-sided braid you will find at the actual round of Shiny Shabby. with the one side coming down in the front it did not interfere too much with the loose pullover sleeves over my shoulder ;).

Asteria Nautical 7

Now usually the most hardest part.. finding a location which was stuck in my imagination… I wanted a harbour, not too crowded but not totally empty. I prefer mesh nowadays since it reacts so much more nice on windlights and as well looks way more up to date than buildings from 2008 😉 I went to the destination guide of SL as they usually have nice locations there which are very photogenic. After some sim hopping I found the “West of the Rain” sim. When I landed, I immediately found myself standing at a harbour what seemed like coincidence 🙂 I waited a few seconds to rez and when I looked around, I knew I was in the right place. The amazing ship right in the harbour, the other a little out and the wonderful little building caught my heart and I spent quite some times snapping way too many pics. Again I had a hard choice, to choose which ones should end up in the post. Every time I try to convince myself, that 2 to 3 pictures would be enough and still I end up with 5 to 8 *hides*

Kunoichi

Ninja 3

Kunoichi s a modern term for a female ninja or practitioner of ninjutsu (ninpo).

The term is thought to derive from the names of characters that resemble the three strokes in the kanji character for woman ( onna); said in the order they are written: ku (く) – no (ノ) – ichi (一). Early literary quotes include Enshū Senkuzuke Narabini Hyakuin (遠舟千句附并百韵?) (1680) as well as Maekuzukeshū (前句付集?) (1716), which specifically associates the word with the kanji 女 supporting the etymology. The “くノ一” writing requires the use of one character from each Japanese character set – first hiragana, then katakana, then kanji. While hiragana and kanji can exist in the same word, katakana generally cannot appear in conjunction with the others. There are exceptions to this, for example in “ゴミ箱” and “消しゴム”.

Female ninja are mentioned in Bansenshukai, a 17th-century Japanese book compiling the knowledge of the clans in the Iga and Kōga regions devoted to the training of ninja. According to this document, the primary function of female ninja was espionage, finding legitimate service positions in the households of enemies, to accumulate knowledge by gaining trust or overhearing conversations. One historically accepted example of this is Mochizuki Chiyome, the 16th century noblewoman with ninja roots who was tasked by the warlord Takeda Shingen with recruiting women to create a secret network of a few hundred female spies.

[Wikipedia]

Ninja 5

Sometimes if you just put on one item, you immediately get an idea what you want to do with it… I am sure all of you had that happen at least once. Something like this happened to me when I put on the “Isis” collar and skirt from [sys].

When I put it on, I immediately had the vision of a ninja/asian inspired look. I remembered the awesome “Mei” hair from EMO-tions – that was sold on the south-asia inspired round of On9 – which I decorated with the cool “Albedo Horns” from Ayashi.

To cover my chest, since the feathers of “Isis” collar did not reach down far enough, I used the “Tigress Top” from Apple May Design. As it is a mesh body applier it fit perfectly under the feathers. Certainly a tattoo cannot miss when I style something like this :p This time I wanted something special and so the silver “Genius” tattoo from White Widow was the perfect match. I never made a secret out of it, that White Widow is my favourite tattoo brand… did I? *grins*

Ninja 6

I thought a little bit until I got the idea… but certainly a warrior needs some armor 😉 At least some that looks great for the pictures*giggles*

[LAB737] makes the most amazing armor parts I ever saw. So detailed and as well used looking makes them very realistic and I could not resist to add parts of the “Dragoon” armor to my left arm.

Ninja 2

Now the most complicated to get good pictures – I needed a good Katana and as well cool poses which did not just look like fighting. Certainly I could have sat hours and hours and make me some but then… still the good Katana would be missing since I just had som super old prim ones who kinda looked disgusting for nowadays standard. So I did what I usually do when I am looking for something special… I went to SL Marketplace 🙂

Ninja 4

I found a very little store, with just a few items for sale on MP and instantly fell in love with the “Katana Pose Collection”. A whole set with many variations of 10 different poses and 2 amazing handcrafted Katanas. Even more I was surprised that they were made for a female warrior, so exactly what I wanted. The poses do look more show or performance like than, fighting itself and so they were the perfect animations for the pictures.

Ninja 1

First I tried to build me a photo set, but soon I realized – I do not have the right items nor the knowledge of buildings and sceneries, that would suit the ideas and satisfy the styling. I jumped into the SL search and looked for places with key words like: japanese, warrior, ninja, katana and many more until I found “Kowloon”, a little island, which was empty when I arrived but the buildings and the garden was incredible beautiful. While I was shooting, the sim filled up more and more, but I did not see anyone around me and I became curious. I started to cam around, to spy silently, when I found an arena with a hell of a lot people who had begun a fight. I was so excited to see that, to see them fighting with Katanas and all kind of asian weapons, that I stopped shooting for a bit and just watched without disturbing them. I had so much fun watching them, that I nearly forgot to finish my shooting. It was an amazing afternoon and as well a lot of fun and I enjoyed the trip to a past time, that is totally new to me.

Lady in Red

I’ve never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright
I’ve never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
Looking for a little romance, given half a chance
I have never seen that dress you’re wearing
Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes
I have been blind

Azul 2

Lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek
There’s nobody here, it’s just you and me, it’s where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I’ll never forget, the way you look tonight

I’ve never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing
I’ve never seen so many people wanna be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled, it took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight

LOTD 05/22/2016 – Landscape, Scenery or Editorial?

Sometimes it is a hard decision how you want your photo to look like.

This time I was pondering a lot between an editorial look, or just find a matching landscape or if I wanna build a scenery on my platform.

I started with roaming around sims to find an ice location first when Anderian IMed me and we talked about editorial shots. I told her I am looking for something modern hippy looking when she suggested to just try google for 70s editorial fashion shots.

And there my vision of a landscape did go… now I wanted to do an editorial one :p

Enough of story telling about sceneries, let’s get the view on the clothing 😉

The amazing “Happy Stroll in the Rain” jeans from Whimsical Imaginarium are the base of my todays styling. I got those amazing pants from Bodza, while we were talking and I fell immediately in love with them. I have a heart for wide flaired bell bottom pants in RL as well… I am not a 70s person, I was born in the 70s so the basic late 70s trends did pass me by while being a little child. Even if I remember some of those being in my wardrobe.. especially those weird wide dresses that started to get wide under the chest…

Now you gonna say ‘Oh yeah there is millions of those pants on the grid’ but well.. those catched my eyes because of the amazing texture and as well with the idea of having one lower leg colored different. To cover the color break on the knee, Bodza put some delicate lace and as well to repeat the colors ( yes I am a friend of no standalone colors… :p ) one oft the back pockets has the same color.

The amazing textured top is made by Asia Rae and it was a perfect addition to the amazing jeans – style and colorwise 😉 The “Demy Crop Top” comes with a color HUD so you can customize the top to your needs colorwise.

For the jewelry I decided to go for a mix and match of 2 different Kungler sets and an amazing necklace from Charm. The cool glasses that did underline the modern 70s look I got from agapee. They are kinda funny to use, as they come with a HUD that lets you move the glasses up to your head with an animation and as well you have 3 options for the glasses to fold the front side up.

For the hair I decided to go with a new style from Truth, which was released on the actual round of the Enchantment event.  The hair is very versatile too as you get different options for the forehead part and several sizes for all kind of chest sizes.

The best shoes to go for todays look were wedges (Grand I can hear you on that one and believe me, usually I am not a friend of wedges myself, but that look simply called for them!)

The “Oksana Leather Heels” from [MODA] actually did not look that bad and with their huge HUD – all of their shoes have that huge HUD – it was quite easy to match them in color to the rest of the look 🙂

Since I wanted something clean and editorial looking, as well as something with sit poses – which are so underestimated in so many blogs – I tried my luck on the “Lovers Crate Seat” from Shutter Field. The poses in that little cube are quite awesome, they just did not go too well with my outfit, so I just tried random poses out of my inventory to make it work. I realized very fast that having long legs and being a little bit above the average in terms of height, makes sitting a huge challenge :p . But with some minor graphic surgery even that worked out quite well. Since I am not that great skilled in working with editing programs, I can promise it really only was minor fixing 😉

So in the end, it was the editorial version for today, but like I said to Tempe lately when we talked – and she agreed with me – … every style, every look, can call for something special. I neither wanna miss the fun roaming around on sims to find amazing locations, nor I would like to just have self-built sceneries or only white screened pictures for my blog. It is a lot about moods, feelings and emotions, that make me decide what the end result will be 😉

Wasteland Vamp with Asteria & Enfant Terrible

Asteria 1

Sometimes you put on an outfit and you already know what you want it to look like :p

Exactly that happened to me with the “Tanya” outfit from Asteria.

Asteria 2

The outfit contains the amazing top, high-waisted panties and the incredible gitternet skirt. The top is decorated with some delicate lace at the bottom and the panties can be worn with or without the skirt. It is available in many different colors, but since I am addicted to black, I certainly used the black option 🙂

Asteria 3

With the golden metal studs on the skirt and the very cool collar with the long leather tassels, this outfit called for something additional golden to me and so I chose the “Emma’s Halo” head-piece from Enfant Terrible in gold.

The amazing long and elegant gloves I picked from the “Charlotte” outfit from GizzA.

Asteria 5

The “Patch Mechanics” from .shi and the amazing “Rift Lip Paint” from Deche just made the finish of the look to me. The awesome boots are made by [MODA]. The come with a huge HUD, that lets you customize the boots in any way you think, so you can fit them to your outfit.

The amazing scenery I found at the wastelands. I loved the shape of the structure as it went so well with the shape of the headpiece and just gave the right ambience and feeling to what I wanted for my pictures.
