My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss USA 2013 by SoliDeaFoliEs & Chop Zuey

MVW - Miss USA national full

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. One evening gown and one national costume for each lady. Every year when I saw the MVW finale it was an exciting moment to see the results, that designers and models worked on for so many weeks. Last year I took the challenge to make a full catalogue of all the gowns and costumes. The idea must have inspired some bloggers this year and they started to do that for the MVW 2013 designs. I decided for my own not to do the same again and just would like to showcase my personal favourites. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order :)

The beautiful costume for Miss V USA 2013, Miss Imani Enzo, was made by Mila Tatham, owner and designer of SoliDeaFoliEs. For this special costume I guess the picture says more than words 😉 The Statue of Liberty for most of the people is the landmark of the USA. Mila Tatham made this landmark look very sexy and fashionable. The torch is for sure part of the outfit and you can choose if you use the one with the animation in it, like I did for the picture or if you use it without animation and play your own ones 🙂

Imani Enzo:

“My gown is inspired by the Statue of Liberty. Lady Liberty is perhaps one of the most iconic symbols of American Culture. I chose her because she looks like a goddess, stands for freedom, and demonstrates the resilience of our great nation. My heartfelt thanks goes to Mila Tatham and Belle Roussel, the amazing designers who brought to SLife my vision for a modern take on Lady Liberty’s timeless beauty, strength, and elegance.

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss Netherlands 2013 by GizzA

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. The next national costume I would love to show you is made by GizzA for the Miss V Netherlands 2013, Miss Linnda Scofield. I have to admit as I saw this outfit during the MVW 2013 finals, I had to look 3 times as I could not believe what I saw… The “Linnda’s Dutch Breeze” is more a piece of art than an outfit for me. Linnda was pulling a whole meadow behind her with some super cute windmills on it. The dress itself has great color changed from the top to the bottom. It starts with a red chest part. Its prims reminded me of the typical tulips that we all know for the Netherlands. It turns green like the down part of a tulip and then the great meadow starts that finished in a wonderful brown tone. For me it really is a wonderful design that perfectly represents the Netherlands and a lot of its typical symbols.

Linnda Scofield:

“For my national gown I used the Dutch landscape as my inspiration. The Dutch countryside is known for its meadows, windmills and flowers like tulips. Giz has made a great combination of the dutch properties and created an amazing and wonderful gown.”

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. The national costume of Miss V Portugal 2013, Miss Jade Spectre, made me look up. Between all the gowns and costumes I saw one of a sudden pants and boots… That I had to see closer and I tried to zoom on Jade without crashing during the MVW 2013 finale. The pants made a light masculine, strong look. Paired with the super feminine ruffles and the detailed textures of Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau, just made a perfect outfit that for me and a great representation of portuguese tradition and history. For a better information about that, I would like to quote Jade herself with her little text for her national costume.

Jade Spectre:

“I wanted to pay tribute to the Cavaleiros – the remarkable women bullfighters who represent the rich history and long-standing traditions of the Portuguese culture. My respect for these women goes really deep and is unique to the Portuguese culture, so I decided I wanted to also bring that to the Miss Virtual World Pageant, but with a totally different approach to the style and design. Still specific to the theme, but with a more couture flair.

These brave women perform on horseback in rich 18th century, colorful and extravagant designs. The Portuguese tradition of bull fighting is more compassionate and more of a show of tradition than other forms of bullfighting. Other than the Cavaleiros riding on horseback, they nor do the Matadors of Portugal kill the bull during the ceremony, nor do they harm it in any way.

The costume is highly detailed with rich gold accents, trim, brocade, and embroidery. The undershirt, pants, cuffs and back of the jacket are very detailed in gold embellishment. The colors of the Portuguese flag – red, green and gold are represented, but in different shades to make the costume more authentic and comparable to the actual costumes of the Cavaleiros. Therefore we used the custom green of the Portuguese Flag, mixed with a deep burgundy transition to represent the red of the flag. The gorgeous ruffle collar and skirt along with the skirt attachment give a touch of modern couture to the design. The authentic hat, patterned trousers, broad shoulders, and arm cuffs are very important to the look of the costume reflect the strength of those women and replicates details of their true costumes. I chose this National Costume to honor the women of Portugal in modern and present day society, and their place in Portuguese culture and history.”

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss Poland 2013 by Vero Modero & Chop Zuey

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order :)

The wonderful “Audrey Cresci Gown” was made by Bouquet Babii, owner and designer of Vero Modero. The dress is stunning in its simplicity. The combination of a mesh corset with a ruffled down end and the flexible skirt with the open front add a very playful and as well sexy touch to the whole look. The wonderful red and green ornaments that decorate the skirt and the chest part of the corset show perfectly that sometimes less is more 🙂

Audrey Cresci:

“My National Costume designed by talented designer Bouquet Babii. We were inspired by the costumes of Poland’s famous Polka dancers and modernized the look. We have applied the interrogate embroidery of Polish folkloric handcrafters.
Flower ornaments are the most characteristic expression of Polish art and architecture. As well it takes role in many Polish traditions. Thats why I used flower figure as the main element of my gown and Jewelery.
In Poland more than a thousand years ago single girls wore wreaths of flowers on their heads. They throw to fire their wreaths  on the eve of St. John June 22 with the St. John’s fires as an offering to the gods to find their love of life.”

The stunning jewelry was made by Belle Roussel, genius owner and designer of Chop Zuey. As far as I remember the MVW 2013 finale, Belle was the most busy jewelry designer for this years Miss Virtual World contest. The “Pompeii” set made a wonderful addition to the polish look. With the filigree metal parts and the little gems it went perfectly with the amazing ornaments of the dress. You can choose between a set with red gems or black gems 🙂

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss Italy 2013 by [AD] Creations

MVW - Miss Italy National Full

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. I decided for my own not to do the same again and just would like to showcase my personal favourites. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order :)

The italian community was always very strong represented in many MVW challenges… like we had Mimmi Boa 2009 winning the crown, Mavi Beck in 2010 in the top 10, Angels Milena in 2011 in the top 12 and Anna Sapphire as winner of the MVW 2012 crown and again Italy was able to place on the winner stairs with a 1st runner-up in 2013!

Now come to one costume where I had a bit of background information from our Miss Italy 2013, Miss Natzuka Miliandrovic. She is originally from Venice in Italy and I really like if models try to represent their own home country. But Nat even went a step further and chose 2 italian designers as well for her 2 gowns. The national costume was made by Aliza Karu, owner and designer of [AD] creations. Since the costume did not have the typical italian colors.. what mostly are considered red, green and white like the flag… I asked Nat what the inspiration was for her national gown and what she said really kinda touched my heart…

Natzuka Miliandrovic:

“It does not make any sense, the one who knows you and does not love you, Italy.”
This was the feeling expressed by “Vincenzo Monti” and that represents the italian Renaissance, the historical period that redefined Italy and its artistic and politic identity in Europe. The inspiration from this national costume by Aliza Karu, comes from the desire and expectation of a modern cultural and artistic rebirth of my country.  The costume is a quotations of the incredible work of art of “Antonio Canova”, the venetian sculpture that is one the symbols of the italian Renaissance. The dress flow softly in its precious textures and transparencies and it reminds the voluptuous mediterranean women portrayed by Canova, with a particular referral to his sculpture “La venere italica” of which was said “It flatters the paradise in this valley of tears” and that clearly explain that the meaning of the beauty, in Italy, it doesn’t lie in an empty admiration, but it’s a need for comfort the soul.”

MVW - Miss Italy National Close

The very artistic “Miss Nat” gown is partwise mesh made and as well has flexible prims. The sheer top gives a very sexy touch to the very elegant and artistic rest of the design. The shoulder part with the chain over the right shoulder that holds the little jewelry part is a great contrast to the ruffled arm part on the left side. The ruffles are repeated in the back for the amazing train and the little shining silver decorations you will find again on the wonderful skirt. The incredible head-piece, the wonderful tiara that as well carries the silver and the ruffles is part of the beautiful “Miss Nat” dress as well.

To get your “Miss Nat” gown you just have to visit the [AD] Creations Mainstore, as far as I know, it is now available there 😉

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss Ireland 2013 by Champagne! Sparkling Couture

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order :)

Today I have the pleasure to continue my personal favourites with the national costume of Miss V Ireland 2013, Miss Sessie 16. The amazing designer behind this wonderful design is Enzo Champagne, owner and designer of Champagne! Sparkling Couture.

The “Celtic Ireland” outfit is made as a full outfit with all jewelry and accessories. The only parts I had to add was hair, skin, makeup, shoes and nails. he green color stands for Ireland. The green gains impact in combination with its complementary colour orange.

The golden celtic ornaments on the arm parts complete the perfect traditional look of the whole dress.

Sessie16:

“After much research into Ireland, I came to realize there isn’t a national costume for them. So I decided to look up more modern gowns models have worn in pageants when I came across a gown wore by Rebecca Maguire Miss Ireland for 2012, which is very much Celtic representing the beautiful country Ireland.”

The huge back accessory, earrings, headpiece, armlets and as well the wonderful belt with some typical irish accessories are part of the “Celtic Ireland” outfit. It seems Enzo and Sessie did a lot of research for the national costume and created an amazing fashionable dress for the MVW 2013 competition 🙂 The “Celtic Ireland” is now available at the Champagne! My personal favourites of the MVW 2013 – National Costume of Miss Turkey by Tres Beau & Chop Zuey

MVW - Miss Turkey National Full

First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order 🙂

Today I would like to start with the national costume of Miss V Turkey 2013. The “Miss Turkey 2013” gown was made by Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau. Tres Beau is one of the designers that contributes creations to the Miss Virtual World finale for years. What always amazes me on the Tres Beau national costumes, is that it seems Kimmer Madison does a hell of research for each country she gets asked. The colors, the textures, the designs are always go along the real traditional clothing of the respective country. The “Miss Turkey 2013” costume is textured with wonderful filigree and rich colors of gold and red. The wonderful ornaments show the love and the eye for the detail Kimmera puts on her creations. The body part of the gown is made of a wonderful mesh prim that you will get in different sizes to make sure it fits your shape as well. The wonderful flexible parts of the skirt and arms give the whole creation a typical traditional, oriental and turkish look. If you take a closer look of the 2 pictures you will see a difference for the headpiece. I wanted to showcase the gown with all its parts and as well the whole jewelry set, that Miss Nice Wildrose was wearing for the finale.

Nice Wildrose:

“My inspiration for my national look is Hurrem Sultan, the wife of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent who played an important role in the Ottoman history and was an influential figure for the women of Harem and other denizens of the palace.”

MVW - Miss Turkey National Close

The “Hurrem” jewelry was made by Belle Roussel, owner and designer of Chop Zuey. Belle created a wonderful set of earrings, necklace, tiara and ring. The tiara is made with 2 parts, you just add the one attachment over the other. The combination of the gold metal with the white, red, green and black gems matches the costume perfectly. Each part is made of so many single prims, that you just can imagine how long Belle had to sit at her workshop to put all of these together 🙂

You can get the “Miss Turkey 2013” costume at the Tres Beau Mainstore and the “Hurrem” jewelry you will find at the Chop Zuey Mainstore.

I would like to lead your view on the hair I chose for this post. The “Desireme” hair was made by Leah McCullough. Leah reactivated her brand Naive and you can buy already a few different items including this hair style on Marketplace. The “Desireme” hair is available in 8 different colors. Leah made the hair modify so that you can change the color or the texture to your own likings. For the colors she provides she made hairbases as well, wich you can as well recolor to match the hair style.

News and Spectacular Christmas Special at Mea Culpa!!!

Wicca Siren full

Today I am very happy to showcase one of the latest Mea Culpa releases. The “Call of the Sirene” outfit again is a little piece of art of Tatanka Kaligawa, owner and designer of Mea Culpa.

The “Call of the Sirene” outfit was made for the last Fashion Teller and it’s inspiration were the historical Sirens.

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous and devious creatures, portrayed as femmes fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets placed them on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli. In some later, rationalized traditions, the literal geography of the “flowery” island of Anthemoessa, or Anthemusa, is fixed: sometimes on Cape Pelorum and at others in the islands known as the Sirenuse, near Paestum, or in Capreae. All such locations were surrounded by cliffs and rocks.

When the Sirens were given a name of their own they were considered the daughters of the river god Achelous, fathered upon Terpsichore, Melpomene, Sterope, or Chthon. Although they lured mariners, for the Greeks the Sirens in their “meadow starred with flowers” were not sea deities. Roman writers linked the Sirens more closely to the sea, as daughters of Phorcys. Sirens are found in many Greek stories, particularly in Homer’s Odyssey.

Their number is variously reported as between two and five. In the Odyssey, Homer says nothing of their origin or names, but gives the number of the Sirens as two. Later writers mention both their names and number: some state that there were three, Peisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepeia or Parthenope, Ligeia, and Leucosia; Eustathius states that they were two, Aglaopheme and Thelxiepeia. Their individual names are variously rendered in the later sources as Thelxiepeia/Thelxiope/Thelxinoe, Molpe, Aglaophonos/Aglaope/Aglaopheme, Pisinoe/Peisinoë/Peisithoe, Parthenope, Ligeia, Leucosia, Raidne, and Teles.

The Sirens of Greek mythology are often confused with the Gorgons portrayed in later folklore as half women–half birds, (birds sing beautiful, enchanting songs, like the sirens are portrayed to do); the fact that in Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Romanian and Portuguese the word for mermaid is respectively Sirena, Sirène, Sirena, Syrena, Sirenă and Sereia, and that in biology the Sirenia comprise an order of fully aquatic mammals that includes the dugong and manatee, add to the visual confusion, so that Sirens are even represented as mermaids. However, “the sirens, though they sing to mariners, are not sea-maidens,” Jane Ellen Harrison has cautioned; “they dwell on an island in a flowery meadow.

Tatanka Kaligawa made his own vision of a modern and fashionable Siren come true with his latest creation;)

Wicca’s Wardrobe: A Tribute to Rita Hayworth

Wicca - Rita Hayworth Full 003

TUNES (Put the Blame on Mame – Rita Hayworth)

Rita Hayworth was an american actress and dancer. Her greatest success she had in the 40’s, where her fans gave her the nick “The Love Goddess”. With the movie “Gilda“, she acted side by side with Glenn Ford. This movie made Rita and Glenn one of the most well-known love couples of the movie history and the role of the dancer Gilda who drove so many guys nuts is always affiliated with Rita Hayworth. A very famous scene from that movie as well is the song “Blame on Mame” that I linked above where Rita Hayworth takes off her long black glove 🙂

27_jean_louis-theredlist1

The styling itself was not even planned like this as I only searched for an appropriate outfit for the Miss Virtual World 2013 finale. I combined parts of PurpleMoon’s “Falbala” dress with skirt of the “Paulinha” gown from Azul. The jewelry as well is a mix of 2 different sets of Finesmith, the “Falbala” bracelet and gown decor paired with the “Radiance” earrings and necklace. The coat, that I carry in my left hand is part of Tres Beau‘s “Diana” outfit. I was not wearing it at the finale of MVW 2013 but for the picture I wanted to, it was an amazing detail I did not wanna miss 😉 I just recolored the white to a golden tone to match the jewelry.

In the end it was Malicia Python, who brought me on the idea of Rita Hayworth as we talked and I was thinking of a background and scenery for snapping the styling.

One of the most popular pictures of Rita Hayworth is the one you can see above. I kinda loved the challenge to make my version of this wonderful classy and still sexy image and so I tried to make a pose that comes close to the one on the picture. At the end the cigarette could not be missing and I found a wonderful sculpted one from Meli Imako, that I just had to texture by myself 🙂 In the end I really liked the idea of my own vision of this little “Rita Hayworth goes SL” and I hope you enjoy it as well 😉
