Dreams or Reality?

I am sure you know what I mean… those “memories” that never leave us even if their clarity fades and they get kinda blurry?
Those things we do not really want to remember, but we can’t completely forget?
I do have those and from time to time they do knock me out for a while. The older I become, the more those memories become emotions and I do forget the exact moment of my life. Sometimes they do feel like faded or blurred echoes. Sometimes they even feel kinda unreal to me, even if I know, that it happened. Exactly that kind of feelings I wanted to bring on my pictures and to me it worked πŸ™‚
I was trying and thinking about that for a longer time, but I never felt like it came out right.
The poses from Le Poppycock, which I found while I was looking for another pose set, gave me the idea, how I could manage to picture my feelings. To bring emotions on pictures, is always a hard challenge for me as I feel it very difficult to bring those on a static picture. Emotions are very personal and everybody will have different impressions and/or expressions of a certain picture.
To me it was the outfit from Enfant Terible, an innocent, sweet dancer outfit with ballet shoes, the dark vibe of the dark vibe of the Asylum from Ex Machina and the morbid skeleton paired with the amazing poses from Le Poppycock, that made the perfect contrast and as well the controversial and mixed feelings I do have with such moments. I did abstain from strong make up to give the whole look a more pure and fragile look. The lightly messy hair from no.match was perfect for the style as well, it underlined the desperation in some way for me with all the wisps and strands of hair.

The “Welcome Home Asylum” from Ex Machina is an amazing background for pictures. It does have 2 different cells and a hallway in front of it. The backdrop has 4 active light sources – 2 in the cells and 2 in the hallway – which can be turned off or edited through your edit window. The whole backdrop looks best, if you turn advanced lightning on, as all textures are baked and use advanced lightning model materials. But even without that high graphic settings it looks stunning and detailed. I really adore Hatti’s texturing skills… Hatris Panacek, owner and genius designer of Ex Machina, states herself that she was inspired by the horrors of the insane asylums of the past catching those creepy atmospheres you can still find in some abandoned structures around the world. I just wanted to share those non edited peeks on the backdrop, because my pictures are dark and I did not want to miss to show all those lovely details of the backdrop – at least the 2 rooms that I used for this pictures. For the other one I will have another post soon πŸ˜‰

I do enjoy the winter season!

Sometimes we need a challenge, I guess to make sure we are still able to do some things πŸ˜‰

So I thought about a sweet casual winter post in my very own style, but still tried to be the “good girl”*snickers* I love the cape that Hotdog had at the last Weβ™₯RP event. They had a full version with optional ribbons, which is amazing as well and they had put one version without ribbons but with some snow over the shoulders as a gift.

When I put on the cape the first time, I immediately had the vision of a Victorian look with a great up-do hair style. I loved the idea of having the hands in that cute muff in front of the belly. Certainly that requires to alpha the whole arms and hands, but it still interacts nicely with every kind of animation and pose. Looking at the cape, did more and more bring up the desire inside of me to create a different look than the initial Victorian idea.

I remembered the cool FRWL gacha from Salt & Pepper – that brought me to a new idea for my look. I did trow away the skirt idea and looked for some pants that did fit under the cape. When I found the right pants. I realized, that my upper body blinked through with some poses and so I just used a dark body applier shirt to cover that since I wouldn’t be seen anyways, but it covered the little spots that some movements brought up. The cape has a wonderful and huge golden ornament on the back and some little ones at the front as accents and I am really amazed by the folds and wrinkles that make it so realistic looking.

For the matching makeup I chose the one with some snowflakes on the face to gt a little more into the snow mood I wanted for my picture.

First I thought about a desaturated dead tree environment with lots of snow but not much else. With the beige fur on the cape, the head piece and the warm black tone the blue/black background I imagined, did not work out that great as I thought. That put me on a sim hoping journey and I found a lot of cool places for future posts, but not that what I was looking for. Suddenly I remembered, what Skye told me, when I asked her about a wintery sim. She is the expert for everything beautiful and sweet and she has a long past in Second Life as well πŸ˜‰ She suggested Nymphai, one of the sims of the Ippos Collective. Duchess and Divine and many others do an incredible job to decorate their sim collective. They change for every season and have different themes on each of their sims. Some of them as well have residentials available and you have to be careful to not violate the Inhabitants’ peace and freedom πŸ˜‰

Now I have to make some more looks for all the amazing sims I found on my little sim trip πŸ˜‰ Enjoy the winter, even if it is cold – it has it’s advantages as well if you can get into it πŸ˜‰

Winter Thoughts

Today, just a ‘quicky’ as I had fun doing a picture with this look, but posing the coat drove me nuts…

Do you know that feeling if you are trying to make a picture with some cool poses and then long coats or skirts do not cooperate due game mechanics? It is so frustrating. I do not wanna tilt my picture sideways, just because I do want to have a picture where you can see the full outfit! I realized that it became some kind of a trend to just tilt your pictures 90 degrees, but to be honest… I don’t like that for myself. I always have the desire to tilt my monitor to see those pictures the right way and that can get pretty annoying to me. I love sit, crouch and leaning poses a lot more than just simple standing poses. With my usual blog pictures size, I get more ambiance and landscapes into pictures, than the actual outfit I do want to showcase. I do not know what it is, that I try to get away from simple standing poses… maybe they are not emotional enough to me anymore, because I saw and used them too many times on the runway and on pictures. Especially if you have some details like shoes, hair or rings, you don’t want to do crops only all the time and specific poses or special poses with a little more. Speaking of shoes, the shoes I am wearing for this post are from [Gos]. Those cute ankle boots with the sharp tip, are the perfect addition to the cool nearly vintage/Victorian looking coat from Hotdog. I do like to break the typical style rules and combine different items from different epochs πŸ˜‰

As usual the amazing 3 HUDs – Boutique, Blueberry and Metallic – are available for the “Hurley Ankle Boots”. The have a quite wide shaft and so you can manage to wear some mesh pants with them.

The cool hair, which usually is way too modern for the coat, but matches the booties so nicely is one of the latest releases from no.match at the Cosmopolitan event. I do have an addiction to short hair πŸ˜‰

I wanted a winter scenery for my picture, but not the usual shiny, sweet winter wonderland type… I wanted something more dark, desert and lonely looking, BUT I wanted to rez that amazing “Building Remains” structure, that DRD released for the actual round of their Eclipse event. Probably you can imagine if you search for a certain type of location AND would like to rez something, that can drive you nuts and most of the time you will end up building one yourself. I was simply to lazy today to do that :p I finally found a spot on Luanes Winter World sim. I just had to de-rez a few of the sweet things and it worked! I was so happy with that, as I already thought that will take hours to find what I was imagining.

We have designed the Aurelia coat…it is a long coat with a well worn look. It has an open belt encircling your waist and a window into your mechanical heart. It comes with a texture HUD that gives you options between 5 dark colors for the body of the coat and 3 metals for all the accents and parts of the mechanical heart. For Maitreya only.

I rarely dress up to go shopping, clubbing or socializing – Usually I just wear the last outfit I blogged as I had that styled up anyways :p But today I felt not really blogging and I just put on some things I bought lately. With each piece I added I liked the look more – something I really did not feel for a long time and I have to admit… I like it! So this will be an “unscheduled” just the way I am picture series πŸ™‚ This look could be something I could imagine wearing on tour, or on stage with the band as well.

Yesterday I had a blast and it happened out of the blue… Nefertiti Kimagawa IMed me! I did not hear from her in ages and I was totally excited when I saw her IM popping up. We talked a little while about what we had done in the meantime and when I told her, I did open my own store she came over to see it. Certainly I had to TP down and when I landed I saw a tall, awesome demon. It really reminded me of good old times and we indulged in reminiscences about her store and as well about Claim the Fame, a designers contest we did years ago with SL Art Couture. Nefer was one of the contestants. I even still had a vendor picture where she used me as a model for an outfit and helmet called Wicca – I still remember how honored I felt when she named it after me. All of a sudden I saw an orange cloud right beside us – Nefer TPed someone… it was Kalyabreeaa Capelo! The designer of Mad Diva and my personal hero for the first avant garde bikini back in 2011 (https://wiccamerlin.de/can-swimwear-be-avantgarde-or-couture-mad-diva-shows-it/) It felt so crazy, to have 2 old friends in our store now, while I was blogging for them years ago, when I worked as a model *snickers* I tried to convince both of them to design again, as I really miss their awesome, crazy and avant garde ideas!

I never thought it would be so much fun to roll back in time for a few moments and think about all the cool things we did – but it really felt amazing and it put a smile on my face. I hope that it won’t take as long until we meet again πŸ™‚

As if that would not already have been the best evening for ages, Kaly mentioned she would TP another “model granny” over and before I could ask – Latrelly Flux rezzed in! OMG that really became a dinosaur revival :p I did not see all of them in ages, neither we talked, but it felt so good to se them again and while we were talking, it became more and more as we would have never stopped talking. I again felt like the dwarf between those ladies – as always – even if I am now not as high as I used to be as a model… even back then I was the tiniest πŸ˜‰

I do not wanna roll back the time, but we really had great times back then. Modeling was completely different.. and alive.We did not have as many events and designers really created full collections a few time of the year and not just one new outfit for a monthly event. We had Fashion Weeks or Designer Showcases to release their newest collections and it was really fun. They booked us for vendor shoots and I remember very well how honored and proud we felt, being used as vendor model – It really was a privilege and sometimes we even got paid for it.

I do not want to say, in the past everything was better – things change with time and future not just brings negative things, if you are able to develop and adapt new ways of doing tings. It is hard to release the past, especially if it was a nice one, but even if things change and force you to change it can be something good. Most of the time if you stick too hard to the past, it will hurt you and as well it will stop you from developing forward. I learned that more than once, but if you made your peace with that – it isn’t that painful and more and it happens way faster and easier, as if you fight against it everyday πŸ™‚

I hope I made sense with what I was trying to say… in the end I am no native English speaker, but I try my best πŸ˜‰

From Russia with Love… maybe not Russia, but with Love ;)

Yesterday we had the first real snow over here, which was on the ground longer than just a few minutes before it did melt again. But it did not survive the night ;(

But while it was snowing big flakes yesterday, I was in such a winter mood, I could not resist to grab the awesome “FRWL” gacha set from Salt & Pepper and play with it a little. What caught my attention was one of the rares. FRWL means From Russia with Love and the set was built for the actual round of Epiphany. What caught my attention, was the way how the coat falls and the incredible texture of the fur. I rarely saw a coat falling so realistic and even moving awesome with all kind of poses. But the texture did really blow me away. Usually if you see fur in Second Life, it is a lot of alpha and some blurry textures to get the feeling of fur and that often gives you a headache with pictures as you have all kind of alpha glitches all over with your background and hair, if you not just use a plain wall.

The cool hair certainly was made by no.match πŸ˜‰ I never made a secret out of the fact, that I am a no.match addicted for hair :p This time it is the release for the actual round of the Tres Chic event. With the curly hair, it gave the whole look a not as strict and classy look and I could use some sexy boots with over-knee socks from Eudora 3d to complete the look.

I was thinking a lot about a background for this look. First I was thinking about an airport scenery, but I could not find any with snow around. Then I tried some kind of shopping mall, but that just did not look right at all. In the end Í decided to look for a sweet winter location, which I found with Luanes Winter World. When I joined the goup wich was for free, I even could rez my pose stand and some extra snow here and there πŸ˜‰ Certainly there is a way, where you can still put stuff around you even if you can’t rez – you simply can attach everything to your body and when you found your pose you can edit it and move it all in place. But just rezzing it is way more easy! When I was done I just explored the sim a little more and found a lot of other corners, which would be great for pictures, so I am sure that was not my last visit there…

It was time again for some futuristic ideas πŸ˜‰ Some times I do like to give myself some challenges and today, I wanted to bring together the awesome “Aglaya Latex Cyber Collar” – made by A&Y – and the super cute “Frenchie Ankle Boots” from [Gos]. Latex collar and some rough cloth looking ankle boots with a shiny leather tip. I made it a challenge for me to combine 2 complete different fabrics and none of both should look out of place, or have more impact than the other – if that makes sense. I wanted them to shine together with each other and not compete against. I looked though my inventory to balance out the style. The first day I tried it I was nearly giving up as nothing seemed to work – I already was about to use the full “Aglaya” set from A&Y as it goes so perfectly together. But I already blogged the other parts a few times (I still do love them like mad), plus I did not want to throw my first challenge of the year so quickly πŸ˜‰

I had to find the right balance and fabrics to put together my look. After a while I found a top, that played directly in my hands with those different fabrics and so I had hope again that this could work out nevertheless! The “Ellie Corset Top”, a collaboration of Azuchi and Vinyl. I do have that for a longer time and for today it was the perfect choice. The top has a matte fabric, while the corset has the perfect shiny look. For the arms I used one one arm some classic opera gloves, which I pimped with the cool “Pyper 69 Upper Arm” bracelet. On the other arm I went with the bento enabled “Nemesis Arms” from Wicca’s Wardrobe with the shiny metal plates. The latex skirt from United Colors and some Nylon stockings connected the upper with the bottom and the crazy “Medusa Cyber Hair”, as well from A&Y, combined with the “Disco Glasses from #187#gave the whole style a futuristic look. Since the look already is so full of details I decided to use a more simple background to get a more editorial looking picture.

Let’s see what mood I am in for the next post πŸ˜‰

Makeup Spotlight: ALMA Makeup Part I

I know it was a while since my last post, but sometimes RL hits you right in your face and you are kinda knocked out for a while

Holidays were unexpected not that nice as I planned it. My ex boss man, the principal of the school I am working for, nearly a paternal friend of mine, died on the 22nd of December while he was on tour with his bicycle. I was in shock as that would have been the last I expected… I saw him a week before that happened and he seemed healthier than ever before, he even said he never felt so good. He had great plans for his pensioner life. He wanted to travel, visit his family and even do some really exciting things he wasn’t able to do while he was working. But life planned different… while he was enjoying nature – he did that a lot – a cardiac infarction pulled him off his bicycle…

As if that would not be enough, 2 days later a friend of mine told meΒ  – while I was sending him Merry Christmas – that the doctors stopped his medical treatment and he would only have a few more days to live. Coming right after the first punch it really knocked me down. I wasn’t able to really think straight for about a week and I needed another to recover from that and sort my brain again. Those things show you, how lucky you are if you are still alive and kinda healthy – besides a few things that age brings with it.

This being said I try to find my way back into life and come back with some pictures I did before that all happened…

ALMA – “GEAR Makeup”

I had the great pleasure to do a makeup tutorial for the last Eclipse Magazine issue and I wanted to share at least a few of the pictures with you on my blog πŸ˜‰ ALMA probably is not a usual mainstream makeup store but they do have a few very unique and extraordinary face art pieces πŸ˜‰

Since it would have been boring to use only my face all the time I experimented a little bit with some of my mesh heads, which I usually wear only for vendors (for the same reason). It was a cool challenge, as I had a lot of attention on the different faces and so I was forced to work on shaping a lot again. I have to admit a few I really liked in the end πŸ˜‰ It again showed me how much you can work on a face to make it fit different makeups. Especially the “GEAR” makeup took me a while, until I had the shape figured out to not destroy the cool circle around the eye. First I thought about to do only head shots but with those impressive makeups, I wanted to add some attitude. With a few accessories and my awesome Axis HUD from LeLutka (to make facial expressions) it really was a lot of fun. I never worked so much with faces and expressions only before, but I have to admit it won’t be my last makeup special πŸ˜‰
