I am usually not writing about any political stuff but I think it is about time to change that – at least for this post…

Lately more and more I am getting scared how the society of the world changes. You can see more and more people having anxieties, about how they shall manage their lives. In that condition it is easy to blame other people for the misery instead of realizing that is something that can be changed in a different way. In Europe right-wing radical political parties getting more and more votes and follower. Racism is more relevant than ever.. again – SADLY!

I grew up with all kind of kids from all over the world and I do not remember, that back then it ever was that way, that people pointed with fingers on people coming from other countries. That people got yelled at for trying to escape from countries with war and try to find a new home. I was raised to show respect to fellow humans anyway what their skin color is, where they came from or where their ancestors were born – it just did not matter, we are all humans after all!

We should remember that all countries experienced and experience war and many people flew and found a new home somewhere in the world. Why we now make a difference? Did we not learn out of history, to what that leads if we go against others in such a way? Can we not try to solve problems together instead of going against each other?

In such times, when you kinda feel it is hopeless there are always people who have the creativity and the strength to stand up and stand out. There was a project in a school not too far from me, and I know some of the people who helped to realize that project. I just HAVE to share it here, too! It is a song written by a teacher and his students, performed by students, school-band and choir. If we have still kids who think that way and are strong enough to stand up against racism – there is hope!!!

It is written and sung in German but I tried to at least translate the chorus (at the top) to make clear what it is about. The video is impressive, very professional and I guess it does transport the message very well 😉

Please stay human, stay strong, raise your voice and keep the hope that times will change again and people will realize that we only can survive TOGETHER!!!

Gruesome Ghoul

The gruesome ghoul, the grisly ghoul,
without the slightest noise
waits patiently beside the school
to feast on girls and boys.
He lunges fiercely through the air
as they come out to play,
then grabs a couple by the hair
and drags them far away.
He cracks their bones and snaps their backs
and squeezes out their lungs,
he chews their thumbs like candy snacks
and pulls apart their tongues.
He slices their stomachs and bites their hearts
and tears their flesh to shreds,
he swallows their toes like toasted tarts
and gobbles down their heads.
Fingers, elbows, hands and knees
and arms and legs and feet –
he eats them with delight and ease,
for every part’s a treat.
And when the gruesome, grisly ghoul
has nothing left to chew,
he hurries to another school
and waits… perhaps for you…

Autumn’s Mother Heart

And there Autumn met me
with the loveliest of winds;
but a heart blown asunder
as her leaves would fall again.

She mourned like a mother
who may lose her only child.
So I looked past grand color,
to see grief in her raw wild.

The moon rose like a wizened soul,
as I swam into Autumn’s stream,
a whirlwind of warm memories
and soon-stolen wishes and dreams.

I spoke kind words that did little
to ease her deep growing beast.
She even trembled with vestiges
of leaf prints near her knees.

And so, I did the only thing
a human could truly do.
I bowed with grace before her,
and kept vigil through and through.

With bravery, Autumn finally let go . . .
as our tears shook and echoed
into winter’s bleary woe.

Time moved on as it has the want and will,
past winter, spring, and summer still;
and again, I greeted Autumn.

She smiled when she saw me,
and bowed to me with grace;
the human that saw fit to stay
in grief’s lonely darkened space.

I walked closer to divine Autumn,
the wisest mother of them all,
to notice lines and creases softer,
at peace with her destined fall.

Once more, sweet leaves moved from her
and, yes, she blustered and cried.
But, in the end, she whispered to me,
Love branches immortal, never to die.
