The Engine Room – Part I

The Engine Room is open now for about a week and it has so many AMAZING designs and creations that I wasn’t able to put them in one picture, so be prepared for so more steampunk madness in the next days!

My first post is kinda centered around that super cool top from [ContraptioN] and the awesome cute Barn owls in the steampunk version from {-Maru Kado-}. There is 2 packs of owls and each all owls come in 2 different version – one ‘casual’ owl and one ‘steampunk’ owl with all the sweet gear and goggles. But when I was setting up my little scenery inside the amazing skyebox from Catacomb –  while I realized those amazing rich and detailed textures – I found so much more cute and superb made things that I really had to hold myself back from cluttering my picture with too much things! The super cute animesh cat from HEXtraordinary in a rezzable and a wearable version, the incredible textured furniture from 22769… if you are a steampunk fan or someone that loves some Victorian gear and vibes, you HAVE to take a look at the Engine Room – you have time until the 20th or October!

But the Engine Room not only has furniture, decor and animals, you can find some totally crazy clothing and accessories. Today I combined the “Enginieer’s Top” from [ContraptioN] and the “Knickerbocker” pants, socks and shoes from Hotdog. The cool “Plague Mask” was made by Static. I was trying a lot what I could wear as a head piece of hair with that mask and in the end i decided not to just put a hat on top, but wear the unisex, short “No.Shallow” hairstyle, which no.match released at MoM this month.

I do not want to write too much today, as the pictures should be the main focus for this mega awesome designs and creations and… I have to admit, I already work on my second part pictures and realized I will probably even have to have a 3rd Engine Room part *giggles*

Sometimes it needs a kind person and some amazing conversations to be inspired for a certain picture. This happened today when I was thinking about doing a post about some awesome releases of the Fetish Fair that is currently running for a few more days. It is always difficult to do fetish or BDSM related pictures if you don’t want to be dirty or pornographic but ther is even editorial fashion shoots in the real world that are none of that. For my post I did not want the editorial ones only, I wanted some kind of emotion to it as well and that is, why I did not just use a blank background with simplistic furniture only. D/s is something very sensitive. It is part of the whole BDSM content but it is only one of a million different shades. But many people do have D/s relation ships without even being aware of. D/s itself can have a million different shades as well. Sometime girls like the fact that they are taken care of in life and that they only need to please (please ISN’T always only sexual!) a man, to be his precious he would take care of. Some girls do like older men, because they feel more safe with them and they like if they say how it goes (NOT only in a sexual way). That brings me to my next point… D/s doesn’t always have to be a sexual thing. Making a coffee for the man you belong to, because he asked for it… we could argue now if he did order you to get him one or if he just asked to have one… when you bring him that without starting a discussion or telling him off to get it on his own… you obey… you obey to a wish made by the person you love. So D/s is way more common as that we think about. Same if your partner tells you, he would like you to dress in a certain way… you can say, it is because you just love him and do it, because you know you please him with having him the gift of you wearing the particular outfit. But on the same hand you can sa it was an order you did obey to out of various reasons and motivations. D/s doesn’t mean anything else than, someone that gives orders (wishes, requests, begging… call it what ever you want) and someone that is willing to full fill them, either for a certain result or just because out of love, dedication or devotion. Where I live, we are lucky that we can be free in our choices that we make about our relation ships – I know this is not the case all over the world. And so all can decide how they want to have their relationships without being pointed with a finger at someone. Did you ever think about why in Second Life BDSM or D/s is so big? Because not everyone has the possibility to live their fantasies! Even if I made horrible experiences in Second Life with that kind of roleplay and gave up years ago in SL, because of wannabes and people who think they know it all only because they read the Story of O or saw 50 Shades of Grey on TV, it seems there is attraction in that kind of lifestyle for many and why not just let them do what ever they want as long as they to not violate any law or feelings of others who are not want to be involved? I have to admit I met a few people, that are living this lifestyle in the real world too and I had incredible amazing conversations about so many different things with them – I would not want to miss them. Most of those people are incredible skilled artists in one or both lifes and the lifestyle must have something that touches those sensitive and very special people.

Since my post tunred out totally different as intended and the shoes didn’t get the deserved spotlight on the pictures, I just thought I do a clean close up!

Recently I had the pleasure to talk more to someone, that I did know for a while and when we met, none of us did talk about BDSM or D/s or something like that. We just were assigned to do a print-work job together. It was a fashion job so far away from all of that. But when I arrived there, the way of how that person was talking already got me to my toes. I can not say why, but the way he used the English language wasn’t what I usually experienced. I mean, I did know his Flickr as I always look though peoples Flickr when I am assigned to work with them, but you find all kind of artists on that platform so I normally do not jump to conclusions if I do not know those people. The way he spoke, the use of words I never heard before for just normal conversations, did build some feelings or emotions that I could not sort the first time we met. It was a great shooting and the pictures turned out fantastic. It wasn’t the only time I had the pleasure to work with that person and I do not even remember anymore when or why I started to call him Sir, just in a normal conversation. I remember quite well, how bad I was blushing in real life, when I realized what I just said, but it just felt normal and right. He did not seem irritated by that and since it felt right, it was just normal for me to call him Sir whenever we worked together. A couple times we even just made pictures together, without any particular job behind it and they are some of the best pictures I ever had together with someone. Not too long go we got to talk more in IMs here and there and I had the pleasure to know him more each time we talked. It feels amazing if you can talk with someone in a natural way without ulterior motives, just because you are friends and respect someone. There are no words to describe our conversations, but I feel very honored to be allowed to have them. They unleash creativity, they reduce anxieties about some things, they even are an enrichment for my English skills, as I learn new words and different ways to say things. After all it feels incredible amazing to have someone, that does understand you, the way how you behave, or who you are. I have to admit, I guess I can be happy that he is so far away as I have no idea, if I could stand those eyes and voice, if I would be near him, but since I am happy in my own relationship (Yes – my partner knows about our conversations // NO – that isn’t anywhere near cheating) and far away, I just immensely enjoy those conversations and projects and hope there will be many more. Thank you Sir, for inspiring me for todays post and pictures!

I do love the song above and it is basically a song that has a lot of meaning to me and Red and it was just perfect for this pictures and post. In general it is not always easy if you have to hide parts of your life even to close friends just because the ‘society’ doesn’t really appreciate or understand them. I am not only talking about BDSM or D/s, but as well as things like a male loves a male, or a female loves a female, or if you have a job that other won’t understand whatever it would be. As well as if kids do not have any label clothing because they do not have a rich family, but do not want anyone to know about that when they go to school or meet other kids. There is many things that people have to hide in all kind of ways to make it through their life. The older I get the less I do want to hide things. They are a part of me and they do make me to what I am now. Even for being a musician, I often had to say I am teaching music or I do work somewhere else and just do music in my free time or on weekends. Over 20 years ago when I started my music career, music wasn’t something that was considered as a job and I often heard “And when you will learn something proper to pay your bills?”. Sure it wasn’t the life of a millionaire, especially in the beginning I had to do a lot of side jobs to make sure my bills got pair and it wasn’t only fun all the time. The longer I followed my personal decision, the better it became and in the end I was able to prove them all wrong and made my life out of music completely and it feels awesome.

Why other people or the so called ‘society’ do think they are allowed to tell one person, what to do and what not to do as long as they do not violate the law? Since when law should be able to dictate who you love, or even worse what gender you love? Just because certain religions and a lot of old fashioned people think that would be right? At school we teach all of our kids, the gifted ones and the non gifted ones that they can do what ever they can imagine in their life and be happy with that… and with that we lie to them already, as so many factors will force them to just do something that is accepted by our ‘society’ somehow. I am not anymore a rebel that only fights against exactly that ‘society’ and tries to break free like people in the 70s already tried – I am too old for that and I am way more critical about certain things these days, even if sometimes my punk breaks free and needs its room as well from time to time 😉

Even in SL when I started modeling, people tried to tell me what I should do and what I should not do and that made me even more angry than in real life. Again, I am always talking about things that do not hurt other people or violate the TOS and the law, I am talking about things like “You can not wear shaved hair and piercings while you are in a gown” or “You can not jump between style categories, hair colors or  wear wings, elf ears and hooves to a casual spring dress!” or “If you blog for this store you should not blog for that store as they do not really like each other!” – WTF!!! This is SL! I can do what ever I please especially on my blog, my pictures or my wardrobe! No one pays me a monthly salary and can dictate my Second Life for that! I can make decisions and like in real life I have to be able to stand behind them even if I can not be everyones darling then, which NEVER works in both lifes anyways on a long term if you do not want to lose yourself. You have value, your life and opinions do have value… in our modern times there is no room for hate about religions, races, nations, other opinions and new inventions or fictions. Our past should have taught us, that we need free spirits to evolve and that hate never brought out any productive. Sometimes we need to know a person before we can judge about them and even if we do we should never try to limit or tell them what they should not do – we should encourage them to tell us about their ideas and ideologies and even if we decide that they are feeling right for us they feel right for them and need to be heard. I do not know, if that makes any sense and I am well aware of that a nation needs rules, traditions and laws to work, but all of that doesn’t give anyone the right to destroy others lifes, or make it miserable, as long as they are not guilty of a heavy crime. I am sick and tired of hearing what would be the best of me, when I can feel that this comments are just made out of jealousy, vindictiveness and power games. I did survive – RL and SL –  with going my way. I did not hurt too many people in my life and those I did hurt, if I realized it I at least had the decency to apologize and see if I could make up for what I did wrong – but you only can do that if you have friends that have the strength and grace to tell you and not just go away and talk bad behind your back. I am grateful, for all of those that stuck to me through both lifes even if I had my moments and arguments with them. They helped me to become what I am now – even if I am still no millionaire, I found luck and satisfaction in my life and as well my place in my life. There are still days, where other people try to shake and rattle my pillars and the principle, sometimes it even still hurts, but they do have a way more difficult task to do as they had to in my past. I am not saying I know everything, or I am done learning in my life… that probably never stops and I am always open minded to what ever crosses my paths, but it isn’t anymore that easy to turn my life upside down and make me question everything I experienced and learned in my life.

Just imagine, what would feel more nice if you meet a new person in your life… to look a them, judge them about their first view and words or just smile, be friendly and see what they to have to say on a second view? They might have solutions for things you did not yet found some… they might have to hide things on your first meeting as they are scared you will judge them and turn around leaving them without even really knowing them, or have given them a chance to show you who they really are? And… just turn it the other way round… how you would feel if you are judged by your cover and not even given a chance to show who you really are?

I would like to close todays post with a quote from an En Vogue song, as I really believe in that every day more, the older I get:

Steampunk always had something that pulled me closer… I do not know what exactly it is, but maybe it has to do with today’s title. It always had something active to me… something that develops forward never staying still somehow. Maybe that is part of the attraction it has to me 🙂 The Victorian epoch, was a time of inventions, so no wonder that the steampunk era was put into that time frame somehow. But what exactly is steampunk? Lets see what Wikipedia has to say 😉

“Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Although its literary origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre, steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century British Victorian era or the American “Wild West”, in a future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. However, steampunk and neo-Victorian are different in that the neo-Victorian movement does not extrapolate on technology while technology is a key aspect of steampunk.

Steampunk most recognizably features anachronistic technologies or retro-futuristic inventions as people in the 19th century might have envisioned them, and is likewise rooted in the era’s perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. So steampunk is nothing that really existed back then, but was invented by the desire of the thoughts what time back then could have been with its future thoughts… yeah sounds crazy, but it does make sense if you get deeper into it 😉

Maybe it is as well the colors that are assigned to that kind of styles. I love the combination of muted, dark colors and the gold and copper metals. It just falls together so well most of the time and you always get a lightly elegant touch even if you do not wear a long gown :p Maybe it is the feeling of strength, that all the gear and leather gives most of the outfits and the huge buildings, vehicles and structures you can find if you look up steampunk in SL or google about steampunk in RL.

Whatever it is, steampunk does have a huge fascination for me and I do enjoy those styles and looks a lot, so that won’t be the last time I am styling up like a Victorian steampunk or a dieselpunk ‘Conqueror’ to discover new and unexplored space and maybe get more information about the mystery of the time machines 😉

Today I was in a little bit of a fetish mood and wanted to play a little bit *grins*

The “Aida” head from LeLutka, had such cute, but as well smart touch for me, that I came across the idea of a girl waiting for her Master coming home. I read many novels and books about BDSM and submission. Many of them had the situation in them, about a girl being at home waiting for her Master’s return (from work or what ever). Even in the Fifty Shades of Grey fairytale, he wants her to wait kneeling at the door of the playroom when he enters. That kind of situation I had in mind when I was taking todays pictures.

I did not want to do a mainstream nude or lingerie picture and when I found the “Leonie” dress from amias, I could not resist to use that one and pimp it a little bit with the “Collar of O” And the “Dandy Harness” from Salt & Pepper.

Today I would love to talk a little bit about shapes. I had a talk with a dear friend lately and she creates shapes. During my modeling times, I have to admit I never was wearing pre-made shapes.  I learned in several model schools, that the shape/face is the models trademark and somehow that is true. I come from a time in SL where we not even yet dreamed of sculpts or mesh or other body parts than the system body Second Life gave us. So we had to learn how to make our own unique shape and be able to change and twist it if needed for clothing, skins or accessories. When the first generation of sculpted body parts came out or even more when the first generation of bento heads came out – the static ones – it was quite a problem as all of a sudden we could not anymore work on our faces more than having different skins to make them look at least a bit different from others that bought the same head. When the next generation of the bento heads came out we all were kinda relieved as we now had at least a little bot of our freedom back to customize our facial shape again a little more due new bones.

While I always made my shapes myself as a model, I learned how handy pre-made shapes can be when I have to to vendors and teasers for the store or if I am showcasing different heads. If you go out and ask people about their shapes, most will snort and tell you, they won’t be up for sale as they made them their own. If you ask others where they bought their shapes they will tell you what kind of a loss of money it would be, as you can make your own shape. But maybe sometimes you do not feel to sit down and make your own shape? Or you tried and they end up looking always the same and you want to look different? Or they do not feel comfortable with what they did because they do have trouble with finding the right proportions? There is various reasons why people try ready made shapes and there is nothing wrong with it. Most of the shapes I know are even modifiable and you can use them as a base to create your own, having a rough idea for the basic numbers of a direction you like.

So, today I am wearing one of WrenNoir Cerise’s shapes. The “Alba” shape from {wren”s nest} was made for the “Aida” head from LeLutka. Most of the shapes nowadays are based on one specific heads, as you can really get funny looks if you do the wrong thing to a shape for a certain head. I sometimes tried for fun to wear shapes made for LeLutka on LAQ heads what really looks incredible funny. Wren usually has more than one shape in her packs – she provides for example a ‘proportional’ one, a ‘slightly curvy’ and a ‘tall & slender’ and if you get lucky sometimes even a ‘BONUS Candy Size’ which is a little smaller and I do love exactly those 🙂 With the “Alba” shape I was lucky, there was a ‘candy size’ one in there. As well you will find different eyebrow shapes in the pack and as well a style-card. The style card might be useful, if you would like to copy the exact look of the vendor picture, because even skins do matter and not every skin will make the shape and/or the head look the same. For this post I did not work on the shape at all, so what you see is exact the one I pulled from the pack, but as I mentioned before, you can modify them!

Next time you get asked, where you have your shape from or if you would know a place where good shapes are sold… don’t drag them down by only saying they should make their own… give them a chance to learn from ready made shapes or just being lazy and still look good 😉

Red Trench…

I do not know why, but when I tried on the “Roxy” gacha set, I instantly had a Dick Tracy feeling *giggles* Probably it was the cool trench coat of the set 😉

The “Roxy” gacha set is an awesome collaboration between [Gos] and Lybra. While Lybra made the lingerie and the trench coat, [Gos] contributed the cool boots. The lingerie fits amazingly under the trench and for a cool RP, I can see a complete use for that *giggles* I guess I will have to showcase the lingerie some when as well, but for today I just wear it underneath the trench coat and it just pokes out here and there when my pixels move 😉

The super cute hair was my by no.match one of my personal favorite hair stores. The huge wavy hair matched perfect to my little “Dick Tracy” mood. It originally was made for the COSMOPOLITAN event but it should be at the main store by now.

Now you will wonder, why Wicca looks so ‘young today’… that has a special reason 😉

As I stated before I feel so honored to be chosen as a LeLutka blogger and I certainly want to showcase all of their amazing work.  Today I am wearing the “Vera” head. Usually I try to look like a middle aged woman between 30 and 40 with my avatar, but the Vera head had such a cute vibe for me, I could not resist to get a young skin for it too. It is incredible how you can change the look of each LeLutka head with different skins and shapes. I did not have that for other bento mesh heads that much, that is probably the reason why I am so addicted about LeLutka heads *snickers* Plus the fact that they are so versatile, they do have an amazing HUD and I never ever had trouble with controlling my head completely. I know that many do have issues with HUD s from other heads, as they are either so many different HUDs, or one way too huge that isn’t that lag resistant. I enjoy the HUDs for the LeLutka heads a lot. They are clearly structured, have several tabs, that let you customize the heads with textures and animations and you even can do backup safeties for your heads if you get updates or if something goes wrong. You do do not have to set up your head from scratch you just can use your back up to restore your settings and safed makeups/skins on a fresh copy. LeLutka update their heads on a regular base with all new features like baked mesh and they are fixing minor issues, which I rarely notice before they get fixed 😉 I soon have to make a post about the great add-ons too. Did you know that LeLutka made several candies that cooperate with their mesh heads? I love chewing their bubble gum inworld on my avatar – but that will be another post soon!

Ok, to be fair – The pictures for this post were inspired a lot by “True Blood”. True Blood is an American dark fantasy horror television series produced and created by Alan Ball and based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries”, a series of novels by Charlaine Harris.

I watched it alredy in the past but I always missed the 7th season and now I finally found it on sky – Hooray \o/!!! Maybe that is, why I was going for an After Dark feeling 😉

So, while I was watching on my second screen I styled up the amazing “Bianca” harness, made by Salt & Pepper. It originally was released for the Fetish Fair this year, but I am sure you will find it at the main store by now. That harness really hides nothing *grins* and shoes off all of your beauty to the one you like to play with *winks* – Red totally liked it, too! With the HUD you get 8 different leather and 5 different metal colors to play with. Certainly  went with black as it is my personal favorite color anyways. So even if I try sometimes to not use the black options, I can’t do anything against it, if it nevertheless happens 😉

Mostly I avoid showing my private parts to the public, but I did not want to cover the outfit with another piece of clothing. So when I saw the “No.Help” hairstyle from no.match, it was the perfect solution to my little personal problem. The hair covers the needed bits and still shows the awesome harness – mission achieved!

I was wearing boots for the shoot, but since they are mostly cut off I did do a closeup only for them. The “Kate Thigh High Boots”- made by [Gos] – are so super awesome, that they deserved a special spotlight still 😉 They really go up very high and I do LOVE that height for all short bodysuit or harness outfits. I personally see more sexiness in covered legs than just having them blank. That can be over-knee boots, stockings, socks or tights – anyways what I prefer it over having bare legs, except for swim-wear. The boots are made for all the popular mesh bodies (Maitreya, Slink & Belleza) and you get a lot of color options with 3 different HUD packs and you as well have the choice, if you would like a thin or a thick heel style with each of the HUDs (like you can see on the picture below) I only captured 5 different colors but you will have a total of 21 different colors to chose from.

As I mentioned in a post before, I was selected to be a LeLutka blogger and so you will have always a closeup for each post from now on. I am a LeLutka addicted anyways and I did not wear any other heads on my blog since the LeLutka bento heads came out. My main head I am wearing for my SL Wicca” character is the “Simone” bento head from LeLutka. That is the head I know best for now as I am working with it for a while with shapes and skins, but I will learn to work others as well – I already started practicing *grins* But I want to show as well how versatile one head can be with different shapes and skins too and so here is my close up for today – “Simone” in all her beauty with my main skin from “The Skinnery” and face mods from Izzies for freckles, pores, wrinkles and blemishes!

Jackie Skellington – A Tribute to Tim Burton

I’ve always been addicted to Tim Burton movies. Anyways if it was Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow or Sweeney Todd I do love them all and I saw them and all the others more than once! But I do love the most the “A Nightmare before Christmas” and the “Corpse Bride”. When I saw “A Nightmare before Christmas” the first time I instantly fell in love with Jack Skellington. I even had merchandising stuffs for my study equipment, bed linen and other stuffs in my room like poster and such. I do not why that clicked so bad but it did 😉 So I was so surprised when I was at CURELESS [+] and saw the Christmas Nightmare gacha – How I could miss that one?!? Certainly I had to have that no need to mention I never saw a more cool version for a female counter part of Jack Skellington.

It is hard to explain sometimes that you are not in a bad or dangerous mood if you do dark pictures. I know it might be more common to do colorful country side pictures in SL, but I discover more and more that SL has a dark, artistic fashion corner as well and the more I try the more I really do love it. When I was trained as a model or blogger in the past, people did not approve my styles or pictures to much – not because they were bad quality, more because they were not norm or mainstream conform. Back in the days when I started it was important to have at least more than 50% mainstream and RL fashion trends covered somehow, but the longer I was blogging the more I developed a feeling away from deadline duties and so called “rules” to follow. I wanted more freedom to express myself, to experiment with more than just fashion and I was sick and tired of all the same pictures over and over, without soul but only fashion information stuffed.

So I asked to be released off my blogger duties years ago and left blogger or sponsor groups, to have a fresh start and re-invent myself and my blogging/photography. For quite a while I did pictures without any sponsored designs and not for the purpose of design showcase only. I have to admit at that time it was needed to develop my picture skills and as well my blogging abilities. I thought a lot about what I felt and what I want to express, which I never did that intensive before. Before it was all about how many sponsors I can combine without looking like a clown, but still satisfy as many people and designers as I can with every post I did. It wasn’t bad all the time, but it is a different motivation and focus. Over the past 10 years of blogging, there was times where my pictures changed lightly, but most of the time they were sponsor focused only. After some time you feel a kinda burn out syndrome and past fun turns into work only.. and that killed my motivation at some point. I needed “fresh thoughts” if that makes sense. Pulling back was the right thing for me to do. For the past 1,5 years I started again to apply or take on sponsors/blogger duties, but not as many as I had before. I tried to not have just fashion pictures, I challenged myself to combine fashion with artsy touches and as well with feelings and emotions and sometimes even with a story behind the pictures. That as well made the decision easy, to not have one picture and a style card only, but to have a little picture series and sometimes a little story behind them, too.

I really got a whole new, different point of view about my blogging and the pictures. I still try to do showcases for designers and present their creations in the best light, but as well I try to bring my own twist and emotions – sometimes a little art as well – into the whole process 🙂 It brought back the fun for SL blogging and SL photography to me again and that I guess is all that matters… at least for me 😉
