Gemstones – THEMA Magazine – How to be an Obsidian?

I again had the great pleasure to be one of the contributors for the THEMA Magazine. Taylor Wassep, owner and founder of that amazing magazine, always looks for different artists to make pictures for specific themes.

This time her idea was, to have gemstones as the basic inspiration. We could choose from a list of gemstones and certainly I wanted to have something with black. After i talked to Taylor we came across the Obsidian gem stone. That was exactly what I like and so I started to style something according to my gemstone.

I already had an idea in mind for my set. According to that I needed to find something, that would let me sit and do some crazy poses without breaking the whole outfit.

So I started with the “Couture Leggings” from Maitreya. For the top I found an old corset from E-Clipse called “LaDominante”. That made a great base for some editorial pictures and poses.

To underline the Obsidian character, I wanted to bring in some lighter spots, since the gemstone itself as well has some lighter reflections.

So I took out the helm from the “Bellatrix” outfit  and as well the chest piece of the “Plaisance Deux” outfit, both from Zibska, and completed my look.

For the set… I wanted to have a jewelry box and the first idea was to make myself the gemstone of a ring in that box… it did not work out that way, so I tried to place myself beside the ring in the ringbox which I liked a lot more 😉

Wood Fantasies 1

Today I again have a special series of pictures again.

In the past I was not really thinking a lot when I made my pictures for my blog, I just had a certain feeling and tried to follow that. I go with my buts and kinda try to put them on a visual level.

Lately, I felt more and more requirements to my self when it comes to my pictures. It is like I would see it from a different point of view now. When John told me, my pictures would be art… I totally was surprised as I never saw it that way.

When the current round of the Windlight Gallery opened, I again was allowed to meet Bryn Oh, kinda THE idol of my Second Life when it comes to art. She was so nice and kind and had a few very nice words about my pics and as well gave me some advice. That so made my day, I cannot even tell. Do you know that feeling if you admire someone and then exactly those person tells you your work is not bad and as well gives you some advice and tricks? – Priceless!!!

I always loved the ides to kinda blend the model into the background. If the subject of a picture is more part of the whole picture, than standing alone in the front. Certainly, there is purposes for that as well like for pure fashion blogging.

When I put on the “Dryad” outfit from !gO!, I immediately saw a forrest/wood fantasy picture in my mind. This dress is nature and art by itself and so I just tried to go on with some pieces to enhance the look.

The hair is the wonderful “Genesis” hair from EMO-tions and the “Laerlorn” headpiece was made by Wicca’s Wardrobe.

When I styled the look I all of a sudden remembered, that way in the past a designer made a wooden skin overly for an outfit of the Claim the Fame contest. The tattoo was made by Vengeful Threads.

Fears, Anxieties & Nightmares…

I still cannot believe it… I was invited to an Art Gallery as an artist!

Not too long ago I was IMed by someone, that told me if I ever would have considered my pictures as art…

I was quite speechless, because until now I never thought about making art I just made pictures for my blog posts*giggles*

But now I would like to talk a little bit about the guy that found me 😉

John (Johannes1977), owner of the Windlight Gallery and the Windlight Magazine.

He and his partner, the lovely Emma Portilo, created that amazing place and Magazine that features new, aspiring artists as well as experienced and popular artists of Second Life.

To have such a place, is something very precious as you rarely will find something like that… giving young and new artists the same chance as already popular and well-known names.

When he asked me, if I ever thought about having an exhibition or show for my pictures, I nearly did faint…

I really could not believe, that an experienced and well-known artist would consider my pictures art and it took me some days to get familiar with that thought*giggles*…  you can ask him, how insecure and excited I was…

He was so nice and kind and encouraged me for quite some time, until I dared to agree to try it.

Now I had to think about making art… what did not make it easier*chuckles*

I thought back and forth what I could do and I guess, I kinda ‘over thought it’ as I did not find anything that I thought would be as good to be displayed. Then I just slapped myself and forced myself to not think too much and just do what I feel.

The idea was to have several different pictures for the gallery, but when i started making some pictures I more and more came across, that I wanted to tell a little story with my pictures.

I ended up with 2 different series, which were born out of 2 totally different visions.

The first one is the one I have on this post.

I called it “Chased…” as a work title. The idea behind was that in our lifes we are running from fears, nightmares and anxieties, just because it is something we do not know better.

So the steam punk looking fishes are kinda synonymous for all those things we run from.

Sometimes we even feel attacked or even bitten by those and try to defend us and survive or get rid of them at least for the moment.

But what, if we stop running and turn around facing them?

Maybe we can get them known better and all of a sudden they are not anymore formidable? It might not work for all of them but with some we maybe can make our peace after some time?

It might now work with all, but for many it can, at least for some it was like that for me. And in the end you might be able to go along with them like I did with swimming together with the fishes instead of always running from them 😉

New @ Machoire

Today I am very happy, tha I am able to showcase a very new designer on the grid. Machoire, a genius woman, who named her brand after herself or vice versa ;).

She creates original mesh and designs jewelry, hair and accessories in a very artistic way in a new and modern look and style.

Today I would like to showcase one of her great new necklaces called “Livay Nacklace”.

This huge necklace is an art piece and you do not need any busy outfit for it, tha is why I just put on a tight body suit to really let this wonderful design shine and not drag any attention from it.

You have a wonderful front, wich goes deep down to the belly and the back as well is wonderfully handcrafted and artistic shaped. As a little decoration in the front you have some sweet little gems added. The whole piece is texture change able with the huge HUD that comes with the necklace. You have the choice to change the metals and the gems to make sure you can make it match to all of your outfits and stylings.

Machoire… definitely a name to remember or put on your shopping list and I am very curious what she will bring out next! Avant Kette 04b

Dream of Summer with Petit Chat

Today I am very happy that I am allowed to showcase again one of Trinity Yazimoto’s little art pieces.

The “Dream of Summer” dress in pastel, is one of the summer releases of Petit Chat. The amazing red tones underline the darker end f the summer and its red tones symbolise for me, the beginning change of the season.

For the few last warm days of the summer this short mesh dress with the amazing and elegant looking neck collar are the perfect choice to enjoy the few last warm sun beams outside.

The wild and lightly messy hair gives the whole look a very smart and fresh look. The “Alex” hair from EMO-tions with the wild wisps in the front and the high ponytail in the back was perfect for the high neck collar of the “Dream of Summer” mesh dress.

I did not wanna wear too much jewelry as I am not a friend of over accessorizing anyways 😉 So I decided to just wear the “Cecilie” set from EMO-tions. This amazing and filigree set is just perfect for an everyday casual look. he set has a HUD, wich changes the gem and metal colors. For todays post I decided to go with copper metal and a red gem to match the “Dream of Summer” dress.
