Circus Mystic for Fashion for Life 2014

FFL PC 03

During the .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week S/S 2014 I met a very creative and wonderful person. Trinity Yazimoto, owner and super creative designer of Petite Chat (*PC*). I already blogged 2 of her creations for the :PENUMBRA: Fashion Week and now she is part of the Fashion for Life (FFL) with new creations. One of those new designs is the “Circus Dress”. Again this dress was made from a wonderful picture of herself. I talked to her for a few times now and I only can imagine how difficult it is to bring those amazing paintings on mesh prims. If you ever tried to texture a mesh item, you know how back it stretches, twists and destroys the actual texture. But if you take a closer look on Trinity’s creations you can see that every little thing is sharp and in line on the clothing as it was in the art work.

The “Circus Dress” inspired me to really go against the circus idea. A longer time ago I got a wonderful gift from Daphne Klossovsky, designer of [HANDwerk]. A super sweet and cute wooden horse that looks like as it was taken out of a carousel. The colors just went perfect with the “Circus Dress” and so I finally found something I can post that amazing carousel horse with 😉 .

The “Circus Dress” is materials enabled and so you can test all those super cool new windlights with that new feature as well and can see the full beauty of that dress and as well it adds a wonderful uniqueness to the dress.

The original artworks are displayed in Trinitys little art gallery called Petite Chat Gallery (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Haddath/26/106/67).

And to keep the eyes on Fashion for Life please as well take a look at the hair. The “Josy” hair style was made by Mirja Mills, owner and creator of EMO-tions.

“Josy” has a wonderful long and flexible high ponytail and in the front some wisps fall into your face. With all those amazing features and the fact that you can have this in all the well-known colors that EMO-tion offers, this hair is the perfect addition for your everyday hairstyles.

Please make your way over to the Fashion for Life sims and help with enlarging your wardrobe, hair and accessories. All those amazing designs were made for an amazing charity that raises money for those who need the help!

Last but not least I would like to share the music, wich underlined my inspiration for the pictures while I was working on them.

Circus

There’s only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain and the ones that observe
Well baby, I’m a put-on-a-show kind of girl
Don’t like the backseat, gotta be first

I’m a like the ringleader, I call the shots
(Call the shots)
I’m like a firecracker I make it hot
When I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins
Spotlight on me and I’m ready to break
I’m like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage
Better be ready, hope that you feel the same

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus ahhhhha

There’s only two types of guys out there
Ones that can hang with me and ones that are scared
So baby, I hope that you came prepared
I run a tight shift so beware

I’m a like the ringleader, I call the shots
(Call the shots)
I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot
When I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins
Spotlight on me and I’m ready to break
I’m like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage
Better be ready, hope that you feel the same

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

Let’s go

Let me see what you can do
I’m runnin’ this like-like-like a circus
Yeah, like a what? Like-like-like a circus

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
When I crack that whip, everybody gon’ trip just like a circus
Don’t stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do
Everybody let go, we can make a dancefloor just like a circus

DaneMarkz for the debra charity!

Charity001

Today I would like to focus on something very special. The top and the necklace for today’s post are something very important.

Both was made by Hannah Daviau, owner and designer of DaneMarkz (DMZ) and it is her contribution for the EB Charity Event.

The top is available in 6 wonderful colors and patterns with flowers and butterflies and all what you can imagine under the summer theme :). For todays post I chose the “Nanette” top in peachy green. The beautiful combination of colors and the amazing shape of the top are the right choice for the upcoming season. Together with the “Summerlovin'” necklace in green wich as well is a donation to the debra  (Dystrophic Epidermolyosis Bullosa Research of America) charity. AS well she made some shoes that will probably be part of another blog post ;).

Charity002

What is EB?

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) — The Worst Disease You’ve Never Heard Of.™

Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB, is a very rare genetic connective tissue disorder that affects 1 child out of every 20,000 births (that means about 200 children a year are born with EB).  EB is actually a group of disorders that share a prominent manifestation of extremely fragile skin that blisters and tears from friction or trauma. Internal organs and bodily systems can also be seriously affected by EB.  The list of secondary complications  can be long and may require multiple interventions from a range of medical specialists.  As of today, there is no cure or treatment.  Daily wound care, pain management and protective bandaging are the only options available.

The manifestations of EB, the symptoms the person suffers from, and the overall long term outcome on quality of life run the gamut from mild to devastatingly severe.  This is dependent on several factors including the type and subtype of EB and the inheritance pattern (autosomal dominant versus recessive).  There are many people who are diagnosed with milder forms of EB, which, while they can be extremely difficult and painful to live with, are not disfiguring or lethal.  In these forms of EB blistering of the skin may be limited to the hands and feet which may not result in any scarring or loss of function.  In more severe forms there is generalized blistering of the skin as well as injury to many internal organs and bodily systems.  These more severe forms of EB result in disfigurement, disability and early death, usually before the age of 30.  In fact, some forms of EB are lethal in the first few months of life.

EB is caused by mutations in the DNA code that make up genes.  Genes are responsible for making and expressing proteins.  EB can result from one genetic mutation in any one of the 18 genes that have been found to cause the disorder.  These mutations, or errors in the genetic code, may not allow the affected gene to produce a specific protein, or it may result in the incorrect formation of that protein.  Either way, the mutation does not enable the affected protein to work correctly thus resulting in extremely fragile skin, and other manifestations of EB like: anemia, cardiomyopathy, syndactyly (fusion of the fingers and toes), renal insufficiency, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), malnourishment, cancer, constipation, osteoporosis, muscular dystrophy and pyloric atresia.

There are four types of genetically inherited EB: Simplex, Dystrophic, Junctional and Kindler.  These four major types of EB differ phenotypically (what physical manifestations look like) and genotypically (the genetic makeup) as well as by the area of the skin where there is blistering, otherwise known as “the site of ultra-structural disruption or cleavage”.  There is also an autoimmune form of the disorder called, EB Acquisita .

Children with EB are known as Butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly.

There are about 30,000 people with EB in the United States.

EB affects both genders and every racial and ethnic background.

Through the eyes of a child

Sweet innocent child with your open eyes.
You’ve seen us for who we really are.
And I know that there’ll be tomorrow.
So that hope can have it’s glory day.
And I wish that this world would embrace you
from magic stars and mystery.
My open heart …

I know you, I’ve seen your face before
you brought me to this open door
afraid to walk through.
Please take my hand.

I know that there will be tomorrow.
So that hope can have it’s glory day?
And I wish that this world embrace you
from magic stars and mystery.
My open heart …

I see where we’ll go from here.
‘Cause love doesn’t break
with the right amount of care
in your hands is whom you’ve choosen to be.
Life is a freedom.
Now go out there and be free.

Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.
Why did we make it so hard, this life is so complicated
until we see it through the eyes of a child.

Fashion for K.I.D.S.  is a week-long charity event which will take place from April 14th to April 21st, 2014. that will help to feed the bodies and minds of young children. The two Miss Virtual World 2014 Candidates, Sienna Bellios and Shelby Matfield will collaborate in this effort , and raises funds for K.I.D.S., a children’s charity that aids in the development of children through nourishment and education (literacy). K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distress Situations) donates 97 percent of donations to the children and families they serve. The charity helps many kids in distress situations such as homelessness, low literacy rate, victims of domestic violence, children with serious illness, and military families. More information on this charity can be found at http://www.kidsdonations.org/about_wwa.htm.

During this event, a host of 18+ designers  willing to set up small vendors of their creations – with one creation donating 50% or more to the children’s charity. Since the charity is to aid children, the designers will have an array of bright colors to represent children, and just in time for spring! To cap off this event, we will host a grand fashion show on the BOSL sim, featuring the awesome women of Miss Virtual World 2014! It is our hope that through this colorful, spring fashion event, that we raise a substantial amount of lindens to give to K.I.D.S.

—————————————————————

Each day families all around the world struggle for food, clothing, and shelter. Each day a parent loses their job and with the loss of a job, usually the loss of their home follows. We work hard to make ends meet, rob Peter to pay Paul, struggle to care for our children but the truth is, the vast majority is just one pay check away from poverty. And while as adults we suffer, those who suffer the most are our children. (Sazzy Nirpaw, http://sazzynirpaw.wordpress.com/2014/04/12/through-a-childs-eyes/)

—————————————————————

I really was very happy when Sienna IMed me and asked me, if I would like to participate in that event. I worked or over 10 years in children home for abused and homeless kids and it really touched my heart, when Sienna asked me. All the memories came back, the eyes of the children looking at me, their little hands reaching out for something the would like to have, the sparkling in their eyes for candy if I brought some with me to work…

I was thinking a lot what I could make for such a charity, because I really wanted to have something that has the kids theme in it. The idea of the “Lolliopop Gown” was born. All kids love candy and the idea of a gown made of lollipops just seemed for me the right idea for such a charity 😉

The gown comes with the mesh corset, a mesh skirt, the huge lollipop back-fan, the ribbons and ruffles and some little parts like the hair decoration and the lollipop for the hand. I left all the prim parts modify, so that you can play with them and reattach or resize them to your likings.

I hope you all like the idea, my little candy dream because 100% proceeds of the “Lollipop Gown” will go to the K.I.D.S. charity.

Please help those who cannot help themselves!

STOP WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING!!!!!

Global seizures of illegal ivory suggest that some 25,000 to 50,000 elephants were slaughtered in 2011 alone to furnish demand in major markets around the world.

The message is simple: stop wildlife trafficking.

And to highlight it, the United States destroyed tons of elephant ivory it has seized over the years — and will pay out $1 million to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Hours before the destruction of the stockpile in Colorado Thursday, Secretary of State John Kerry announced the reward money to help dismantle elephant and rhino trafficking syndicates.
It’s the first time the United States has offered such a reward, he said.
The ivory was seized and maintained as evidence until court trials were completed. Once the cases were concluded, some of it was used for training law enforcement officers.
“Over the past 25 years, we have accumulated far more elephant ivory than we can use for these purposes, and decided to destroy this material as a demonstration of our commitment to combating wildlife trafficking,” the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said.
“We want to send a clear message that the United States will not tolerate ivory trafficking and the toll it is taking on elephant populations, particularly in Africa.”
The illegal ivory trade has doubled worldwide since 2007, with the United States the second-largest retail market for illegally acquired ivory. China is the largest market.

An unprecedented demand for ivory today has resulted in the slaughter of elephants throughout their range. It is estimated that 96 elephants were killed in Africa each day during 2012. That translates to four elephants an hour or one elephant every 15 minutes. In scarcely more time than it takes to read this commentary, one more elephant will be dead.

Fueling this devastation are greed for a rare commodity, local poverty and social disorder. Wracked by civil strife, central Africa presently finds itself amidst political chaos that has enabled people to profit from the looting of natural resources, including wildlife. At present rates of decline, forest elephants could go extinct within a decade.

Twenty three years ago, I began studying a population of forest elephants at the Dzanga Bai clearing in the southwest corner of the Central African Republic. Protection for this particular population was probably the best in the entire central Africa region, with regular guard patrols routinely confiscating arms and arresting poachers.
To get to the clearing one must walk a couple of kilometers from the local base camp along huge elephant trails stamped out over hundreds of years. After a half hour’s walk through the forest, the sky lightens as the trees give way to a great clearing. Upon emerging, you may see 40 to 100 elephants at any given time – part of an estimated regional population of roughly 75,000 animals.
Having no nationality, the elephants arrive from across the larger Sangha Tri-National Protected Area, some traveling hundreds of miles. They become very excited when they recognize family members they haven’t encountered for a long time. Elephants can be seen running across the clearing several hundred meters to greet each other in what are visibly emotional encounters.

In March of this year, the Central African Republic’s government was toppled with the help of heavily armed rebels calling themselves Seleka. Since then, Seleka has wreaked havoc with both local people and the nation’s wildlife. In early April, the rebels infiltrated the Dzanga Bai clearing, gunned down 26 elephants with automatic weapons, hacked out the animals’ tusks, then vanished.

– How many elephants are left on earth?

– Are elephants endangered species?

There are about 600 000 African elephants, and between 30 000 and 50 000 Asian elephants. (Approximately 20% are in captivity) It´s difficult to estimate their numbers exactly. The Africans dropped by 50%, from 1.3 millions to 600 000, between 1979 and 1989, because of poaching. About 8 elephants an hour (70 000/year) were poached during this period, until the CITES Ivory ban 1989.

The CITES ((Washington)Convention of International Trade In Endangered Species) regard both species as so threatened, so they are included an appendix 1. (the red list) In the Cites conference 1997, populations in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia were downlisted to appendix II.  This means that limited trade with ivory on quota, to Japan is ok.

If a population is undisturbed, it grows with only 6% a year according to the IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature) elephant specialist group.

Natzuka for the Typhoon Fundraiser

Natzuka 001

Today I am very happy to showcase the amazing designs of Natzuka Miliandrovic, that she contributed for the Typhoon Haiyan Fundraiser.

As you know, in the past few days we have seen a very devastating news where Typhoon Haiyan hit Philippines. Typhoon Haiyan is known as the strongest storm that ever happened and it has been reported to cause more than 10,000 death and more than 9 millions people are affected. At the moment, there’s no electricity, no water and no food. And they need our help.

For this reason the Typhoon Hayan Fundraiser Team lead by Jammeh Resident and sponsored by Zenshi started to organize different activities in Secondlife™ and will send the 100% of the money raised to help the victims of this tragedy.

You can find more information about this charity at the following links:
Website: typhoonhaiyansl.tumblr.com/
Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/typhoonhaiyansl/

Natzuka made 2 wonderful dresses. In pink and teal, the “Jamee” dress is a wonderful addition for every fashionista’s wardrobe. The top is ornamented with amazing little butterflies in white on a black ground and a sweet zipper on the left side up to the shoulder, gives the amazing little extra. With the “Jamee” dress you are looking super sexy and even more important in that case, you help when you buy at least one of them… and better both ;). All the money that gets raised with the “Jamee” dresses goes to the Haiyan Typhoon Fundraiser.

Look great and help – They need you now!

Love for Donna Flora – GizzA for Squinternet Larnia

For the first picture, the credits go out to Falbala Fairey. She asked if I would have blogged the “Yeriak” gown already, the one Giz Seorn, owner and designer of GizzA, made for he Love for Donna Flora event. She wanted to do a special picture together with another new release from GizzA, in a way of good versus evil. As usual I get asked to do the evil part I was wondering, why she asked me for the “Yeriak” gown…  as I arrived I saw Falli in the new “Thorn Dress” and I did understand… Today she gets to be the evil and me the good one! I would like to thank Falli for that amazing picture. She even did some wonderful closeups, that you can see together with her stylecard on her blog (http://falbalafaireyfashionblog.wordpress.com/2013/08/01/in-darkness-shines-the-light/)

Gizza - Yeriak for Donna Flora 001.

Let’s take a closer look on the “Yeriak” dress. The amazing corset shows, how much love for the detail Giz puts into her designs. The filigree and delicate lace that covers the waist and the wonderful opaque colored texture, that is placed on the chest make a perfect combination for this playful, vintage touched outfit. The gloves bring back the theme of the corset and the huge headpiece with the awesome sheer and flexible parts that are repeated in the skirt as well. The huge flowers that decorate the waist and as well the hat add a huge ‘eye catcher factor’ and together with the stockings and the garters it makes a perfect vintage touched outfit. The whole ensemble is a perfect contribution to the Love for Donna Flora event as it kinda is a tribute as well to Squinternet Larnia, the queen of the vintage look 😉

Solidea - Hope for Donna Flora half

Mila Tatham, owner and designer of SoliDea FoliEs, contributed 2 amazing creations. One of them is the “Dotty” dress. A wonderful short white dress with huge black spots. The delicate laced top, together with the amazing collar and writs parts call for a cute, nice and all sweet styling usually. So I wanted to give it some twist and as I showed it to Malicia, all she had to say was like “…you look like a crazy, freaky stewardess”.. thank you Mal.. so much to that :p .

I added one of the amazing hats of Donna Flora called “Blackpool” and some hair from Amacchi that they gave away at the hair fair as a gift 😉

Solidea - Hope for Donna Flora shoes

The shoes I used for this post, are one of the amazing creations that Energie showcases on the actual Shoe Fair 2013. The “Flirtiny” heels really caught my attention as they were something new to me. First of all I saw they come with 2 different HUDS. One for socks and skin options and one for the nails and all the amazing spikes. What was special to me, was the idea of not having regula stockings that do not show the toes. I liked how the stockings have open spots at the feet and with the HUD you can choose from different ornaments for the stockings, different colors of the stockings and even a ripped option. All the different stockings that you can choose for the feet , are delivered as well in a special stocking bag, wich comes with the shoes. The extreme high heels can be decorated with 3 different colors via the HUD – Gold, Silver nd black. If you wanna see more of the amazing ne creations of Energie hurry to the Shoe Fair 2013 and see what  else they have new!

Brave Woman – A Tribute to Donna Flora

Love for Donna Flora full

Some brave women, not the famous ones, fought for the right to vote early in the last century, they were called Suffragettes in a pejorative manner. They went on hunger strikes, were forcibly fed, went into passive resistance and took other measures to claim that women are equal. After almost 20 years of fighting, the right to vote was finally granted in 1919 (USA) and 1920 (UK). Being a political decision, it had a strong impact on the women’s lives and their appearance. Long hair was cut, and skirts shortened, the corsets went. Around then Coco Chanel invented the little black dress offering an unknown freedom of movement tot he wearer. She was right when she said, this dress would be “a sort of uniform for all women of taste.“ Today we think of Flappers, thinking back tot he glorious 20s, who would not have been without some brave women fighting for their rights.

But there are other ways to be brave, face an illness, be there for others, raise children, solidarize and to speak up when needed, to name a few.

When talking about the Love Donna Event (http://lovedonnaflora.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/so-cancer-happened/), Mal and I decided to pay our tribute, too. I guess you will get why we picked the 20’s theme.

As Mal was too late fort he Love Donna Flora event, she will donate all her Flapper skins you buy in the main shop. Click here for more details https://wiccamerlin.de/silken-moon-flapper-line/

Or help by visiting the Love Donna Event and enjoy what the awesome designers of SL donated to pay their tribute. The Love for Donna Flora Event will take place from the 25th of July until August the 11th. For a Limo please click HERE (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Brookridge/135/127/31)

Our hearts go out to Sqinternet, the person behind Donna Flora, please send your hearts, too.

Today I have some wonderful news from the Hairfair 2013 again, together with one of the latest releases of SoliDea FoliEs.

This post today is a perfect example for what happens if you are not quite sure what you wanna do*giggles*

I was fooling around with some clothing and just tried the “Blue” outfit from SoliDea FoliEs as  got the latest releases for the Hairfair from Miamai.

I tried all the wonderful new hair styles as I came across the “Latin Lover” style. A wonderful unisex ponytail with a hat. I was looking at myself for sometime not sure what I shall think, as all of a sudden  a picture of the portoguese Cavaleiros. Cavaleiros are male or female horseman or woman, kinda riders, out of the 18th century.  Maybe it was a female version of a spanish Matador even, I have no clue what made my mind fly off like that*grins* but I saw me sitting with my new made style on a horseback*siggles*

I am sure the “Blue” outfit was not made for this purpose, but it was just too tempting to give it a try. Usually you have a huge headpiece of petals as well for your head I just skipped that for the “Latino Lover” hairstyle from Miamai. I added some nipple pastsies and a necklace from DECO… and for sure the horse*grins* The “Blue” outfit is a pants outfit with awesome huuuge ruffles and a wonderful mesh corset. The petals give a wonderfil payful touch to the whole outfit.

And now the horror started.. find a horse and a sim.. after looking for 2 days I found both and had a lot of fun fooling around with the various possibilities of the horse in front of a beautiful background.  I wanted to give the pics an aged, used look. As I never did that before it was al ot of experimenting but I am happy about the outcome so far 😉

The Hairfair will be gone soon so make sure you go and buy for a good case, as many donations go to the Wigs for Kids charity!
