“Am I Beautiful Yet?”
I’ve blinded my eyes with ornament. Replaced my limbs with ornament. Cut out my organs for ornament. Am I beautiful yet? I can dance for you. Watch me. I will never stop dancing. Never stop watching. Never. Stop. Or else.

For the the theme of ‘Freak Show’, I’ve put together this circus ballerina. Her limbs are wrapped in gold with pink accents, as well as barbs, some tinted with blood. Ballet is known for being brutal in its precision, and this type of decoration carries the metaphor visually.

Her face is obscured by a mask of similar style. Floral designs, especially that of the thorny rose, are prominently featured here almost like a religious icon. It is perhaps one of the most eye catching pieces of the style, in part representing her inability to see the world for what it is. She is blinded by her preconception of what beauty is, and is unable to appreciate the world around her.

Finally to pull it all together, the most unsettling piece is her torso body mod. Many strive for an hourglass shape, but the tragic ballerina has assumed a literal hourglass, complete with animated sands. Yet another clever visual metaphor representing the years of life she’s shaved off by taking her pursuit of the beauty ideal to unhealthy lengths and destroying parts of herself in the process.

The entire style combines fragility, obsession, suffering, and horror into a form of visual storytelling, in order to tell a very tragic story.

As stated above, the look was made for a special show hosted by Madd Modelz on the amazing “Uri Jefferson’s Freakshow” sim (SURL). We all had to write our own descriptions for our styles and presentation and I had in mind what I wanted to say but since I am not a native English speaker, it mostly doesn’t sound as I want it to be. This time I had great help from a dear friend – Tour Blanche, the partner of my sweet sister Consuela Blanche. He is a god with words and made my idea sound so amazing, that I could not just have it for the show. I wanted them to be visible for longer than the few minutes of the show and he allowed me to post them here on my blog. Thank you for that Tour ♥

Destructive… Sometimes…

Today I am very happy to do my first post as an official CerberusXing blogger. I was dreaming of that for quite some time now and now it finally happened *dances around*. I love the creations and designs of CerberusXing for… I guess in forever. He has a very special way of creating his designs and his texture skills are incredible. I rarely saw a better leather than in CerberusXing’s designs. I love his sadistic, morbid take on and that he always dares to stretch the boundaries from modern dark fashion to a nearly haute macabre look sometimes. He isn’t afraid to even go for stronger morbid thoughts or sometimes for fun stuff when you do not expect it. I admire the variety of styles his creations can be used for, but with always having his very personal trademark on them – even with no label on it, you easily can recognize a CerberusXing design.

For my first post I decided to go with a mix and match of my favorite items from CerberusXing. The “Enochian Succuba” outfit including the boots and the choker, the “Mucronate Top” as well as the cool “War Fan” and the “Tritinium Clave Collar, which is a collaboration of CerberusXing and The White Crow. The collar, which right gets plunged into your skin and flesh comes with an amazing tattoo layer that supports exactly that and makes it look more realistic. The bar-code reminds me of some kind of registration of a slave on a certain website 😉

If you look at the picture below you can see another extraordinary creation of CerberusXing – the “Ostium Impaler Ears”. I am a huge friend of unusual mesh ears and with the long stretched ear hole and the piercings these ears have exactly that what it takes. You are able to color the bottom of the earlobe like a tattoo and that heavy earing shows you why it is stretched that way 😉

For a cool look you need the perfect makeup as well and so I wanted to use one of the newest tattoos from Nefekalum Tattoos. His tattoos are more like artwork on your skin. Sometimes you get the feeling, that he has a slightly destructive adder which he puts in some of his creations and the same I feel sometimes with CerberusXing. I  am not saying that this is a bad thing! I have this adder as well and I really enjoy it, to live that part of me in SL more than in RL – that really balances me out sometimes and keeps me more healthy in RL*giggles*

The Ark – Animalish Moments

Today I would like to highlight an interesting event, that I didn’t see like that before. It is called “The Ark” and it is hosted by Palegirl Productions. Today sadly is the last day, but RL kept me so busy, that I wasn’t able top post earlier.

You can find all kind of designs inspired by animals there, not limited to animals and decor itself *winks* I saw that dress – yes a dress – and even if I am not too much into dresses, the way it was designed caught my attention. I loved the way the cut-outs are done at the sides and especially the arms with the sleeves connected to the middle finger. I never saw such a design before.

If you know me, it was clear, that I could not do just a simple casual look with that dress, so I was thinking a long time what I could do with that. Suddenly I came across the “Fibrous” tattoo from Nefekalum Tattoos again and thought, that would be a great challenge to make an editorial look with that tattoo and the dress! Certainly Zibska had to be involved with that idea too and her “WildThang” leggings just perfectly matched the animal print the dress carried too 🙂

I know the look will probably disturb many that are used to a more casual use of dresses, but that is my personal take on for that dress – even if it really took some time to find the right surrounding for it for my pictures 😉

“Fragility”

Today I do have the great pleasure to showcase you the work of an artist, that I do admire already for a long time for his photography. I am talking about Sir Skye Nefekalum. His artwork is just breathtaking and his visions and creativity seem to have no end. Recently he started to create extraordinary tattoos and face paint and – as you can imagine –  I am already addicted. He releases them so fast – nearly one per day – that I have a hard time keeping up, as I do want to create images that maybe can satisfy his incredible style and artwork. I am not yet such a picture pro and I try to learn new things lately. That means it takes me even longer to really be satisfied with what I am trying to archieve, as I do not want to dissapoint Sir Skye for his amazing work.

Anyways, today I have the honor to show you two of the very first designs of Nefekalum Tattoos. The body tattoo is called “Fragility” and he face paint is named “Seer”. “Fragility” is a tintable tattoo (except for Maitreya, as their body doesn’t feature any coloring in the tattoo layers). It comes as an Omega applier, which allows you to use it with any Omega compatible body. I just tried it on my Belleza Freya body and it just works perfect. I tried many different colors and shades until my choice fell to blue. I always had an addiction to blue and white for what ever reason :p

The awesome “Seer” facial art as well comes as an Omega applier and you can play a little with the blending options until you have your perfect look. What I do love the most is that all of his tattoos – the ones I already got – work for male and female and gives the avatar a very special and extraordinary look. all of them do have a very crisp and clean look, which for me is a sign of high quality work. I do have many others that are slightly blurry or do have weird seams, but not the Nefekalum Tattoos.

While I was working on the pictures I had to do a teaser picture for an upcoming hunt gift and I could not resist to again use both of those amazing tattoos in a different color as it just worked so perfect with our gloves *blushes* But that shows how versatile the “Fragility” tattoo is with different colors. As you can see I have a different, more darker blending for the face paint on this picture, so you can see the different possibilities as well for the face art.

I am really curious with what Sir Skye will come up next, while I will try to prepare the next showcase of his amazing work!
