Time to relax… now!

Today my post might be different as most of my other ones. I had a year full or work and joy, a year of stress and the most fun I ever could imagine.

About a year ago, in May 2016, an idea was growing inside my head. After seeing a wonderful musical, done by kids and adults of an amateur dramatic society not too far from my home, an old dream of mine came up again.

I always wanted to do a musical with mainly kids from a school I am working at. Until that time I never had the right people around me, or I was not allowed to do such a huge project as it would interrupt and interfere the normal school schedule too much and so many other reasons, which I do not even remember.

But this time it should be different.

I spoke to a very close friend of mine, that as well works at the same school and with me. She was at that musical I was talking about before as well and when I joked about, if we could not pull off something like that as well, she only answered “Why not?”. I told her about my weakness of organizing things and my strength of creativity, music and passion for musicals. She is like a soul mate for me or even the sister I never had, so I was totally honest about my fears. She only did listen and did not say a word until I was done talking and I already was scared that she would tell me I am crazy – Which would be no news :p

I was staring at her to wait for her reaction. She looked at me and said “If you are taking the responsibility for everything that has to do with music and dance and all the sound engineering stuffs, I can help organizing stuffs, help with reversals and costumes and as well I can do all the calculation with you”. I must have stared at her with an open mouth and she started to joke about it and asked me, if I did really listen to what she said.

I was speechless as I never would have expected such an amazing reaction. So all that was left – before proposing the idea to our school principal – was to find a musical, that could be done by kids and teens but as well would attract teens and adults as audience. We have kids from the age of 10 up to 18, so it should be something that catches all of them, plus it had to be something with cool costumes and many possibilities of accessories and styles. It took me about 4 weeks to find something that was affordable, would allow changes by me and as well sounded cool enough for the kids.

I found a muscial version of Dracula twisted for kids and young adults with a lot of humor and still the basic Dracula story in it. It was called “Dracula – the ultimate Grusical”. When I told my friend about it, she was all up for it immediately and already saw certain costumes and styles behind her inner eyes. Now the most difficult part was coming up… I had to propose the idea to our boss. He is a passionate musician himself, but as well he leads a school and so I was not sure what he would say about our idea.

His first question was, if I would be sure about all the work and effort and I told him, that I was part of a school musical 3 times before myself and that I am not exactly sure how much work it would be, but that I would know it would not be easy and as well a lot of unpaid extra hours, but the same time, that it would be a life time dream of mine and that I am not scared by a huge work load.

He said he would not have anything against the idea but all the other teachers would have a say as well, as some rehearsals would maybe go through some usual school times. When I entered the teachers room a few days later, I had really wonky knees as those folks who usually work with me, now would have the decision about my dream. Their reactions were amazing and they all told me I would have full support and even had ideas how we could connect the musical project with regular lessons and classes like making accessories and all the stage buildings in arts and have some parts of the text to work in the German language lessons. I was totally overwhelmed and more than happy.

After some mailing work with the publishing house of the musical, I got the text, the music, the songs and everything that we needed – by then it was July 2016, shortly before the long summer holidays. The holidays gave me enough time to adjust text and music according to some requests of our principal and as well to the roles for the kids. When school started again in September 2016 I was done with all this and as well had made a first choice of who would play certain roles. Now I just needed to ask the kids if they would agree and as well I needed my friends help for some more role assignments.

To make along story short, some kids did not like the idea and bailed out even 2 month after we started rehearsing and each of them nearly gave me a breakdown and I saw the whole project die more than once, but we always found a solution andย  asked a few former pupils to take part as well. It was a very rough and exhausting year but I do not regret one second. It was a great time to know the kids way more than during a ‘norma’ school year and they all worked super hard. In May 2017, we got another shock 6 weeks before the premiere… Our Dr Van Helsing got a cruciate ligament rupture while playing beach volleyball and I again saw the whole project going down. But again there was an angel, who offered to help and a 16 years old guy stepped up and took over that major role.

14th of July 2017 – Premiere!

I have no idea how we made it and time seemed to fly in the last 3 weeks but we made it to rock the first show of 4 with a sold out house of 200 people in the audience. we are a small school and only have round about 120 kids and having a sold out premiere was more than I ever expected. The kids were super nervous, none of them had done such a huge project before. The musical is about 2 hours long and we added a little break of 30 min between the 1st and the 2nd act. 2,5 hours of high concentration, lots of text and singing. In the end we had about 70 kids involved with acting, speaking, singing on stage, a choir and the school band. All had costumes and makeups and we had amazing help from a few parents who helped with all that behind the scenes during the shows. During the break we had Dracula themed snacks, cakes, sweets and drinks, sold by the association, thatย supports all kind of our school activities.. it was so amazing really.

Now after the 4th and last show… I only can look back and I am so grateful for all the help and support we got. The kids grew on that project in an unbelievable way and already asked when we would do something like that again.

I probably do not have the power and strength to do something like this right again, but I did not say “Never” either ๐Ÿ˜‰ We will see what the future brings ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe now some of you do understand, why I was not blogging as much as I used to in the past months, or why I was not online that much in the past weeks… but that project really took a lot of me – not only time wise – but I do not regret even one second! But now it is time to RELAX – at least for a bit ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pink and Cute???

Me and pastel colors… usually not the best match :p

But for today… I have no clue why… I wasย  in exactly that mood ๐Ÿ˜‰

The cool background maybe was the initial fact that lead me towards the sweet colors. The amazing “Aloha” dress, which is available at the actual round of The Liaison Collaborative, supported that idea of a summer, sweet colors post with a light vintage touch :p

First I did not even plan on a vintage touch, but when I found the “Betty Babes Glasses” from Manik Queen, I could not resist to tweak my style towards a cute vintage one.. yes… I said.. CUTE!

The glasses have so many color options and as well are sold in 2 different styles. Blank, white dots and black dots – there is no style you cannot make them fit ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now I would like to take a closer look at my hands. The fantastic rings are made by MEVA. I saw many Maitreya bento fitted rings lately but rarely some that rea so cool and detailed and as well more casual looking, so you can wear them as everyday accessory. With all the curves and decorations they are really a little art piece and outstanding from all the ones I saw before.

The rings are not just mirrored for left and right hand you actually have 2 totally different designs for each hand. you can wear the rings single for each finger or you can just use the full set at once… all options are included in the pack. As if that would not be already enough.. you as well can decide, if you would like the rings in silver or gold ๐Ÿ™‚ MEVA released so many more amazing rings – I soon have to make a special about it but I so wanted to showcase the first set today ๐Ÿ˜‰

Speaking of MEVA… did you realize those cool piercings at my collarbone and my cleavage^^? Mea Carnell, owner and designer of MEVA, made those for the actual round of Cosmo. They are a wonderful little styling accessories, that just give the little extra-ordinary look ๐Ÿ˜‰

The wonderful nail polish again was made by Nailed It!, one of my favourite nail polish places. O loved the little opened zipper which gives the idea of very exclusive french nails ๐Ÿ˜‰

The amazing lipstick certainly comes from Zibska, while the absolute stunning eyeshadow was made by Slackgirl ๐Ÿ˜‰

And now I will use my short ‘cutsie’ time for a little bot of window shopping before the dark side again takes over *giggles*

“Burtonesque”

I sense there’s something in the wind, that feels like tragedy’s at hand.

And though I’d like to stand by him, can’t shake this feeling that we have.

The worst is just around the bend.

And does he notice my feelings for him?

And will he see how much he means to me?

I think it’s not to be.

[Sally, Nightmare before Christmas]

That I am a Tim Burton lover is not a secret. I love the movies and I as well love t he architecture and the clothing that is used in all of the movies. Anyways if Nightmare before Christmas, Corpse Bride or Beetlejuice ( and so many others certainly) – I am an addicted and saw them all more than once ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love the dark humor and the way how Tim Burton expresses things in his movies.

When I saw the “Elvina” outfit from .AiShA., I instantly had a ‘Buronesque’ idea in mind.

The striped leggings immediately pulled the “Burton” trigger in me :p

When I was looking for some furniture for my set, I just typed ‘Burton’ in my inventory search and had a lot of things coming up, that I already forgot that I have them!

I played around with the “Inspired by Burton” set from 22769 and completed the set with a bookshelf from Toiz and some parts of the “Burton Tea Party” from Cheeky Pea. I liked the shelf with the books falling out so much for the whole scene ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was really hard to choose from all the snaps I had – I had so much fun playing with the set and all of my Poseidon poses ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seductive Chic in a Spring Mood

Spring is coming! – At least it looked like yesterday even if the wind was horrible again today :p

To my todays feeling the “Plaisir” dress from [sys] just was the right match. The short dress with the high open, loosely collar and the seductive open back… perfect for the first few warm sun moments.

The huge cutout in the back really makes the “Plaisir” dress mega special. Only the thick brown leather strap hold the whole dress in place ๐Ÿ˜‰ And look how deep the cut out is… you really have to be careful with your moves… ๐Ÿ˜‰

I chose to wear some leggings under the dress and I know I had blogged those already before, but I really do love them a lot. The “Hisa Leather Leggings” from lassitude & ennui. I was so amazed when I put them on the first time, that appliers can look so realistic and actually do look like a mesh item while they are appliers ‘only’. All those shadows and lights , the folds and wrinkles, they are so realistic I really had to cam close to see that they are really flat on the body… incredible!

The super chic glasses are made by Glamistry and just were the perfect accessory for the look to give it an even more chic look. The “PU2003” sunglasses have a cat-eye feeling to them as well as a soft vintage touch, this kind of shape is my personal fave anyways ๐Ÿ˜‰ It does remind me of those 50s pin-up glasses a little bit.

I really enjoyed the sim a lot after I was doing my shoots. I never was at Anduril before, but I am sure I was not there the last time. they have so many different corners there and all are built with so much love to the detail, it was hard to choose one for the pictures already when I arrived there and looked around. Sometimes it is really worth it to jump through the search to find a new sim, or even look into the destination guide of SL, instead of just using the ones you already know very well. It can be time-consuming, but you can find some neat places out there.

I hope you could feel some of my spring feelings for that post ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOTD 08/24/2016 – Nautical Vintage Mood

Asteria Nautical 4

Nautical themed pin ups in a retro looking, vintage way always was something that I liked a lot.

When I unpacked the new “Michelle” outfit from Asteria, I immediately got the idea, to try something in that direction, even if the outfit looked modern and not very retro like on the first view.

Asteria Nautical 3

The outfit contains shorts, a small, sporty looking belly free top and the great knitted pullover over the shoulders. The shorts have a cute detail at the backside. One side is kinda ripped with a hole right at the butt, while the bottom seams of the shorts, as well look like used and just cut with all the small frills hanging down loosely.

Asteria Nautical 5

I tried to pull the whole outfit towards my retro idea and so I added some semi sheer tights from Izzie’s and the awesome over knee boots from [MODA]. With the stripes on the pullover and the stockings I already got the feeling of the whole look and wanted some of the amazing vintage looking sunglasses, which I found at Glamistry.

Asteria Nautical 1

Usually the 50s are known for colorful tattoos, but iI never was a huge friend of those and so I took one of the newest releases from my favourite tattoo designer Julie Hastings. The “Allied” tattoo from White~widow is available at the Fetish Fair 2016 in black, red and white.

Asteria Nautical 8

For the hair, I chose one of the newest EMO-tions hair called “Talon” the neat one-sided braid you will find at the actual round of Shiny Shabby. with the one side coming down in the front it did not interfere too much with the loose pullover sleeves over my shoulder ;).

Asteria Nautical 7

Now usually the most hardest part.. finding a location which was stuck in my imagination… I wanted a harbour, not too crowded but not totally empty. I prefer mesh nowadays since it reacts so much more nice on windlights and as well looks way more up to date than buildings from 2008 ๐Ÿ˜‰ I went to the destination guide of SL as they usually have nice locations there which are very photogenic. After some sim hopping I found the “West of the Rain” sim. When I landed, I immediately found myself standing at a harbour what seemed like coincidence ๐Ÿ™‚ I waited a few seconds to rez and when I looked around, I knew I was in the right place. The amazing ship right in the harbour, the other a little out and the wonderful little building caught my heart and I spent quite some times snapping way too many pics. Again I had a hard choice, to choose which ones should end up in the post. Every time I try to convince myself, that 2 to 3 pictures would be enough and still I end up with 5 to 8 *hides*

Vintage Fair – My little journey through past times…

Vintage Fair – I really do love vintage styles and fashion and this fair really went right into my heart. The sim is amazingly done and all the designers did such a wonderful job on different centuries and styles. There is nearly nothing you will not find there. From really old times over 20s, 30s, 40s up to the 80s .. all time periods are represented.

For this post I decided to go with one of my favourite designs from a wonderful talented and amazing lady. Salt, owner and designer of Salt & Pepper, is an incredible designer. you can see that on all of her work. She puts so much love in her designs and she has a real great eye for details and textures. When I saw her “Yvette” harness, which she released as an exclusive at the Vintage Fair.

Usually if you hear the word ‘harness’ you immediately think about black leather straps and silver rings… but the “Yvette” harness from Salt & Pepper is so far from that! It is an amazing little harness with lots of decorations and very filigree as well. The thin leather straps are just holding the decorations in place it seems ๐Ÿ˜‰ At the waist you have an amazing belt looking part, which is decorated with pearls. With the HUD you are able to change the leather color as well as the metal colors! The amazing pasties are part of the whole outfit and as well work with the HUD to customize everything to your personal likings ๐Ÿ˜‰

For the hair I as well chose a new release I found at the Vintage Fair. The “Denisa” hair style was a wonderful addition to underline the vintage feeling of the “Yvette” harness. With the typical pin-up style it was just looking right for what I was looking for. The amazing huge pearl earrings are made by Elysium and the jewelry I just mixed and matched of different parts of AvaWay, Lybra and Elysium. To me pearls are always a must somehow for early vintage looks ;), plus there were this amazing pearls on the outfit already so I just had to ๐Ÿ™‚ .

For the shoes it HAD to be peep toes ๐Ÿ˜‰ I chose the “Zinnia” heels from Glamistry, as with the huge HUD possibilities it was super to match them to the outfit and with the great detailed work of Glamistry you really can do nothing wrong anyways which kind of style you are doing!

The whole scenery I did built of striped mocha items. The sweet little birdcages are as well a Vintage Fair exclusive and with the hanging lotuses and that amazing bed it just made the most amazing scenery for my pictures. For the poses I went through various poses and picked out from all kind of pose designers like DARE, Body Talking or Corpus and even more I do not even remember ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I had a great time with my little journey through past times and hope you enjoy this post as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Play the Trumpet?

Today I am very happy to showcase another amazing design of Faster Pussycat, one of my favourite designers and a great friend of mine as well.

This time it will be the “Trumpet Jacket & Pants”

I always loved the designs of Faster Pussycat, as they are so amazing out of the box. Honey Bender, owner and Designer for Faster Pussycat, together with PoosyKat LittleBoots do both have a very special taste for fabrics and color, which I love a lot.

This time it is a neat combination of blue and gold with some amazing patterns on the pants and parts of the jacket. The texture and the shape or the jacket remind me of a past time uniform type – or those 19th century music corps style – and together with the modern pants hold by a simple rope that is put through huge framed holes, it makes a great contrast.

The neat accessories come from LeEnfant Terrible. She has such an amazing quality on her items and they are all so detailed that they were the perfect addition on the amazing detailed “Trumpet” outfit.

since the outfit had a more masculine feeling to it, I again wanted to go with a contrast on the hair style. I chose the “Jaily” style from EMO-tions. With the puffy curls and the loosely wisps, together with the amazing rose attachment it looked perfect for the idea I wanted to go for. The rose attachment brought me on the “Shippoa” choker from Mandala for the necklace.

For the makeup I again did a mix and match of Nuuna’s makeups… yes I am totally addicted to her bold make up ideas. To Nuuna’s always is kind of charter makeup, that can set strong statements to a certain look. With the busy and detailed outfit, I wanted to do more editorial looking pictures to not miss the details on the styling. I more and more love to experiment with editorial shoots and new angles that are not looking that common, so this picture session really was fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOTD 05/22/2016 – Landscape, Scenery or Editorial?

Sometimes it is a hard decision how you want your photo to look like.

This time I was pondering a lot between an editorial look, or just find a matching landscape or if I wanna build a scenery on my platform.

ย

I started with roaming around sims to find an ice location first when Anderian IMed me and we talked about editorial shots. I told her I am looking for something modern hippy looking when she suggested to just try google for 70s editorial fashion shots.

And there my vision of a landscape did go… now I wanted to do an editorial one :p

Enough of story telling about sceneries, let’s get the view on the clothing ๐Ÿ˜‰

The amazing “Happy Stroll in the Rain” jeans from Whimsical Imaginarium are the base of my todays styling. I got those amazing pants from Bodza, while we were talking and I fell immediately in love with them. I have a heart for wide flaired bell bottom pants in RL as well… I am not a 70s person, I was born in the 70s so the basic late 70s trends did pass me by while being a little child. Even if I remember some of those being in my wardrobe.. especially those weird wide dresses that started to get wide under the chest…

Now you gonna say ‘Oh yeah there is millions of those pants on the grid’ but well.. those catched my eyes because of the amazing texture and as well with the idea of having one lower leg colored different. To cover the color break on the knee, Bodza put some delicate lace and as well to repeat the colors ( yes I am a friend of no standalone colors… :p ) one oft the back pockets has the same color.

The amazing textured top is made by Asia Rae and it was a perfect addition to the amazing jeans – style and colorwise ๐Ÿ˜‰ The “Demy Crop Top” comes with a color HUD so you can customize the top to your needs colorwise.

For the jewelry I decided to go for a mix and match of 2 different Kungler sets and an amazing necklace from Charm. The cool glasses that did underline the modern 70s look I got from agapee. They are kinda funny to use, as they come with a HUD that lets you move the glasses up to your head with an animation and as well you have 3 options for the glasses to fold the front side up.

For the hair I decided to go with a new style from Truth, which was released on the actual round of the Enchantment event.ย  The hair is very versatile too as you get different options for the forehead part and several sizes for all kind of chest sizes.

The best shoes to go for todays look were wedges (Grand I can hear you on that one and believe me, usually I am not a friend of wedges myself, but that look simply called for them!)

The “Oksana Leather Heels” from [MODA] actually did not look that bad and with their huge HUD – all of their shoes have that huge HUD – it was quite easy to match them in color to the rest of the look ๐Ÿ™‚

Since I wanted something clean and editorial looking, as well as something with sit poses – which are so underestimated in so many blogs – I tried my luck on the “Lovers Crate Seat” from Shutter Field. The poses in that little cube are quite awesome, they just did not go too well with my outfit, so I just tried random poses out of my inventory to make it work. I realized very fast that having long legs and being a little bit above the average in terms of height, makes sitting a huge challenge :p . But with some minor graphic surgery even that worked out quite well. Since I am not that great skilled in working with editing programs, I can promise it really only was minor fixing ๐Ÿ˜‰

So in the end, it was the editorial version for today, but like I said to Tempe lately when we talked – and she agreed with me – … every style, every look, can call for something special. I neither wanna miss the fun roaming around on sims to find amazing locations, nor I would like to just have self-built sceneries or only white screened pictures for my blog. It is a lot about moods, feelings and emotions, that make me decide what the end result will be ๐Ÿ˜‰
