LOTD 03/26/2017 – Yesterday @ GizzA

Working at GizzA is so much fun, you meet new people everyday and as well you have probably the 2 of the best bosses ever. Giz and Auster are 2 of the most kind people I ever met in Second Life and so work is even more fun especially if the come around to check the store and have time for little chit-chat 😉

GizzA had many new releases lately – as always –  it was hard to pick one for my today’s shift.

Finally my decision fell on the “Karlie Sweater Dress”.

The dress can be worn without any pants or leggings as well, but I am not a fan of bare legs too much, plus the season not yet has me in the mood for that 😉

The sweater dress comes in many different colors and you get for each of them 2 different shades and a HUD for the belt.

For the pants I chose some leggings from Lassitude & Ennui, that just matched the tone of the sweater perfectly.

That look just matched the season mood I am in at the moment, ready for spring to come even if it is freezy outside still later in the afternoons!

Seductive Chic in a Spring Mood

Spring is coming! – At least it looked like yesterday even if the wind was horrible again today :p

To my todays feeling the “Plaisir” dress from [sys] just was the right match. The short dress with the high open, loosely collar and the seductive open back… perfect for the first few warm sun moments.

The huge cutout in the back really makes the “Plaisir” dress mega special. Only the thick brown leather strap hold the whole dress in place 😉 And look how deep the cut out is… you really have to be careful with your moves… 😉

I chose to wear some leggings under the dress and I know I had blogged those already before, but I really do love them a lot. The “Hisa Leather Leggings” from lassitude & ennui. I was so amazed when I put them on the first time, that appliers can look so realistic and actually do look like a mesh item while they are appliers ‘only’. All those shadows and lights , the folds and wrinkles, they are so realistic I really had to cam close to see that they are really flat on the body… incredible!

The super chic glasses are made by Glamistry and just were the perfect accessory for the look to give it an even more chic look. The “PU2003” sunglasses have a cat-eye feeling to them as well as a soft vintage touch, this kind of shape is my personal fave anyways 😉 It does remind me of those 50s pin-up glasses a little bit.

I really enjoyed the sim a lot after I was doing my shoots. I never was at Anduril before, but I am sure I was not there the last time. they have so many different corners there and all are built with so much love to the detail, it was hard to choose one for the pictures already when I arrived there and looked around. Sometimes it is really worth it to jump through the search to find a new sim, or even look into the destination guide of SL, instead of just using the ones you already know very well. It can be time-consuming, but you can find some neat places out there.

I hope you could feel some of my spring feelings for that post 😉

Styling Challenge – It is all about a Bow!

Ok… I admit I am a little bot crazy sometimes :p, but most of you know that anyways 😉

Anyways, today the reason for my style and pictures was a wonderful head bow.

A friend gave it to me, it is part of her new gacha and when I saw it, I just HAD to think about a ways how I could showcase it 😉

So, where to start with… first of all, put the bow on. That already was a hard choice, because Twelve gave me not only one to choose from :p. In the end I decided to go with the”Black Snow” one. I always had an addiction for black, white and red so that one just really caught me.

First I thought about a lingerie styling for the bow only and went through my lingerie folder, where I found the “Claire” teddy set from Blacklace. When I did put it on, I realized only lingerie would not be what I would like for the ‘Bow style’ and I started experimenting with several ideas.

I tried some dresses and gowns, they all looked nice, but maybe too nice and smooth 😉

Then I found the “Hisa” leather leggings from Lassitude & Ennui in my leggings folder and with the black and white combination they looked amazing to the bow, but had a serious break/collision at the hips with the lingerie. I needed something to cover that up without hiding one of both. Next step – I typed ‘shorts’ in the search field of my inventory. Oh man… I better should not have done that… I did not even realize before how many ‘shorts’ I have…

Ok… focus Wicca… focus… you need something to cover the waist area. Maybe some high waist shorts would be a good idea! Back to the search window – ‘belted shorts’

Bingo! The “Celine” shorts from Asteria popped up as oe of the first and when I tried them on, I knew those would be the ones to use.

Now the arms looked a little bare and I thought about some kind of jacket. After trying some long-sleeved jackets, which usually were either close or too close in the front, I came across the “Neith” jacket, made by [sys].

That amazing jacket with the scales looking fabric and the short sleeves was just perfect, with the great open front. That even gave room for the amazing necklace from Empyrean Forge.

A tattoo for the arms came to my mind first, but after trying som of my favourite tattoos, I realized I need something more subtile. The amazing slit and sheer sleeves from the “Occult Jacket” just matched awesome under the short sleeves of the “Neith” jacket from [sys].

Looking at the style from all sides I really was happy with it, just some shoes were missing. No high boots, that would take off too much from the leggings, but pumps or stilettos would be too ‘tiny’. All of a sudden an ankle boots came to my mind, which I got longer ago and never had a chance to wear them. The super cute “Wicked” shoes from Moon Elixir. They even come with an amazing socks option!

PERFECTAMENTE!

With that weird mix and match, I got the feeling, that no location, that I know of would fit and so I started to build my own little set for the picture. The “Kira” sculpture from E.V.E Studio is an ultra rare of one of Noke’s gachas. First I thought it would be too huge, but with the great liquid looking ground part it worked out so nicely. I added the “Ivy Bonsai” and some parts of the “Chained Roses”. First it looked like a whole mess, as I am not the greatest set builder, but after some moving and twisting and turning it fell into place 😉

I never made a style based on just one hair bow, but I have to admit, that style would have never come together like this, if I would not have started with the bow :p

Maybe I should do that more often again… just start with a little accessory and see what it does lead me to!

Mix & Match… still my favourite way of styling even if mesh makes it more and more hard;)

With the mesh body rigged clothing it is even harder as it already was with standard mesh sizes, but if you try hard enough it still works somehow… mostly :p

Especially if you want to wander around with your mix and match styles in SL and not just do pictures, where you can cheat about poke through or bad back views 😉

Sometimes it can help that you combine several parts of one designer, but not always you find what you want by just going through several outfits from one designer – plus I really do love the challenge to combine different creators as well 😉

I had a talk lately with one of my close friends about what is the advantage of standard sizes and mesh body sizes, because many designers do not even offer standard sizes anymore.

Part of that is that the SL community more and more uses the mesh bodies and standard sizes not always do fit on those, even if you can work many especially if you are not going to show too much skin. sometimes it does not matter for a simple pair of jeans, if you can alpha out everything properly what is covered by the jeans, or if you wear a full body suit with long sleeves for arms and legs. The more skin you show the more difficult it becomes because of the default alpha HUD for each mesh body.

But with the bigger usage of mesh bodies, certainly designers will tend towards the appropriate sizes and rigging to those as well. So I guess some when the standard sizes will be gone due the fact that they will not sell to well anymore.

And exactly because of this, I keep some parts even if they are older. I know many laughed when I told about my inventory numbers and called me a fool that needs to rezz forever, but for mix and matches sometimes if you sneak in an older part it can make it interesting again and as well spares you a lot of headaches by fiddling with fitted mesh only 😉 (I am not saying i would use my hair from 2008 or really old looking accessories from 2010 all the time, but I do keep some things that are timeless for me and probably useful)

I am looking forward where SecondLife will go and with the new Bento possibilities it will be a new adventure like it was with every new possibility the past years – That keeps SL exciting to me… working out new things and new ways of importing likes and dislikes into a new way of virtual life 😉

Maybe in 10 years we laugh about good old times with standard mesh sizes, like we do now about flexible prims and sculpts :p

The weather at the moment drives me crazy… It is November and we have 12° to 17° celsius.

So one side of me wants to do winter mood pictures, the other tells me it is too warm outside to get into that mood :p .So when I unpacked the “Artemis” dress from [sys] I had to do another more autumn looking one;)

The amazing earrings and the cool bracelet I used come from MEVA and the clear pack pulled hair was done by EMO-tions.

The sim I chose for the pictures is one of my favourite casual looking sims. The “west of the Rain” sim is such a lovely island with so many different scenes and corners.

Sweet & Cute

A babydoll in black.. that sounded like a challenge for me*grins*

I really do have a cute side even if it mostly exists in the shadows 😉

The amazing “Brigitte” babydoll from AZUL, dragged out that sweet side and I really had fun doing something with it. “Brigitte” is a mix between flexible prims and as well mesh body appliers/body layers. The basic dress goes directly on your body weather you use your system avatar or one of the popular mesh bodies. AZUL offers appliers for Slink, Maitreya, Belleza, TMP and Omega. The cute bow and the amazing skirt prims are super flexible in a very natural way. I tried to catch the softness on the pictures but if you see them inworld they look even better!

Now how to style that sweet babydoll… Certainly I could have done a bedroom looking style but I really wanted to go different, since I did so many lingerie posts already lately :p.

I remembered the “Savage” legwraps from the last round of The Fantasy Collective. I wanted to use them so badly before and never found a matching look. When I put them on they immediately made a wonderful contrast to the cuteness of the babydoll.

So the dress and the leg wraps are really solid and already make a statement, but I still wanna use some accessories and as well shoes. They should all be somewhat filigree and so my choice fell on the “Elowen” set from Wicca’s Wardrobe. I only used the arm parts, the headpiece and the necklace. With the HUD I was able to match them to the golden parts of the leg wraps.

For the fingers I used some rings of my favourite prim rings and nail maker – Formanails. Ivi Bing offers amazing detailed jewelry for hands and nails.. I never found anything comparable somewhere else. All her accessories usually made for Maitreya, standard avatar and for the casual and elegant version of the Slink hands! The ones I used today are called “Simple Rings” and they were right the kind of rings I wanted, to not overload the whole look.

Last but not least the amazing sweet and curled hair I found with Tukinowaguma. The “Helga” hair style I liked so much because of all the wisps and curls as well as the pulled back part with the braids, so that not everything around the head down the shoulders is covered… if that makes sense (<< silly German here)

Overall I so had funny putting together my little fairy and I only needed to find a location for the pics. I remembered a sim, which I was shown by wonderful gentleman. Lakeside, recently even got revamped and is now even more romantic that before. With many hidden places and spots it is a miracle 🙂 Every time when I go there, I find new corners and new parts I never saw before. It is really worth a visit 🙂

Fame with Roses & Chains

I have no clue how I came on the idea for this pictures… but it was fun :p

I know I saw that roses at Skye’s place when we did a shooting and remembered I got those too. When I saw them again, I so wanted to do something with them and when I unpacked a few boxes I found the perfect dress and all of a sudden everything fell together 😉

But lets start from the beginning…

This time it was not an outfit that started the whole idea, it really was a set I was playing around with. I started with the “DYSTOPIA Chained Roses” from E.V.E Studio. I found so many parts in the folders… different roses with chains, standalone petals and as well several colors… I decided to go with the bronze ones as I loved the red touch paired with either a golden or a black chain. While I was playing around with arranging the roses I came across the “Splashing Droplets” in gold, which just matched the “Chained Roses” perfectly.

 When I unpacked the “FAME” dress from [sys]which you can find at the actual round of The Liaison Collaborative and saw the chains at the high cut on the left side… I did know that was the right dress for that picture 😉

The dress is a very simple one BUT with great asymmetric details. The left arm is covered by a long sleeve while the right arm is totally bare. The left side has a high slit which is decorated with many rows of chains.

Another great detail I would love to focus as well. The amazing rings and hand bands from Formanails. Formanails does the most incredible hand jewelry and nails I ever saw. Most of the designs are made for either Maitreya or Slink Casual or Slink Formal hands.

Overall the whole scenery with the looks and the set looked weird and cool the same time to me so I just had fun to take some pics and see what comes out 😉 It was a new feeling to me, to style according to a set instead of the other way round *giggles*. It was a great experience and as well some kind of a new challenge for me, maybe I should do that more often 😉
