Tonight is the Night!

As promised… one more Vintage Fair post, even if Vintage Fair ends today. But while you have a last chance today to go shopping, I am sure you will find all the great creations and designs at the main store of all brands soon.

Today the main inspiration was the idea to prepare for a first date back in the good old days 🙂 The amazing gown from Salt & Pepper and the incredible jewelry from Tres Beau made me do a classy and elegant  post! Not happening that often, but with that awesome designs, I could not resist 😉

As I mentioned in my last post, I really do love The Vintage Fair – I do have to admit I do have a weakness for vintage looks, even if usually show my dark side mostly. Most of my addiction comes from the music of that times. Music was/is always very close connected with fashion at all times and sometimes musicians even were style icons. The Beatles, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Edith Piaff, ABBA, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones, Marlene Dietrich, Ray Charles, Paul Anka anyways what name I would drop, I am sure you could easily recall how they have looked 🙂 Being a musician in RL myself, I always looked about the development of music – maybe thats why I like some of the vintage styles, when I do like the music that belongs to that certain time.

Let’s go back to the actual purpose of my post today. It was really fun to use some poses I never had used before, but they made total sense in this picture series. It started wit the cool “Eau De Parfum’ Prop Set” from WetCat, where my idea was born to kinda go through a whole series of how you prepare before you go on a date :)you make your way into your room, sit down and think about what you would to look like and then you start doing your make up and perfuming 🙂

I have to go back to the 2 amazing designs, that are center of my today’s style and post idea. The “Evelyn” dress from Salt & Pepper certainly comes with a texture HUD to change the color of fabrics and metals. and  is rigged for Slink Hourglass, Belleza Freya and Maitreya Lara. The way how Salt created and formed her fabric is just awesome as it does make it look so realistic. The shape of the dress already screams vintage all over but the colors really underline that too. The outfit usually comes with a matching head-wrap too, but I wanted to use the amazing hat made by Tres Beau for this post.

The delicate veil and the amazing feathers as well as the “Betty” jewelry really caught my heart. I adore Kimmera Madison for years, not only because she is my sister, but as well for her incredible awesome skills of designing and texturing. Kimmera was the first who released the first Wedding Gown in SL, her brand Tres Beau is one of the oldest fashion brands in SL. When she started back in 2004, ther was not even an idea about flexies, scupties or even mesh… she started the hard way with pure system layers painted on the avatar itself and made her way through all the changes Second Life made about designing. You rarely find designers, that are still around and in business after such a long time and all the changes! To me that is something I highly respect – we all saw how many designers left Second Life, when mesh was invented.

Even if this post and style is something non usual for me, I do enjoy it immensely. Maybe you noticed, that I do not wear my regular “face” for this post. I decided since Wicca is not really an elegant person, that I would like to try the “Cate” head from LeLutka. Cate looked very young to me on the vendor, but after fooling around with skins, I was able to give her a ‘grand dame look’.

Tres Beau for Scala Gradiversary

Look #1: Tres Beau - "Breeze" (melon)

Look #1: Tres Beau – “Breeze” (melon)

Today there was a wonderful and exciting event going on at the Scala HQ. The Gradiversary event.

What is a Gradiversary event you might ask yourself… it is a mix of Anniversary and Graduation Show 😉

Scala celebrates its 2nd Anniversary this year and so they decided to have a combination of an Anniversary and Graduation show.

With 19 designers, that made exclusive collections and releases for that show, it was a great celebration and I would like to show case one of them today.

Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau.

Tres Beau is one of the oldest and most popular clothing stores in SL and with her quality of designs, texturing, fabrics and colors she certainly is one of the top stores in SL for a very long time. How was that quote I got told so often when I was a child… quality will prevail and remain 😉

For the Gradiversary event, Tres Beau created 3 different outfits, which are available in more colors that I will showcase today.

The first one you can see above, the “Breeze” ensemble. A wonderful combination of a compfy tank shirt and skirt with an amazing leather belt. The fresh colors already point out on the upcoming spring season and so the outfit is just the perfect choice.

Look #2: Tres Beau - "Sam" (tan)

Look #2: Tres Beau – “Sam” (tan)

The “Sam” combination again shows how fashionable knitted designs can be 😉 The outfit comes in the standard sizes and as well in a slink and maitreya mesh body friendly version.

With the long arms and the high waist skirt – which just let a small space for the belly to peek through – is a perfect addition for the upcoming spring season. Still warm and cozy and as well sexy and fashion forward, this ensemble is available in several colors at the Tres Beau Mainstore!

I just added a stole from GizzA and boots from MODA to underline that wonderful chick attitude. The wonderful bag with the perfect color range was made by PurpleMoon.

Look #3: Tres Beau - "Tiffany" (teal)

Look #3: Tres Beau – “Tiffany” (teal)

For the third style, I am wearing the “Tiffany” gown in teal. A wonderful tight mesh gown with an amazing flexible bottom, that makes it very filigree, soft and airy.  The soft gradient on the color gives you a lot of options for accessories. The elegant necklace and earrings are already part of the outfit so i skipped any other kind of accessory to not overload the fine and delicate gown. Like the 2 other designs, the “Tiffany ” gown is available in more amazing color gradients and tones at the Tres Beau Mainstore.

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – Formal Gown of Iceland 2013 by Tres Beau & Chop Zuey

MVW 2013 Iceland Formal Full

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. One evening gown and one national costume for each lady. Every year when I saw the MVW finale it was an exciting moment to see the results, that designers and models worked on for so many weeks. Last year I took the challenge to make a full catalogue of all the gowns and costumes. The idea must have inspired some bloggers this year and they started to do that for the MVW 2013 designs. I decided for my own not to do the same again and just would like to showcase my personal favourites. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order

:)

The gown for Miss Virtual Iceland 2013 was made my Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau. I have to admit, as I was sitting there and watching the finale, this was one of those gowns that made me go “WOW”. The wonderful flowers and ruffles go so perfectly together and the color change from the bottom to the top just is made so carefully and with such an amazing feeling for the gradient. The combination of white, teal and the yellow of the flowers are awesome chosen. Again we can see that the long experience of Kimmera and her incredible skills for shapes and colors, let her made this beautiful gown.

The wonderful jewelry for “Miss Zaara123 ” gown are crafted by Belle Roussel, owner and designer of Chop Zuey. The “Eilifu” set with its amazing white pearls is the perfect addition to this stunning gown. The “Eilifu” set contains earrings, collar and bracelet.

The “Miss Zaara123” gown you can purchase at the Tres Beau Mainstore and for the “Eilifu” set you just have to stop by at the Chop Zuey Mainstore 🙂

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Finland 2013 by Tres Beau

The wonderful national costume for Miss V Finland 2013, Miss Irina Strazytski, was made by Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau.

What I liked a lot for this creation was the fact, that Kimmera mixed traditional parts with some modern looking but still traditional parts. The outfit comes a ‘ready-to-wear’ with the boots and the headpiece 🙂 The long wool pullover again is amazing textured and the huge fur on the back gives a typical flair for the scandinavian country. To know a bit more about the inspiration behind the “Miss Finland” costume, I would like to quote Irina herself 🙂

Irina Strazytski:

“I come from the land of thousand lakes and midnight sun – Finland. My national outfit is inspired by the finnish mythology and folklore, Kalevala – our national epic – in particular. To me Kalevala represents one of the most significant aspects of our culture and our mentality. It’s been the inspiration of many artists, designers and composers, and it continues to influence the Finnish life even today. I wanted my national costume to reflect the part of my country’s heritage which is the closest to my heart and which I’m the most proud of.”

My personal favourites of MVW2013 – National Costume of Miss Portugal 2013 by Tres Beau

MVW - Miss Portugal National Full

Miss Virtual World 2013 – Again BoSL showcased an amazing event on December the 15th 2013, with the finale of the MVW 2013 contest. Many countries were represented by amazing ladies and it was really an exciting event. Designers and models worked together for their 2 final looks. First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order 🙂

The national costume of Miss V Portugal 2013, Miss Jade Spectre, made me look up. Between all the gowns and costumes I saw one of a sudden pants and boots… That I had to see closer and I tried to zoom on Jade without crashing during the MVW 2013 finale. The pants made a light masculine, strong look. Paired with the super feminine ruffles and the detailed textures of Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau, just made a perfect outfit that for me and a great representation of portuguese tradition and history. For a better information about that, I would like to quote Jade herself with her little text for her national costume.

Jade Spectre:

“I wanted to pay tribute to the Cavaleiros – the remarkable women bullfighters who represent the rich history and long-standing traditions of the Portuguese culture. My respect for these women goes really deep and is unique to the Portuguese culture, so I decided I wanted to also bring that to the Miss Virtual World Pageant, but with a totally different approach to the style and design. Still specific to the theme, but with a more couture flair.

These brave women perform on horseback in rich 18th century, colorful and extravagant designs. The Portuguese tradition of bull fighting is more compassionate and more of a show of tradition than other forms of bullfighting. Other than the Cavaleiros riding on horseback, they nor do the Matadors of Portugal kill the bull during the ceremony, nor do they harm it in any way.

The costume is highly detailed with rich gold accents, trim, brocade, and embroidery. The undershirt, pants, cuffs and back of the jacket are very detailed in gold embellishment. The colors of the Portuguese flag – red, green and gold are represented, but in different shades to make the costume more authentic and comparable to the actual costumes of the Cavaleiros. Therefore we used the custom green of the Portuguese Flag, mixed with a deep burgundy transition to represent the red of the flag. The gorgeous ruffle collar and skirt along with the skirt attachment give a touch of modern couture to the design. The authentic hat, patterned trousers, broad shoulders, and arm cuffs are very important to the look of the costume reflect the strength of those women and replicates details of their true costumes. I chose this National Costume to honor the women of Portugal in modern and present day society, and their place in Portuguese culture and history.”

My personal favourites of the MVW 2013 – National Costume of Miss Turkey by Tres Beau & Chop Zuey

MVW - Miss Turkey National Full

First I thought about to do my personal top 12, but then I figured that I like more than 12 and just thought about doing all the ones that really caught my attention in no particular order 🙂

Today I would like to start with the national costume of Miss V Turkey 2013. The “Miss Turkey 2013” gown was made by Kimmera Madison, owner and designer of Tres Beau. Tres Beau is one of the designers that contributes creations to the Miss Virtual World finale for years. What always amazes me on the Tres Beau national costumes, is that it seems Kimmer Madison does a hell of research for each country she gets asked. The colors, the textures, the designs are always go along the real traditional clothing of the respective country. The “Miss Turkey 2013” costume is textured with wonderful filigree and rich colors of gold and red. The wonderful ornaments show the love and the eye for the detail Kimmera puts on her creations. The body part of the gown is made of a wonderful mesh prim that you will get in different sizes to make sure it fits your shape as well. The wonderful flexible parts of the skirt and arms give the whole creation a typical traditional, oriental and turkish look. If you take a closer look of the 2 pictures you will see a difference for the headpiece. I wanted to showcase the gown with all its parts and as well the whole jewelry set, that Miss Nice Wildrose was wearing for the finale.

Nice Wildrose:

“My inspiration for my national look is Hurrem Sultan, the wife of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent who played an important role in the Ottoman history and was an influential figure for the women of Harem and other denizens of the palace.”

MVW - Miss Turkey National Close

The “Hurrem” jewelry was made by Belle Roussel, owner and designer of Chop Zuey. Belle created a wonderful set of earrings, necklace, tiara and ring. The tiara is made with 2 parts, you just add the one attachment over the other. The combination of the gold metal with the white, red, green and black gems matches the costume perfectly. Each part is made of so many single prims, that you just can imagine how long Belle had to sit at her workshop to put all of these together 🙂

You can get the “Miss Turkey 2013” costume at the Tres Beau Mainstore and the “Hurrem” jewelry you will find at the Chop Zuey Mainstore.

I would like to lead your view on the hair I chose for this post. The “Desireme” hair was made by Leah McCullough. Leah reactivated her brand Naive and you can buy already a few different items including this hair style on Marketplace. The “Desireme” hair is available in 8 different colors. Leah made the hair modify so that you can change the color or the texture to your own likings. For the colors she provides she made hairbases as well, wich you can as well recolor to match the hair style.

News and Spectacular Christmas Special at Mea Culpa!!!

Wicca Siren full

Today I am very happy to showcase one of the latest Mea Culpa releases. The “Call of the Sirene” outfit again is a little piece of art of Tatanka Kaligawa, owner and designer of Mea Culpa.

The “Call of the Sirene” outfit was made for the last Fashion Teller and it’s inspiration were the historical Sirens.

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous and devious creatures, portrayed as femmes fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets placed them on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli. In some later, rationalized traditions, the literal geography of the “flowery” island of Anthemoessa, or Anthemusa, is fixed: sometimes on Cape Pelorum and at others in the islands known as the Sirenuse, near Paestum, or in Capreae. All such locations were surrounded by cliffs and rocks.

When the Sirens were given a name of their own they were considered the daughters of the river god Achelous, fathered upon Terpsichore, Melpomene, Sterope, or Chthon. Although they lured mariners, for the Greeks the Sirens in their “meadow starred with flowers” were not sea deities. Roman writers linked the Sirens more closely to the sea, as daughters of Phorcys. Sirens are found in many Greek stories, particularly in Homer’s Odyssey.

Their number is variously reported as between two and five. In the Odyssey, Homer says nothing of their origin or names, but gives the number of the Sirens as two. Later writers mention both their names and number: some state that there were three, Peisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepeia or Parthenope, Ligeia, and Leucosia; Eustathius states that they were two, Aglaopheme and Thelxiepeia. Their individual names are variously rendered in the later sources as Thelxiepeia/Thelxiope/Thelxinoe, Molpe, Aglaophonos/Aglaope/Aglaopheme, Pisinoe/Peisinoë/Peisithoe, Parthenope, Ligeia, Leucosia, Raidne, and Teles.

The Sirens of Greek mythology are often confused with the Gorgons portrayed in later folklore as half women–half birds, (birds sing beautiful, enchanting songs, like the sirens are portrayed to do); the fact that in Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Romanian and Portuguese the word for mermaid is respectively Sirena, Sirène, Sirena, Syrena, Sirenă and Sereia, and that in biology the Sirenia comprise an order of fully aquatic mammals that includes the dugong and manatee, add to the visual confusion, so that Sirens are even represented as mermaids. However, “the sirens, though they sing to mariners, are not sea-maidens,” Jane Ellen Harrison has cautioned; “they dwell on an island in a flowery meadow.

Tatanka Kaligawa made his own vision of a modern and fashionable Siren come true with his latest creation;)

Wicca’s Wardrobe: A Tribute to Rita Hayworth

Wicca - Rita Hayworth Full 003

TUNES (Put the Blame on Mame – Rita Hayworth)

Rita Hayworth was an american actress and dancer. Her greatest success she had in the 40’s, where her fans gave her the nick “The Love Goddess”. With the movie “Gilda“, she acted side by side with Glenn Ford. This movie made Rita and Glenn one of the most well-known love couples of the movie history and the role of the dancer Gilda who drove so many guys nuts is always affiliated with Rita Hayworth. A very famous scene from that movie as well is the song “Blame on Mame” that I linked above where Rita Hayworth takes off her long black glove 🙂

27_jean_louis-theredlist1

The styling itself was not even planned like this as I only searched for an appropriate outfit for the Miss Virtual World 2013 finale. I combined parts of PurpleMoon’s “Falbala” dress with skirt of the “Paulinha” gown from Azul. The jewelry as well is a mix of 2 different sets of Finesmith, the “Falbala” bracelet and gown decor paired with the “Radiance” earrings and necklace. The coat, that I carry in my left hand is part of Tres Beau‘s “Diana” outfit. I was not wearing it at the finale of MVW 2013 but for the picture I wanted to, it was an amazing detail I did not wanna miss 😉 I just recolored the white to a golden tone to match the jewelry.

In the end it was Malicia Python, who brought me on the idea of Rita Hayworth as we talked and I was thinking of a background and scenery for snapping the styling.

One of the most popular pictures of Rita Hayworth is the one you can see above. I kinda loved the challenge to make my version of this wonderful classy and still sexy image and so I tried to make a pose that comes close to the one on the picture. At the end the cigarette could not be missing and I found a wonderful sculpted one from Meli Imako, that I just had to texture by myself 🙂 In the end I really liked the idea of my own vision of this little “Rita Hayworth goes SL” and I hope you enjoy it as well 😉
