Challenge: How to combine Shiny and Matte in one Look?!?

Today I just wanted to take a day off from SL and RL work and have some fun shooting some pictures without having any task or deadline.

Sometimes it is just nice to go through your inventory, sort your latest purchases and see what you can do with what you got. Especially if it is not full or ready made outfits, but some single items like special leg parts or a corset. I love o do mix and match outfits, even if it is sometimes a pain in the butt with fitted mesh. I mean you can cheat for a picture, but if you want to run around a while in SL with your new look.. not so much :p

I already said that before, but every time I again start mixing and matching, I could start cursing again and again. Not because of the designs, more about the fact that you can not anymore ‘layer’ clothing as easy anymore. Before, when we had standard sizes it wasn’t super easy either but you were able to lightly cheat with the different mesh sizes. Now with fitted mesh we have way more nice fits and movements and we can can have a more unique shape under our clothing again – everything has it’s own advantage I guess :p

Anyways, today I was in a ‘casual’ mood – a Wicca casual mood *winks* To me casual means nothing fancy, nothing elegant just the way how I would do an everyday outfit. Everyone has his/her own way, how they see their casual I guess. I can not even remember, what piece I started with this time. I know I was sorting my objects folder, all the things I got lately and while I was unpacking and sorting things properly into my inventory, trying things to know what exactly it was, if there were no pictures in the folder and some when I was wearing this jacket from A&Y and those cool leg parts from Insomnia Angel. First it did not look as it would fit together… the jacket is kinda shiny leather while the leg parts are made or a mode matte, suede looking leather. Such things poke my inner stubborn and I set myself a challenge to make them fit together – if that makes sense.

I was looking at both designs and tried to figure out what they do have together. First I realized the straps and the buckles on both items – the first ‘connection’ was made. I played around with the awesome HUD from A&Y for the “Siren Cyber Jacket” to see what combination works best color and shade wise with the leg parts. Then I found that neat corset, which had a light shone. Not as much as the jacket bit more than the leg parts. Perfect to create a ‘bridge’ for both parts :). The Corset originally came with a panty, which did not look like I wanted the style to. There the headache began again… challenge: find pants that fit under that corset! I typed ‘shorts’ in the search field of my inventory and found maaaany. Believe it or not, it took me nearly 2 hours until I found 3 (!) out of hundred that would work in terms of being black and fit under the corset and only that one I am wearing did match in the style I was looking for.

The rest should be kinda fast and easy compared to the shorts odyssey… at least I thought so until it came to the shoes… the “Lizzy  – Bandage Socks” – that is how the leg parts are called – have the great option too choose between high and flat feet on the HUD, I really loved that fact. I decided for my cool biker look it has to be flat feet, heavy style. I did aim for the idea to have the boots under the leg parts, but they are so awesome tight fitting, that it took a while until I found shoes that had the perfect height to still fit.

Last but not least I wanted to have some cool earrings – nothing elegant but still visible and not too tiny. I remembered the cool “Akasuna” ears from .:E.A.Studio:., which Shina released at the ACCESS event this month – they were just perfect! With the cool HUD it was relatively easy to match the skin tone (Color under Cursor is your best friend!).

When I was near the end with my styling, I had an IM from Shena Neox. she showed me one of her latest releases for the eBENTO event and it was something that perfectly made the finish for my style. I showed her a gyazo of my look and we agreed that it must have been fate, that we talked in that very moment and she sent me the amazing “”Ambross Slave Collar” in black. Shena began with a shape store first bit lately she started to release mesh accessories – I have to admit I love them 😉 After styling for hours I had no desire to run around for a perfect location, nor I was in the mood to built a set. I recently changed the deco on our store parcel and it made a perfect location, I only did need a bike. I swear I thought I have one in my inventory.. with over 200K inventory, I really thought I have a motorbike somewhere, but I only found a modern, plastic looking one and that was not what I did imagine –  the only thing I found was a Vespa and that looked kinda odd with the style *giggles* After another couple of hours I found a bike at MotoDesign that I liked – Ready to go! I hope you like the results 🙂

It is weird… but lately I do love vibrant colors paired with black… that allows you to play with strong and deep hued lights as well. If you have such amazing clothes like from A&Y for example, where the designer really do know about materials – it is a dream to make pictures :)It is not a secret that I do love A&Y for a long time.. I even have very old things still in my inventory, as those kind of things are so rare and I really do love the style 🙂 It always is a mixture of fetish looking things but paired with futuristic elements. Maybe it is the kick ass amazing textures that add their piece to the designs, too. Such a realistic leather and latex you will rarely find. It is like you can feel the folds, leather gets from being worn, under your finger  😉

For ROMP and the Fetish Fair, A&Y released an amazing outfit combo of corset, panties and legwarmers. At ROMP you will find the corset while the rest is offered at the Fetish Fair. For the whole outfit you have the option of wearing it with the fishnet parts like I do today or even without.The hair of today’s pictures, comes from No.Match and was released at the Cosmopolitan event this month. What I do love a lot for the “No.Inspiration” hair style is, that you have a Bob style looking hair cut that goes a little higher up in the back and you can see the shaved under cut beneath it (hairbase). For a real bad girl I certainly had to put some tattoos from [White~Widow] and some super cool piercings from [CX] and Meva. I do love that kind of bad girl look paired with those deep vibrant colors – to me that adds even more “I will kick your ass” feelings *giggles*Now I will see what I can come up with next 😉

It was time again for some futuristic ideas 😉 Some times I do like to give myself some challenges and today, I wanted to bring together the awesome “Aglaya Latex Cyber Collar” – made by A&Y – and the super cute “Frenchie Ankle Boots” from [Gos]. Latex collar and some rough cloth looking ankle boots with a shiny leather tip. I made it a challenge for me to combine 2 complete different fabrics and none of both should look out of place, or have more impact than the other – if that makes sense. I wanted them to shine together with each other and not compete against. I looked though my inventory to balance out the style. The first day I tried it I was nearly giving up as nothing seemed to work – I already was about to use the full “Aglaya” set from A&Y as it goes so perfectly together. But I already blogged the other parts a few times (I still do love them like mad), plus I did not want to throw my first challenge of the year so quickly 😉

I had to find the right balance and fabrics to put together my look. After a while I found a top, that played directly in my hands with those different fabrics and so I had hope again that this could work out nevertheless! The “Ellie Corset Top”, a collaboration of Azuchi and Vinyl. I do have that for a longer time and for today it was the perfect choice. The top has a matte fabric, while the corset has the perfect shiny look. For the arms I used one one arm some classic opera gloves, which I pimped with the cool “Pyper 69 Upper Arm” bracelet. On the other arm I went with the bento enabled “Nemesis Arms” from Wicca’s Wardrobe with the shiny metal plates. The latex skirt from United Colors and some Nylon stockings connected the upper with the bottom and the crazy “Medusa Cyber Hair”, as well from A&Y, combined with the “Disco Glasses from #187#gave the whole style a futuristic look. Since the look already is so full of details I decided to use a more simple background to get a more editorial looking picture.

Surreal Dreams

I just realized I had a lot of unpacked gacha items in my inventory and so I was cleaning and sorting that huge folder, when I stumbled over the boxes of the Selenopolis gacha…

When I unpacked all the boxes… the more I saw the more I got excited! How I could I not yet have used those for pictures ?!?! I love all kind of cyber stuffs and with that kind of clothing and body modification, you can do so cool and amazing, surreal pictures.

With that kind of look, the set screams for being futuristic and surrealistic. What else than the amazing designs of E.V.E Studio would fit so amazing to that kind of style? I love the way how Noke Yuitza visions his dream worlds and with his creations it is really easy, to set up a surrealistic environment. I mixed and matched all kind of newer and older items together to create my background.

I guess I do have to unpack more and see what else got hidden in my inventory mess 😉 Maybe I discover some more cool stuff for new pictures!

Drows – A dark Fantasy

I never was a huge fan of elves, but when I first learned about Drows – dark skinned and evil elves – I had to change my mind and look more into that 😉

Second Life gives us a lot of possibilities about fantasy characters and if you know the stores for the right skins, accessories and outfits, it is really fun to step out of your human body and be a fantasy creature – even one with ‘stupid’ ears, as my partner usually says. Since I discovered the mesh ears from .:E:A:Studio:. I tend to use those kind of ears more often as they do have the most amazing ones. Just the tinting sometimes isn’t easy as the color on the ears always seems to look a little more flat than the actual body skin. Most of the times I can make it work though – thanks to Sadystika for pushing my nose into easiest solution for managing the gap of the mesh head ear alpha *hides*

Today was one of those days and with the cool new arm warmers from A&Y, it was the right time to bring the little dark elf back on. I still love the “Ginny” skin appliers from YS&YS and the skin for today is exactly one of those. Most of my fantasy skins are from YS&YS. I do not know what it is, but sometimes colors skins looks details and highlights if they are colored. With YS&YS, I always get the impression that they not just color overlay their skins, they really seem to built them up from scratch, like they do it with their human skins as well.

The “Aglaya” arm warmers from A&Y are another addition to the whole “Aglaya” collection. I already blogged about the cool corset and boots before. When I was styling I tried many other latex clothing and accessories, but none would match so perfect than the “Aglaya” collection it self and so I decided to just do it in a completely different color than before 😉

I am addicted to the A&Y clothing, hair and accessories – I rarely saw such detailed and incredible textured sci-fi clothing and her latex is just super realistic and does not have those huge, just white reflection spots that latex in SL usually has. I am just in love with everything what she does!

Those who know me… do know my favorite color is black and all shades of black*snickers* It was quite out of my comfort zone to go white for the base color. Ok I admit I tried all kind of dark colors before, but none did pop put so great with the dark Drow skin. Since I already was out of my usual comfort zone, I thought I can add some colors as well that I usually do not touch too much 😉

Using colors reminded me, that I bought a hair style from .shi lately, which would fit perfect. The “Sa-Rah V2” hair has a special option for a second haircolor all kind of colors. You can decide if you want to wear it as a full normal hair color or if you want to add some color in the front.

For a real Drow feeling I certainly needed some sharp nails or claws and certainly I found some at FORMANAILS 😉 The eyes as well could not stay human – thank god I was shopping at the CURELESS [+] sale lately and got those uber amazing “Spookshow Eyes”, that perfectly fitted to todays styling.

I will now enjoy my look a little more and see what sims I can find to get more Drow inspirations and maybe some more ideas for another post 😉

Recently I had the huge luck and pleasure to meet one of my dearest friends from SL in RL. I never would have thought of ever seeing her for real as she comes from Australia, the other half of the world!

We met in Bamberg, a romantic and amazing little city in Germany. She was on a little world trip and came to Germany on a river trip with a huge boat. The weather was amazing and so we could walk around and see a little bit of the historic buildings and then we sat down in the sun at a cafe and had some coffee and typical German drinks from our region. The feeling when I could hug her for real was indescribably amazing and priceless. She was exactly like I got to know her and it immediately felt so familiar and as I would know her my whole life. It was one of the rare moments, that showed me why it was worth sticking so long to SL as I never would have met her otherwise.

Sis, I know we are living so far apart, but I really, really wish I get another possibility to see and hug you again. After having that chance once, I do not want it to be the first and last time we did that! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your trip and come home safe!

Today I was in a cyber mood again and I was waiting for so long to have a reason to buy that cool tentacles from [CX]. Being in SL for over 10 years, normally means you have a uncontrollable inventory – at least in my case. I do have so many things, even if I do not use them to much – or not at all – some of them have amazing memories to them and I simply can’t delete them. I do sort and as well clean it out, but no matter what I can’t make it below a certain number and even that number grows every year for some reason :p

That was why I did impose a rule on myself… “Never buy something you do not have an initial idea for, or that you do not use in a reasonable time frame!” Sometimes that is really hard as I see many things on events and in stores, that I do like immensely…

With that, I at least protect my inventory from exploding too much but, it still grows… just slower*giggles*

It did change my whole shopping habit a lot, as well it did change my view on some things. I used to buy lots of stuff and then I even forgot, that I got them. Sometimes I found things weeks and month after I got them and they already were dusty and old and I had still no idea what to use them for 🙁

Now I get excited again when I buy things, as I know I maybe waited a while before I found the inspiration for, or I was thinking hard to imagine what I could do with them. I do not know how to describe but things got more value to me again. It does make a difference if you just buy things because you want to have them, or if you buy things to actually use them. It did feel bad when things stayed unused and got deleted some when without not having them used at least once even if it is ‘only’ virtual goods. Someone worked to create them and it feels disrespectful to me for what ever reason.

A&Y Cybernetics again released a breathtaking creation at ROMP!

The new “Aglaya Latex Cyber Corset” is a perfect match to the “Aglaya Latex Cyber Boots”, which I blogged a few days already – I had to wear them again for this post to show off that perfect match.

The corset, as well as the boots, have the typical A&Y HUD to color customize many different parts. I am still amazed, how awesome that HUD works. It kinda already feels cybernetic, when you put the HUD on and then you connect the HUD with the item you want to customize and see the percentage running up to 100%. When it reached the maximum you can choose the part you want to color and then you are able to select what ever color you want depending, which the HUD/pack you bought – either one color with 2 different shades as base color, or you go for the complete fatpack.

I do have to admit cyberpunk is something right down my alley. I love the idea of cybernetic body parts, the vibrant colors paired with black do have a very energetic feeling for me and the idea, that in the future we all will not be perfect anymore and have several mechanical/electronic parts to survive is kinda interesting. That would create a whole new vision of beauty 🙂

In SL modeling we always were taught to never hide our faces, but for cyber or cyberpunk looks, huge glasses and masks are so much fun! To be honest, I always had a tendency to not listen to “rules” if they did not make sense for me 😉

Summertime and the living is easy…

… for those who like summer most likely yes *giggles*

Thank god in SL you do not feel any temperature and can enjoy summer quite a little more, without sweating all the time like in RL.

I again found a bikini, which I truly like and again I was facing the question… what else than laying on a beach or hanging out in a pool I could do for a picture. I mean there is nothing against those scenarios, but I do not like to do that in RL plus that would make just another of those kind of summer loving pictures. A&Y always is special to me – I love her designs, I love the way how the textures are and I do love the futuristic character that all her creations have. Because of that, I just do not wanna make an easy picture with it. To me it alway requests something strong and special.

For the “Electra Cyber Bikini” from A&Y you have the option to wear it as a full set (already linked) or you can wear only top or pants single as well. As usual you have the amazing HUD that we all know from A&Y to customize the bikini itself (2 parts), straps and metals. To underline the amazing straps I added an arm harness from L’Emporio.

While I was looking for shoes, I saw the latest release from [Gos] and it felt like the shoes were made for my look! The “Bella Thong Platforms” are part of the actual round of FaMESHed and with the straps all over the feet and around the toe they completely matched the outfit. Like always the shoes come for all the popular mesh bodies and with the Boutique, the Blueberry and the Metalic HUD. What I do like a lot os that [Gos] includes a materials and a non materials version for the shoes. You can decide if you want to take a picture with the ambiance occlusion shown or jut have a clear view on the shoes.

Yesterday I was talking to Falbala Fairey again after a long time. We both were busy with RL and even more I was happy when I saw her in the audience, when I did that interview with Trouble and Kess for SL15B (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=F8lihXKTySk)

After the interview we did a call on Discord and had a nice long chat about what has happened over the time. Many good news and a things were shared and I was in a really good mood when she suddenly asked if she could show me something. Certainly she could :p. A few minutes later I had a folder and very shy sis in my ears when she said “Maybe you can try them and tell me what you think?” I peeked and it was… POSES! I love poses and the more I love them when they come from a person I feel close to 🙂 Little sis makes poses now! Here store is called Fairey Poses and what I instantly felt, when I tried the poses, was that those poses are done by someone that blogs fashion for along time. All the poses I got were strong and well thought poses for fashion photography. It was refreshing to see some edgy poses as well and especially the crouch and lean against the wall poses made their way right into my heart. It is so rare to find really cool and swag poses for fashion photography. The more I was happy to find exactly those 2 kind of poses made by Falbala!

Enough for today… I need to take a look at Fairey Poses now, to see what else Falbala made!

Red Queen – My Vision of a Modern Queen of Hearts

I always adored the novel Alice in Wonderland and the actual round of Enchantment had exactly that as a theme for their event. So the story was stuck in my mind again and when I saw the new “Lexa Latex Dress” from A&Y Cybernetics in that stunning, strong red (there is 5 colors in total to choose from) I got the idea to try for a modern, fashionable & lightly kinky Queen of Hearts 😉

Latex is always tricky in SL, but Anabel Crystal, owner and designer of A&Y did an amazing job with it. What I love the most is that the HUD allows you to texture the dress, the straps and the metals separate.

I do not know why but if I wear a short dress, I always have the feeling I want something on my arms and legs, especially the legs if I do wear no high boots. This time I chose gloves from Codex, as they had a perfect latex possibility in their HUD and for the knees I went with some cool leg garters from Tabou. The shoes, which matched the style so perfect, are made by UTOPIA@Design. The “Cinzia” heels. Made of zippers that are wrapped around your feet and with a super sexy, high heel and platform sole they are simply a must have for every fashionistas wardrobe!

Often I was asked if I do sometimes use particles for my pictures. Particles are not always easy to snap, depending on how they are made and how string your graphic card is. Sometimes they just create weird colored ‘shadows’ and then it is easier to make those effects in Photoshop.

But not with the particles and effects form Cole’s Corner. ColeMarie Soleil has a great way to make her particles and effects, so that you can use them for pictures most of the time and they still show clear and crisp. For the actual round of the Enchantment, she made the amazing “Queen of Hearts Aura” and the “Queen of Hearts Halo”. Both colored in red, the Aura even spreads the typical signs you find on the cards like the hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. Since a simple photo usually doe snot show particles properly I tried this time to make a short gif, so you can get an idea of the sweet effect 🙂

A cool style needs a great makeup too that matches the look and even gives the perfect finish to it. I know I said that already and not only once but I LOVE the makeup and lipsticks from Zibska for such strong and intense styles. It always adds even more dramatic vibes to the whole look. When I went to the Zibska main store to see what new releases she has, my view fell on the group gifts again and I saw one that I not yet had… how could that happen O.O

The “Themis” head piece did fit so nicely to the look and again lifted it o a higher level for me and together with the “Arie” eyeshadow and lipstick it just looked complete to me. Complete for my modern, fashionable Queen of Hearts – My Red Queen 🙂
