Fantasy Faire 2013 – Rfyre & The Plastik + News from Finesmith

Fantasy Faire 2013 - Rfyre + Plastik full

From the 20th of April until the 28th of April you can find amazing creations various designers made for themes like fantasy, role play, steam-punk and Sci-Fi and all that is content of dreams at the SecondLife Fantasy Faire 2013.   Incredible builders created awesome sims for that event where you can make fantastic pictures or just explore and get caught away in your dreams and imagination.

The Fantasy Faire is one of the most huge events that take part in the RFL. RLF – Relay for Life – is a charity organisation that supports the American Cancer Society.

The whole event takes part on 10 sims. The are arranged in a nice way with a path that you can follow to explore all of them. On 8 you will find the creations that were made from all the designers to support the RLF. The last 2 sims are the event sims, where presentations, music events, concerts, auctions and silent auctions take place. To make it more interesting for visitors, a super amazing hunt is taking place where you can find many incredible little items.

Today I would like to take a closer look on the creations of Rfyre and The Plastik.

Rfyre created two wonderful full outfits for the Fantasy Faire and one I would like to spotlight today. The “Lux Fantasy” outfit is part wise made with mesh. The corset and parts of the arms sleeves are mesh made and the amazing bodice comes as a layer. The full outfit as well contains a long skirt, that’s open in the front, but for the post I just skipped that part, because for the aggressive running look I liked it more without the skirt ;). The amazing, cool looking boots with the detailed texture and the awesome buckles atthe side are part of the outfit.

As always Raven Pennyfeather, owner and designer of Rfyre, points with her amazing textures. She has such an eye for the detail and her creations mirror that. If you take a closer look at the textures you can see how filigree and perfect they are made and so she gives the gothic look a very elegant and high fashion touch. The chest part looks like silver plate decorations and give the whole outfit a very strong amazon looking touch. The wonderful chains that run over the cleavage again show how detailed Raven works for her designs. Her creativity seemd to never come to an end as she always comes with new ideas and combinations, that amaze me. It is always a honor to blog her creations :). The black silver look of this outfit really makes a wonderful base for realizing your own fantasies in many ways 🙂

The wonderful huge jewelry is one of the newest releases from Finesmith. The “Truth” set is available for male and female and it contains the necklace, earrings, shoulder parts and a bracelet. The male version just is a little bit bigger sized. The dark silver metal goes wonderful with the black gems and the long spikes already gave a very demon looking attitude and so it was perfect for this styling ;).

The hair is one of my favourite styles from EMO-tions. The “Solitude” hair has a very special option as you have two hairstyles in one that are to change with a menu. If you click it you are asked if you wanna have ‘Style A’ or ‘Style B’ and with a sweet gesture it changed the look after you made your choice. For the “Solitude” style as well one version has the forehead chain like in the post and the other shows without the chain.

The skin as well is a Fantasy Faire contribution and it comes from The Plastik. The “Arkasia” skin in the ‘Paua” color was the perfect addition to my demon style. As I told before in another post you have several options for each skin and color in the pack and this time I decided to go with the ‘bare’ version, that only has a scale framed face and some scales on the body. The “Bloodless Silver” eyes are as well from The Plastik and I had them in the skin folder as well. Together with the “Dark Shadow”, the “Smudgy Shadow” and the “Lip Stripe” that came together with the “Arkasia” too the demon look was perfect and I just added some wings from Material Squirrel.

Today I would like to lead you down into the ocean with EMO-tions, Paper Moon and Plastik :).

As I saw the items from Paper Moon I thought about, wich fantasy direction I could go. Paper Moon offers a top and a skirt in different shades of purple, pink and beige for the Fantasy Faire. As I was playing again with the fantastic skins from The Plastik, I got the idea of a fantasy mermaid looking girl deep down in the ocean. So I took the “Synjarni Silver Tribal Fusion” top from  Paper Moon to the “Arkasia – Kryv” skin made by The Plastik. In the skin pack you find several versions of the skin, as well eyes and different makeup versions. I decided to go with the Atlantic version, because of the style idea I had. The scales round the eyes and over the body are not blanket the skin too much and let the human side still exist in a wonderful way. The mesh “Synjari” top from Paper Moon with it’s amazing texture and the filigree ornaments made a nice base for the styling together with the mermaid tail from FATEbecome. The wonderful “Paradise” hairstyle was made from by EMO-tions as well for the Fantasy Faire 2013. The long hair is available in black , natural, fantasy blue and fantasy turquoise. For this post I chose the natural version. The jewelry part of the forehead and the beautiful feathers are as well part of the hairstyle and make the awesome fantasy look perfect.

To add a a little playful touch I added some feathers from Fancy Fairy and to underline the underwater look with a jewerly piece, I decided to wear the “Kitsch Couture” necklace from Finesmith as it reminded me of those flexible sea anemones.

The Proud Butterfly

Once, a beautiful, shiny and colourful butterfly was flitting from one flower to another. She saw a baby elephant coming down the path. She flew to him and sat on his ear. The elephant asked, “Who are you? Where are you going?”

The butterfly proudly replied, “I am the most beautiful of all the butterflies. You are ugly and fat. Your body is heavy while I am delicate and light. People are jealous of my colourful wings. I can fly anywhere with these wings.”

The elephant calmly said, “I am glad to meet you.”

The butterfly went on, “There is no comparison between us. You have four legs but I have six. You have a trunk and I have something like that too but I use it to suck nectar from the flowers. You cannot do that.” Just then a strong wind blew and the butterfly could not keep her balance. She cried for help as she was flown away in the wind. But the elephant stood firmly on ground and thought, “I can see how pride has a fall.”

Wicca’s Wardrobe: Scary Story

A pretty woman was serving a life sentence in prison for murder. Angry and resentful about her situation, she decided that she couldn’t spend her life in prison. She began plotting ways to escape from the jail.

She became good friends with one of the prison caretakers. His job was to bury any prisoners who died, in a graveyard just outside the prison walls. Whenever a prisoner died, the caretaker rang a bell, which was heard by all of the prison inmates. The caretaker then got the body and put it in a casket. Next, he entered his office to fill out the death certificate before returning to the casket to nail the lid shut. Finally, he put the casket on a wagon to take it to the graveyard and bury it.

Knowing this routine, the woman devised an escape plan and shared it with the caretaker. The next time the bell rang, the woman would leave her cell and sneak into the dark room where the coffins were kept.

She would slip into the coffin with the dead body while the caretaker was filling out the death certificate. When the caretaker returned, he would nail the lid shut and take the coffin outside the prison with the woman in the coffin along with the dead body. He would then bury the coffin.

The woman knew there would be enough air for her to breathe until later in the evening when the caretaker would return to the graveyard under cover of darkness, dig up the coffin, and set her free.

The caretaker was reluctant to go along with this plan, but since he and the woman had become good friends over the years, he agreed to do it. The woman waited several weeks for one of the other prison inmates to die.

One night, she was asleep in her cell when she heard the death bell ringing. She got up, picked the lock of her cell, and slowly walked down the hallway. She was nearly caught a couple of times. Her heart was beating fast.

She opened the door to the darkened room where the coffins were kept. Quietly in the dark, she found the coffin that contained the dead body, carefully climbed into it and pulled the lid shut to wait for the caretaker to come and nail the lid down.

Soon she heard footsteps and the pounding of the hammer and nails. Even though she was very uncomfortable in the coffin with the dead body beneath her, she knew that with each nail she was one step closer to freedom.

The coffin was lifted onto the wagon and taken outside to the graveyard. She could feel the coffin being lowered into the ground. She didn’t make a sound as the coffin hit the bottom of the grave with a thud.

Finally she heard the dirt dropping onto the top of the wooden coffin, and she knew that it was only a matter of time until she would be free at last. After several minutes of absolute silence, she began to chuckle quietly to herself.

Feeling curious, she decided to light a match to find out the identity of the dead prisoner beside her. To her horror, she discovered that she was lying on top of the dead caretaker.

Halloween with Silken Moon and PurpleMoon

Halloween, the favourite time of the year for me 😉 Since I was a little child, I liked Halloween a lot. All the cool creepy costumes, the scary stories and novels… I was like a sponge every time I got told one of those and a week before Halloween, I already had 3 different costumes in my mind that, I would have liked to wear…

I did not have much time to blog all of my ideas before today, but I will nevertheless try and bring some of my ideas and pictures of the great Halloween stuff in SL to the blog even if today it is already Halloween 😉

I would like to start with a combination of Silken Moon skins and 2 of the awesome PurpleMoon releases for Halloween and to give a bit of a scary Halloween atmosphere, I will try to always give a neat scary story, that I really enjoyed when I was told 😉

Creepy Photos Story 1

A young girl was walking home from school one day, when she spotted a pile of old photos lying on the sidewalk. They were stacked together and neatly wrapped in a rubber band. She picked up the pile of photographs and started to flip through them. A chill ran down her spine when she looked at the first photo. It showed a creepy old man dressed in white. Behind him, the background was pitch black. He was standing just far enough away from the camera that she couldn’t make out his face. The next photo showed the same man, except he was standing a bit closer. Looking through the rest of the photos, the girl began to get an eerie feeling. In each one, the man in the picture was inching closer and closer and his face was still blurred. She got the strangest feeling that the man in the photographs was looking at her. In one photo, the man was so close that his face was completely filling up the frame. As she neared her house, the girl turned to the last photo. This time, instead of an image, there were two words: Close enough. Hearing a scream outside their house, the girl’s brother rushed to the door and opened it. All he saw was a pile of photographs lying on the doorstep. The top one looked like an extremely pale version of his sister, but she was standing too far back for him to make out her face.

Creepy Photos Story 2

One day, a boy was sitting in his classroom in school. He was extremely bored and was waiting for the school bell to ring. When he looked out the window, something caught his eye. There was a photograph lying on the grass outside. When school was over, he ran outside and picked up the photograph before anyone else had a chance to see it. Turning it over in his hands, he realized it was a picture of an incredibly beautiful girl. She was wearing a black top, a short, black skirt, black tights and black shoes. For some reason, she was holding up two fingers. The girl was so pretty that he wanted to meet her. He showed the photograph to everyone in the school and asked if they knew her. Unfortunately, nobody recognized her. That night, when he went to bed, he placed the photo on his bedside table and went to sleep. Around midnight, he woke up. There was something tapping on his window. Then he heard what sounded like someone giggling. More than a little frightened, he worked up the courage to investigate it. He jumped out of bed, went over to the window and opened it. There was nothing there. The next day, he showed the photo to his friends and neighbors and asked if they knew the mysterious girl. Everybody he asked said they had never seen the girl before in their lives. That night, as he lay in bed, he heard the tapping sound again. He looked out the window and could just make out a figure standing on the other side of the street. He couldn’t be sure, but it looked like the mysterious girl in the photograph. Clutching the picture tightly, he threw on his clothes and raced downstairs and out the front door. As he crossed the road, he forgot to look both ways and was suddenly hit by a car. The driver got out of the car and ran over to help the boy, but it was no use. The boy had been killed on impact. The driver noticed something clutched in the boy’s hand. It was a photograph.Turning it over in his hands, the driver realized it was a picture of an incredibly beautiful girl. She was wearing a black top, a short, black skirt, black tights and black shoes. For some reason, she was holding up three fingers.

Wicca’s Wardrobe: Of Fire and Dancing

Of fire and dancing.

One day, a fire spirit was curious about the other elements and decided to walk their places. She danced up into the air to see the spirits that could fly. But it did not really work. The flying spirits were afraid of her and pushed her to the ground, but she left her fire in the air. So they learned to dance and were a little bit ashamed that they treated the one who brought the gift so bad.

The fire spirit landed where the creature walked. Those creatures were bound by gravity and cautious about the fire. But they tried to use these gifts the spirit brought. The fire spirit like these slow walkers but longed to see her fellow dancers, so she walked to find them again.

Led by the same instinct that makes birds find north and south she danced over the earth to find home. But then the land ended and became water. By another instinct the dancer knew this was an element to kill her. The powers living in the water felt the same and stayed clear of her. So she started to dance at the shore of the ocean to evaporate the water. As you can imagine, it didn’t work. At times the fire spirit can be seen dancing fast over the land she is trapped on, but she always stops when there is water. But you can always see her gift to the earth when you see someone dance.

The Water Fairy that wanted to Fly

Today I have something very special for you…

Yesterday I got an outfit from the October’s Trending Fashion Chamber, from October Bettencourt, owner and designer of Captive Designs. The outfit is called “Snakeskin Jumper”, made in brown and green tones. As I put it on and looked at it for a while, I thought that many people will style it just like a casual outfit and I wanted to try something different… And for some strange reason suddenly a steam punk fairy came into my mind… I know that this 2 words usually do not go together well but … it got stuck in my mind. The “Snakeskin Jumper” comes with mesh pants, a short layer and the awesome huge neck collar. I only added a fishnet bolero… or that what was left from it*grins* and those wonderful steam punk wings of the “Fallen Aviator” outfit  from E-Clipse.

The hair is one of the latest releases from Element’ Hair with the name “Camille” and the “Elise” ankle boots are from L&B. To make the steam punk feeling perfect I used the “Guildio” glasses from Crie Style.

While I was styling, I was talking to Malicia Python, owner nd designer of Silken Moon, on Skype. She is working on a special custom skin for me and she TPed over to my home to show me what she did new. While we were talking, I was arranging the scene and had pulled out the swing that I found longer ago and never used before. I was sitting on it and had still a white background and no idea for a picture yet. Suddenly Malicia said why not something fantasy? And we started to search for backgrounds. She showed a super nice one. I loaded it up to second life and she surprised me again with a curved background prim to have more depth in my pic. While I was snapping and crashing because of the shadows all the time I told her, how much I would like to learn more about PS and about some tricks and tips and I showed hr some pictures I really like. As she would talk about the weather, she suddenly started explaining to me, what I could do and try to make my pics more unique and more customized. She told me about features of PS I never heard of before and for me it was like … I do not know how to put it, it was kinda like a little child that left the house for the first time… there are so many possibilities and tricks… before I realized it was 4AM in the morning… I went to bed. The next morning I could not wait to sit in front of my PC and try what I learned the night before and after some hours… after I thought it was finished I could not wait to show it to Malicia and show her what I did with her advises… The results you can see in the 2 pictures of this post *smiles super happy*

Then she suddenly came up with a sweet short novel for this pics and style and that I will not hide from you!

The Water Fairy that wanted to Fly

ONCE upon a time there was a water fairy, she loved her fellow water beings, but what she loved most was the birds that flew over the lake. She sighed and said „I wish I could fly, too“ A water spirit heard her and felt like her longing would make her an easy prey. He told her he could give her wings, but this would have a price she must be really willing to pay.

The Fairy did not hesitate one moment. She followed the water spirit to his cave where he plucked her left eye out and put it into his own socket. The poor fairy was in pain, not only her missing eye hurt badly also her back felt like it was going to break. And even worse: as her wings grew, she could not breathe under water anymore. She swam up to the surface and gasped for air. The water spirit followed her and cackled as he saw her cry, because she realized her silly wish had banned her from home forever. As she wished for something that was not her nature.

And even today, when you come to the lake by moonlight, you sometimes see the fairy staring into the lake, where she could see her loved ones with her eye that was left with the water spirit.

Today I have the pleasure to show you 2 of the latest releases of Son!a. Sonia28 Jie, owner and fabulous designer of Son!a, again released some masterpieces of clothing :). The first one, I would like to show you, is called “Virgo”. A wonderful ensemble of a corset, a sheer half skirt and some wonderful arm parts. The textures again show why, Sonia28 Jie is one of the most popular designers if it comes to precious and elegant gowns and outfits. The corset is textured with such a love to the detail that you can see every fold, light and shadow, what makes it so realistic that you think you can just touch it and feel it under your fingers. A sweet detail as well are the ruffles that decorate the chest.

The second outfit I wanna showcase for today is called “Jamie” and it is a very modern looking dress.. kinda cocktail dress looking. What “Jamie” and “Virgo” have together is the wonderful corset, what is center for each outfit, even if they are totally different 🙂 The corset of the “Jamie” dress is made with that new mesh technique and it comes with an alpha layer and in different sizes so you can make sure it fits nearly every shape.

Besides that wonderful mesh corset you have 2 skirt options to wear one sheer and one opaque. What as well makes an eye catcher are the wonderful roses that decorate the left shoulder. For this second look I took the new “Optical” collar, bangles and nails from blackliquid to complete my look. This simple set of circles is exactly what every fashionista searched for always and never had :). The “Optical” set with the matching fingernails you will fine in many more amazing colors at the blackliquid Mainstore.

Today I was again in a strange mood. As I yesterday started to style the new “Aphrodisia” dress from Fellini Couture, I had something romantic lightly vintage with a huge hat in mind. I have no clue why, but while I was entering SL and staring at the login screen, that always shows you your last picture I came across a totally different vision.

Maybe it had to do as well that I listened to one of my favourite bands the whole day. One song of Evanescence was very close to me for a long time. That’s why I linked “Bring me back to life” in the beginning as it kinda was a huge part of my inspiration for the pictures and look.

But now lets take a look on the wonderful “Aphrodisia” dress from Fellini Couture and the whole look around it. The “Aphrodisia” dress is a white and very romantic dress with lots of amazing and different textures. The mixture of filigree lace, the opaque ornamented parts and the flowers makes this dress to a little piece of art. Joy Fellini again shows why she is on top of the SL fashion scene for such a long time with her genius ideas and incredible skills.

Right beside on top of the fashion heaven, we have yula Finesmith, owner and designer of Finesmith. She released not too long ago a wonderful male collection and the parts I am wearing today I took out of this one. I did not see any reason, if males can wear female jewelry, why the girls cannot wear the male jewelry :p. I just had to resize the “Heartology” necklace for sure as it was way bigger for a males neck :). The “Heartology” wings I took like they are without any changes.

The awesome hat is part of the “Halloween Horror Collection” if hats from Bliss Couture. Amutey DeCuir made a super cool hat collection for Halloween 2011 and I see no reason why we cannot use them during the year if it matches :p.

Maybe if you look at the pics while you hear the song you can get a part of my mood that I had, while I was doing this pictures. The first time I dared to make my own fog and parts of the hair and I am amazed what came out after all this hours between looking at tutorials, reading advises and try & error 🙂 For sure it is not the end of the scale, but a wonderful new start for me to work on even more pictures 🙂
